| Not Ranked : 0 score haha quick answer. I guess I just don't know the differences. The style I have already is like the first picture. Is there an advantage or disadvantage from one to the other, or is it just more options available. Does one work/not work with something else? gen1/gen2.. Sorry, I just don't know what the dog bone one is?

This quote made me think of how "beastly" the JBR RMM is with no duro rating. Do you think the CP-E side mounts would be compatible with either JBR RMM?

| Not Ranked : 0 score jamie: is your dogbone about as noisy as the trz in regards to cabin vibes? i just got rid of the trz poly, it was a bit much. i do miss how mega solid it felt though.. do you think your billet 80 would be a step down from the trz in terms of stiffness and noise, but a step up from the street unit? it sounds like you tested a few... i wonder if i'll ever be totally happy with my set up.. edit^ easy must have been typing while i was..

The vibes from my dog bone mount in my opinion is not that bad at all. There are more vibes don't get me wrong but I like the growl the car has now; it sounds cool. I don't hear a drown either. I also may have a higher tolerance for vibes and noise than others. I think it's a great mount though. Thanks, Jamie It is different and larger. There are no spacers to transfer more noise either. If I didn't already have a rear mount you'd have gotten an order from me already. It definitely looks like the most stout mount I've ever seen. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score what bushing material is the su rmm? i just replaced my trz with an su and i love how much quieter my cabin is, but do not like the bounce that i now have in my drivetrain again... i'm wondering if jamie's billet 80 would get rid of drivetrain bounce. it definitely looks to be the strong silent type..

The 80 would be a step in the right direction but this type of mount is meant to be effective while still maintaining some comfort. Also without Tranny and passenger side mounts you will have some bounce. The rear motor mount alone cannot do the whole job by itself. Now the dog bone mount is about as close as you can get with a single mount, but some comfort is sacrificed. Thanks, Jamie

With that said, I believe that my mounts exhibit less vibes to the cabin because there are no aluminum spacers sandwiching the mount. It's my opinion that they are the cause of additional unnecessary vibration. Just to be clear...I'm not criticizing CP-E, I'm just stating my opinion. Thanks, Jamie

one is just polyurethane the other is EPDM (same stuff your window and door seals are made out of) durometer is measure by creating a permanent deformation in the part (or resistance to elastic deformation), meaning that is taken to the plastic region of its stress-strain curve...a known load is applied for x amount of time and depending on how deep the indent is the material is rated x....but these mounts arent going to be operating in the plastic region...they will be living their life in the elastic region...EPDM is ductile when compared to poly which means it has a flatter slope in the elastic region than poly, meaning it will "give" (deflect/elongate) more under the same stress than poly will....but why do they have the same durometer? again that is measured in the plastic region...cool things about polymers is that you can change lots of properties to get exactly what you want...you can easily have two rubbers that have identical plastic regions but very different elastic regions making one one more brittle than the other even though they have the same hardness another point is that hardness is not an inherent property of a material, several material factors go into how hard something is...so again just because two materials are the same hardness doesnt really mean they will behave the same under applied loads the tl;dr version is even though they have the same durometer EPDM will be "softer" than poly...meaning less vibes but you are also going to have less overall tensile strength (cp-e mounts have failed...no failures yet of poly mounts) as jamie stated poly mounts have yet to produce a failure and overall for this application (and imo) poly is superior here is a great article if you want to know more than you could ever care about http://www.gallaghercorp.com/urethan...hardness.shtml Last edited by TRex; 04-11-2011 at 01:42 PM.
