(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score yet another JBR 88 review 1. Do it. Because fucking racecar. I have less than 20km's on the mount, and the vibs are fuck all. Cold startup is loud, load on the engine under 2000rpm's is rough. That's it. Once you hit 2000 rpm everything magically smooths out. You shouldn't be under 2000rpm anyway. So, around town, you don't really notice it. That's without it settling in. Vibrations will go down from there. Seriously. Makes the girlfriend wet. Anyone who thinks the vibrations are too much needs to trade their car in and buy a corolla. 2. Get the 88. I was on the fence over whether to get the 88 or 80. I literally punched myself in the throat for even considering the lesser product. 3. what a limp dicked piece of shit the factory mount is. I can move the mount with two fingers. What the fuck Mazda?? 4. Install was mega easy. If you can figure out how to dress yourself in the morning, you can put the mount in. Hardest part for me was getting the car on ramps. "Shallow slope for lower riding cars" my ass. 5. Shifting: holy shit. I already had the SSP/SSB/heavy knob. Loved the precision of the shifter, but there was still some notchyness. That's completely gone now. Shifting is completely telepathic. I think about a gear, and the shifter moves its self. Seriously. Paranormal shit going on. 6. Traction: who knows. Failwheel drive + winter tires = no traction below 4th gear anyway. Looking forward to seeing how much wheel hop is reduced. 7. In case you didn't pick up on my tone, BUY THIS GODDAMN MOUNT. Anyone who doesn't say the same is a pussy and needs to drive either a corolla or Grand Marquee. UPDATE: I have about 600kms on the mount now, and it has settled down quite a bit. The engine still roars to life on cold starts, but other than that this thing could pass for factory. Idle is noticeable but not unpleasant whatsoever. The vibrations under load <2000rpm are only <1500 now, and the slight vibration I found while cruising at highway speeds is gone. I thought I would enjoy this mount for its advantages and live with the drawbacks... There are no drawbacks. This thing could honestly pass for OEM in a performance-oriented car. Fuck the 80a, fuck the 70a. Get the 88. 6 MONTH UPDATE: Other than a very small, ~200rpm window around 1400-1600 rpm under load, I can't notice any vibrations whatsoever from this mount. Others may notice it, but for me, It's completely unnoticeable; almost boring. I can't wait to get the side mounts to bring back the rough feel. I honestly miss it. Wheel hop is also non existent.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I have 70kms on it now, and have another observation... cold startup with this mount is the coolest fucking thing in the world. Ever see a radial engine start up? like the engines on a WWII Bomber? that's what it's like. Coolest effect I've ever seen/heard. I'm hoping it doesn't go away as it settles in

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score No problem Jaime, it's well deserved for designing such an awesome product. @breakfstincluded, you definitely should have gotten the 88. I honestly don't see any reason to get anything softer. Mine is already starting to settle down (albeit slowly) with barely over 100kms on it. I had previously planned on going with the 70a PMM/TMM because I didn't want a huge amount of vibration; after feeling the bone I'm sold on the 80s. Only question now is whether I'd rather be fully mounted or lose my balance shafts (with TMM).

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Since this is back from the dead, I might as well give me impressions at the 6 month mark... Other than a very small, ~200rpm window around 1400-1600 rpm under load, I can't notice any vibrations whatsoever from this mount. Others may notice it, but for me, It's completely unnoticeable; almost boring. I can't wait to get the side mounts to bring back the rough feel. I honestly miss it. OP updated with same.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Go for the dogbone man......trust me its worth the extra performance gain. I originally had a 70 and while it had zero vibes, its nothing like the 88.

| Not Ranked : 0 score it will die down significantly if you just installed all 3 at once. give it around 1000 miles to be totally broken in. youll love them though

| Not Ranked : 0 score i just installed the 88 rmm along with ssp and bushings this weekend and I absolutely LOVE the way it sounds when I start my car and the vibes!! I don't understand why anyone would think the vibrations are too much?? I would call you a pussy but from my own personal experience my pussy loves it I'm still fine tuning my shifter, but each shift already feels amazing! Thanks Jamie!! |
