Default Another Intake Manifold Option

I got back my factory intake manifold today from Pablo aka SPEED6 KILLAH. I had sent it to him for porting based off of someone elses' recommendation. The work he did in my opinion is as good if not better than Grimmspeed. For one he sends it back to you 100% ready to bolt on. All the necessary holes have been filled, etc. He actually ports the intake runners and then where the rod for the VTCS butterflies went through is filled with JB weld and sanded smooth on each and every runner. I dont think GS goes that far. He also did some porting near the throttle body opening as well, which I didnt expect or even ask for.

I'm not going to say how much he charged me as he may want to adjust his price if he gets a lot of people wanting the same work done. I will say this, its a fraction of what GS charges and IMO better work. He had the manifold back in my hands 3 weeks after the day he received it. Plus I like keeping my money in the hands of other members if possible. Grimmspeed does make some nice stuff for us, but IMO what they are charging for the same work is a bit excessive.

Huge thanks and props to Pablo!!

Here are some pics:

Pablo is a good friend of mine and does great work on these manifolds.

Don't shit on Grimmspeed. You obviously don't have all the info.

Not shitting on GS at all, I have a couple of their products and am very happy with them.
I almost had the IM porting done through them. What I didnt like is that for $349 you get a manifold back that you still have to plug holes in order to install it. Also the $349 doesn't include their ceramic coating, which they dont even state in the description.

So like I said, it's my opinion ONLY that their price is excessive for what you get. I based my decision off of what other people who have had their manifold ported by them have reported. I had all the info I needed to make an informed decision.

Please explain why my Grimmspeed mani didn't require holes to be plugged prior to install.

I can't, maybe after enough people complained, they refined their process? Which is a good thing. Because for $349, not including the ceramic coating it should be a direct bolt on w/o any further mods. I'm glad you didnt have to do anything to yours, that's how it should be IMO.

Be sure to turn your boost back up as you are going to loose at least 2 psi but you will not loose power with that 2 psi drop.... looks good good job pablo

The hole plugging is nice but it is not needed. There are many many guys running ported manifolds with awesome gains that have the holes open and just the rod removed. In any event, the mani looks GREAT

$349 and that doesn't include the ceramic coating, return shipping and you have to send in your own manifold.

I wanna even out the flow differences and am contemplating on the most cost effective option. GS seems to create quite a bit of flow.

I got my manifold ported AND ceramic coated for cheaper than what GS charges just to port the manifold. My flow imbalance has been evened out to less than 5% across the board.

To be honest it's going to be hard for me to pinpoint gains with this because I'm bolting it on the same time I do my turbo swap (3071gtx). My goals were to reduce the flow imbalance and increase flow through the manifold.

I will have gain information on my car here hopefully this weekend. The only upgrade I am making is the intake manifold. My New Intake Manifold OP, not trying to threadjack bro, just trying to provide the information on manifold gains!!! I'll delete if you want this out of your thread.

No it's cool, I'm curious to see the gains as well myself. That's the only bad thing about bottling on a bunch of stuff at once. Hard to tell what made the most gains.

Yah, I hear you. I will report back as soon as I have definitive information. The only other mod I will be doing is adding an additional intake gasket, so I will be stacking 2 together to help lower the BATs.

Quick update...looks like the intake will be delayed one week. My injector seals will not arrive until Monday, so I have to push back the install one week...no desire to pull intake 2 weekends in a row!!! March 4th I will have data. I will use this weekend to take some logs so I will have a base from which to evaluate gains from the install.

Just incase you guys have not read about this being done before. I believe that with pablos intake it should yield pretty close to these results. The job that he did was really clean and smooth. There might be more threads about this that you can read while you are awaiting his results on his test.

MAP PERFORMANCE INTAKE(post 57 is where your answer is)
MAPerformance Ported Intake Manifold

INTAKE MANIFOLD that i ported
ported intake hp

It would be interesting to see what you come up with though...

Nice work Pablo! Everything look very thorough!

Just to clarify, we do not fill the center holes, just the end ones to seal the manifold off. Once the manifold is pressurized the holes will have no affect on the performance of the manifold.

Yes, huge gains but you need to open up the runner deep into the manifold and cut the manifold apart to get the areas after the bend of the intake. Also, you may have to weld the edge of the manifold where the short runner is if you want even the floor of the manifold. There is 3 to 4 hours of welding and when you are done you need to have the surface machined flat again.

We are getting ready to release a cyl head that has very similar work done to it.

The stock manifold outflows my ported head so I dont see the point other than balancing the flow and bragging rights. No one has a head that out flows mine yet so I think its kind of a waste of money.

I think the stock IM out flows my head by about 40cfm at .500" lift, so its not even by a little and no one is running anything even slightly close to a .500" lift cam. I bet at .300" lift it outflows my head by 100cfm or more. Ide have to check my thread again.

I think the stock IM out flows my head by about 40cfm at .500" lift, so its not even by a little and no one is running anything even slightly close to a .500" lift cam. I bet at .300" lift it outflows my head by 100cfm or more. Ide have to check my thread again.
I can't image how much mine will be then with my head.

I think the hp gain is just from balancing the flow, it really might be that bad.

And when you say "really might be that bad" you're referring to the balance of the flow?

Thanks!
