(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score New Product Release!! Raider's Air Damn 2007 - 2009 Mazdaspeed 3 This cover stops the Florida sand from coating my engine bay, as well as serves as a cover for setting tools and such on. But there is more to this cover; it forces more air into the radiator area, including the FMIC. I tried to get a professional version made for the masses, but life and kids put this aside and I never pursued it further. Then I got a call from James Barone Racing around Christmas, following up a discussion we had in September 2014 at the Mazda Meet & Eat event in Jacksonville. He asked for pictures of my cover, as he thought would be cool to try to make this. Nothing is out there for us now, and it would have to be based only on my cell phone pics. Deal was, I got the final say if it was good enough to release or not. A few months go by and I get a text that one was on the way for me to test fit. After a quick discussion about how to install the fasteners, the result is very functional product with professional fitment and I retain the ability to not drop tools into the pit of doom. Mazdaspeed Forums, I present to you, Raiders Air Damn! Details: Raider's Air Damn is the only product of its kind that covers the wide open are in between the grill and the radiator. After installing a front mounted intercooler and removing all the ducting associated with the top mounted intercooler, a large void is left between the front grill and the top of the radiator. With Raider's air damn this area is now completely covered up leaving you with a classy finished look to your engine bay. Looks aren't everything though! Raider's Air Damn also stops your tools, parts, and hardware from falling in to the abyss behind the front bumper never to be seen again. Not only that, it directs more much needed air through your front mount intercooler and radiator too. Features:
Raider's Air Damn Kit Includes:

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score That it can be! Was tough to keep a secret for a month or so of testing. It is really what i needed. I do plan to use my old cover for the latch when working on the car, though. Flag is gone-that was just to mess with people, and to remind me to take it off when I was done. Still forgot a couple times, so flag is gone. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score It's long gone. When I cut it out for the Comex, I used the skills of a kindergartener after a candy bar to trim it. Was pretty bad. The Issue you will face with metal, is that the area it connects to is various heights. Would need bending to get it to work and sit flush. the JBR flap material is better at it than Comex, I can tell you that! |

Probably the one he tested on before I got it to verify.
I have wanted a professional piece since my hack prototype was finished. It was in bad shape upon removal. Wall of Shame material lol! I still got stuff I would love made, but would be a lot of R&D I simply cannot do. Last edited by Raider; 04-03-2015 at 04:33 PM. Reason: MSF Database - Automerged Doublepost

Grab Comex at Lowes. Trace out and cut it to fit. Spray with Krylon plastic paint. Then apply with oem mounting clips and it's done. Not clean, but works until you beg for it to be made professionally.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I've been waiting to go FMIC for this to come out. I'm very surprised no one else made something like this other than the Corksport air diverters. I've always had some sort of radiator shroud on every other FMIC car I've had, so I was sad to see no one made one yet when I bought my Speed. I asked Jamie if he had any intentions of making something like this a few months back and got excited when he told me to sit tight. Glad to see it's finally done and now I can move ahead with ordering FMIC stuff!

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I'll try to do some with and without once my tr8 goes in. Other platforms who have air diverter plates (the technical term) have lower temps. A hypothesis is that our car should perform the same. |

It's a damn good air damn, in my eyes. I just want a way to not lose tools. If I get lower temps, sweet.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I have not popped my hood in weeks. Yesterday, I did to fill up washer fluid (10 HP gains from RainX bug remover!) and it was so nice to see the clean piece. Now, the onkly thing standing out is the ugly intake manifold. I gotta do something this year about that. |
