3071 and a strang studder

So this problem just started on me. When i go to boost the car sarts to studder and its like brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and your rolling the "r"s on the top of your mouth. Im leaning towards maybe spark plugs. It drives great as long as im not loading the car. Im running the Grimspeed 3 port set up and cobbs new stage 2 map.


I have also been toying wih the idea of putting a mbc in for the GS. My friend has a new turboxs mbc in the box. ideas there?

Sure, check the plugs. If they look good, test the coils.

Based on you logs and what you posted...

Your probably hitting fuel cut. Do you have upgraded cdfp?

Your di fuel pressure looks like $hit.

You should be holding 16-1800psi but you can see from the attachment, your di fuel pressure drops to ~500psi.

Time to give CPE or KMD a call for Cam Driven Fuel Pump internals.

I recommend you stay away from WOT for time being.

Well what would make the boost over boost so hard. The boost needle wants to shoot up to like 25. I know it cost to play but those internals are steep lol.

$400 for internals is allot cheaper than $6k+ for a new motor.

If you can't afford upgraded CDFP internals, I would suggest you work on lowering boost down ASAP so that you don't grenade the motor before you get the cdfp internals installed.

What are u using to control boost? MBC/EBC?

I can afford the internals just have to wait till after chirstmas. Im running AP stage 2 map w/ a Grimspeed in 3 port mode, i lowered the duty cycle by 30%. Im thinking im going to switch to the my Turboxs mbc until i get a protune and the internals. Also the 3071 is set up with the IWG.

seriously hear me out, if you dont get a) fuel pump upgrade and b) an actual solid tune ....you are gonna grenade your motor man....

i see low fuel pressure, inconsistent AFR, inconsistent boost, 6 point of KR, super high loads for a stock bottom end...... do what you want but I am telling you, if u keep driving that car as is I guaranteee that you will have shrapnel real soon.

Im confused right now. Im buying the KMD internals first thing in the morning but i dont understand why im seeing shit tons of knock at random times. Here are a few more logs of me not boosting but getting random knock. Im just using a ots stage 2 map. I did reduce the wgdc by 50%. It wasn't doing this when it was warm, could the cold really be ruining my life this much?

that part throttle KR is it within the first 15 min of the car warming up ??

Lenny those logs are from cruising down the interstate in 6th gear. im running a Cobb stage 2 map. and for boost im using the grimspeed in 3 port mode.

ok but is that like within the first 15 minutes of driving and shit??? cuz usually around 3k we all get phantom KR... which I wouldnt worry about.... do me a favor ....next time u log that... leave the foot on the gas at the same position and does it go 6.0, 5.5, 4.9, 3.7, etc etc etc until it hits 0????

cuz thats what pretty much all ap cars do when its warming up. mine though doesnt do it anymore ever since i swapped the 3071 in there

What octane do you have available in your location?
Stupid question, but are you using the correct octane map?

What spark plugs are you running? OEM? What are they gapped at?

Based on your mods, I would recommend running 1 step colder plugs.
Or at least that's what recommend by Cobb.
Not sure on the gap..but I am sure you can find if you search.

IMHO, what's happening is that the colder weather is causing your OEM CDFP pump to work harder than it was during the warmer temps (spring/summer). Which is causing it to fail.

I have seen this many times on the forums. Add the leaner a/f and you have your knock and potential for ZoomZoom Boom.

No those maps were from cruising for over 30mins. Im running 93 octane with denso step 2 colder.

I usally see .3, .7, 1.3, 5.4, 7.1 the highest i have saw 8.1. It normally climbs so i left off.

if its out of boost... check for leaks and if u have none its the AP... its phantom KR... i wouldnt worry about it unless u are in boost and higher loads....

the fuel pump, you will feel a difference! and it will run smoother, no more wot till you get them!

spring stretch, 1 step colder..
if your missing it will show as kr..
the pump may clear up the kr...
