Default JBR MS6 ssp better than advertised

As most of you know, Jamie makes a phenomenal short shift plate for both the speed3 and the speed6. I'm a speed6 owner, and I've been waiting until I had the time to do this write-up properly because I love this mod and wanted to share and promote this. There are plenty of pics/vids showing the install and how short the throws are, etc. but I've tried to show it a little differently with a more straight forward/visual approach.

I made a plum line with a laser that I usually use to f* with our cats or my 2 year old and attached it to the shifter to quantify and "see" the difference in the shift positions. I've attached a couple pics to show the results...i'm not a "mythbuster" but this mod is CONFIRMED! and then some. For starters... albiet not perfect, my calcs translate into a 37% reduction in a shift from 1st to 2nd. (for inquiring minds -- 5.4 cm from N to 1st, 5.08 cm from N to 2nd on stock shifter vs. 3.49 cm N to 1st, 3.175 cm N to 2nd with Jamie's ssp -- a difference of 1.91 cm) I did all the shift positions but don't want to bore you with all of them, I'd rather let the pictures explain for themselves. Probably stating the obvious but Black marks are stock and red marks are with Jamie's short shift plate. Thie first pic is the general setup and the third pic really tells the story...

Thank you, Jamie!

No problem, I was happy to do it. I'm hoping this will help illustrate your parts' effectiveness because I think everybody should have one of these. What a difference. By the way, the new risers make it perfect. Thanks again.

Thanks a lot for this write up. I always feel like it's so hard for me to adequately quantify to people how really amazing this mod is, and out of any of the mods I've done, it's been the best Bang-for-Buck. I must of had at least 6 different people get in my car at the tuning meet yesterday to try it out.

Jamie, can I get some free advertising swag?! lol

that's kindof how/why I thought of this method of demonstration because I was trying to explain to people, esp. the wife, via exaggerated hand movements, what the difference was...this explains it better and as a bonus, I don't look as foolish.

Of course it does. Reverse is just as great as every other gear.

Absolutely, yes. I just didn't think to include it. It is just as slick and great as all the shifts now are.

Great review...

James, any plans on resolving the interference that happens between the updated shift plate and the stock airbox? I've read the fix for it but don't like the idea of not seating the airbox properly.

For clarification the air box clearance issue QTIP refers to is for the MS3 only. There are no clearance issues with the MS6 Shift Plate kits.

To answer your question...no I have no plans to make changes to the MS3 kits. The clearance issue is a minor one and the vast majority of MS3 owners have, or plan to install an intake.

I understand and respect you concerns but I would not worry about adding the grommets to raise the the stock air box a 1/4" as described in the installation instructions. After the grommets are added the air box is solid and there is not movement.

Thanks,
Jamie

Can you provide a link to the new installation manual with this step? I didn't see it on the instruction manual on your website.

Jamie,

I have an MS6 related question - I have TWM Shifter bushings already installed. Is the only difference between your stage 1 and stage 2 kit for the MS6 the fact that the stage two includes shift bushings, or are the actual ssp's different for stage 1 and 2?
