Default What am I doing wrong...

So I am trying to install the EGR plug and I cannot get it to install flush. I have almost a quarter inch gap....any suggestions?

Mine didn't want to sit in flush either fwiw. Until I torqued it down without realizing my tq wrench was not set properly ftl. Now it sits flush.

I didn't put much if any muscle into it but I think it was more than 16ft lbs to get it to sit flush. Just glad I didn't break it.

That's what I was thinking after comparing the original egr's plug to JBR's plug. I'm going to wait a bit longer for other ideas before I tighten and RTV it.

I attached picture to show the differences... The first two shows the gap but the plugs are now the same size and the last one shows where the JBR plug has to be to tighten flush; but it's now longer.

Well...I RTV cream pied the plug and went for a short drive. Everything seems fine; STFT are normal for now. I'm getting my autotech internals installed tomorrow but not by me. With the difficulties I had with the EGR delete it's probably a good idea.

Next up AP and Guardian Angel...

It's fine, it's not suppose to be flush. Once it's tight, it's tight. The RTV is for extra piece of mind.

On a slightly different note, is it possible to install the block-off plate and put the EGR tube back on instead of using the plug? I only ask because come inspection time, I've heard of some places doing a "visual" inspection just to make sure it's there.

I wouldnt see y not. But then u have a direct flow of air to ur IM. So any type of debri would go directly into ur valves and thats no bueno

Yes absolutely! Stealth EGR delete. Use a little red RTV on either side of the block off plate and slip it in between the tube flange and the head. Leave the stock gasket on the tube flange side as well. Done!!
