(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score JBR Needs Your Input With the new Passenger Side Motor Mount about to be released I want you to decide how I should proceed. Powder coat, Leave it bare, or other. If the popular option is to leave it bare all billet mounts will be triple-dipped in SHARKHIDE. Please take some time to read about this amazing coating. It's slightly less work then powder coating but more expensive, however the price will not change. Below are some pics to help with making your choice. Thanks for taking the time to help us and the community. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Function over form and minimize cost. Metallic look: 1. Stands out and not as stealthy - good or bad depending on what you want. I like it 2. Prone to the elements - But its aluminum so not really that bad 3. Cheaper - not sure by how much Powedcoat: 1. Somewhat stealthier - but still kinda stands out cause of the Red bushing 2. Protected from elements - unless u damage the coat while installing. 3. Little extra expense - dont know how little Ideal would be to have an option between the two. but to keep things simple, the metallic look kicks ass. Either ways, people are not gonna be swayed on their purchase, no matter what ur decision is of how it looks. So just make one and go with it, so that its out to the market ASAP |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I personally don't care how it looks as long as it performs great and holds up. If skipping the whole beautification part also reduces cost to the consumer but doesn't sacrifice integrity im all for it. I want cheap and effective mounts, they are mounts not bling bling.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I'd say powdercoat as a standard option (naked would have to be cleared to avoid corrosion anyways, so might as well put something durable on it,) however I'd like to see anodizing as an alternate ($) option (assuming it's not cost-prohibitive.) I think it would give us a lot of options for a theme, showing off those mounts and it wouldn't add any appreciable thickness to the mounts like powder would so installation would be easier. Colors: Gold, Bronze, Green, Black, Purple, etc. |

Also, to correct my & this misunderstanding, the 'naked' one would be coated in the Sharkhide clear-coat. Last edited by Mizzle; 07-29-2011 at 02:42 PM. | |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Anodizing is out. Unlike the other Mazda Performance Parts Vendors with a partial exception for CP-E, I do all this work in house. Literally in my house/garage. I really don't feel like putting in the equivalent of a meth lab in order to anodize. My personal take on anodize is it's rice in any other color then black. I also feel that it provides much less protection then powder coat. Every Anodized part I've ever bought has faded. Red turns pink, blue turns light blue, and black just fades to not so black. |
