We have a design for one already but I never pushed in through to production. I'll move it along. We usually put power making parts before these types but I do see the demand for them.

Bumping this up: would buy.

I'd love to see a version that had the mounting base parallel to the very front of the bumper. I hate the existing options that keep the base flush to the curve of the side of the bumper. :/

So, you'd prefer to see it straight NOT angled back? Who cares about the functionality of the tow hook or is cost more important?

Let's get some feed back and I'll see what I can whip up.

I think straight would look a lot better than the angled back ones. And as for the tow hook, if its not a permanent mount, I can always put my actual tow hook on if needed.

I thought the idea of straight across the car would be cool, but the more I think about it, the more I realize how stupid it would look. I think an adjustable setup would be great, if only to satisfy the people who like stupid

How about if it could do both, straight or angled or anywhere in betweens.

I think cost is more important so long as it's easy to get the plate off. As it is, you still need to unscrew the license plate itself to get the cp-e tow plate off and be able utilize the tow hook. If your design allowed the user to simply unspin the whole assembly, license plate still attached and all, I think that'd be more than enough. You'd probably have to add some way to adjust the screw depth it so that the user could spin it back on and have it start to tighten right as the plate leveled out.

Other than that, if you can allow for angled or straight in the same package... go for it.

In for multiple angles of license plate location. The ability for customization would be worth the extra bit of money in my opinion if it even costs that much more.

Honestly you want it as close to the bumper as possible. The Cpe, which is angled as close to tangent to the bumper as possible, is a real shin banger

I like the angled look Jamie. How about this...


the bolt screws into the bumper, then the license plate is attatched to a plate that has a "BOLT" as i would say that spins off... then the stock tow hook spins right into your after market bolt... dawing to come to help for reference.

I take it you haven't looked at the CP-E mount? It's exactly what you just drew...lol

EDIT: NM, I see the difference now. You want to leave whatever bolt attaches the plate in there even with the tow hook.

Maybe some type of "sway mount" that would allow you to go strait or angled

cp-e is similar to what im saying, EXCEPT... the two different bolts have different threads, im saying that all threads that hold the bracket to the bumper be the same threads as the stock tow hook


For refence two different threads:

they are. if you just take off the plate bracket you can screw the tow hook right into the cp-e extender

The TowPlate™ was also designed to accommodate the MazdaSPEED3 tow hook without having to remove it. A bolt in the center of the bracket is removable and the factory tow hook screws right in. This can be incredibly helpful for folks that regularly use the tow hook for strapping the car down at the dyno, or if the car needs to be towed in a pinch.

Perhaps something can be made similar to a full motion mount for a flat screen tv, but has a locking mechanism once you find a desired angle.

I would worry it would flop around. Depending on how you made the "angle setter" I described you would essentially have the same functionality with little to no worry stability.

Last time I checked this is JBR we're talking about, I'm thinking any idea of how he would make anything is steel welded to steel then forged in the fires of mount doom then powder coated in house.

How about one that doesn't use the tow hook bolt for those that don't use the crash bar for their FMIC??? There is already one that utilizes the hook threads. Something more innovative.

Will sell once/if a JBR relocate ever comes out

Why would you want a relocated front plate, with JBR intakes plus custom tunes etc, majority of other cars just see the back end pulling away.

ALOT of states require you to have front and rear license plates. Its a punishable moving violation if you get pulled over without it in a state that requires it.

Lol I needed to get one for living in CA. Besides, I love JBR products and prefer support in my opinion the best vendor on this site. Never ever had a problem with any of his products or services.
