| Not Ranked : 0 score These guys make great turbows! APT is the way to go! APT Engineering - Australian Precision Technologies Lolz, these guys actually do look like they make quality products(but not turbos). Maybe we should be going with APT.

gsr type 1 hit 380 on a happy dyno.... driver311 hasnt yet ran 22psi on it. i think close to 400whp is doable with correct engine mods and condition. he hit 355 on 19psi..... hit another 3-4 lbs and some meth and more aggresive timing and i think 400 would be possible. thats like saying u cant hit 450whp with a 3076.... no one has done it... but do u really think it cant be done?

| Not Ranked : 0 score 22psi is perfectly efficient.... for a 3071r 22psi is like 16-17lbs for a ko4 i think when people buy a turbo they need to first set their goals...achievable goals not pipe dreams . if i was going for a 400whp motor the 3071r would be my choice. now buying a 3076 that is efficient up to 26psi or so and making your power with only 22psi...i think that is when u get drivability issues where the turbo now feels top heavy and weak on the bottom. but w/e everyone can make up their minds and buy what they want.... in the end this argument will never be settled....kinda like the debate over 650 750 or 850 double pumpers u know....every asshole has to get an 850 cuz it just sounds better.

| Not Ranked : 0 score There seems to be enough people pushing ~380WHP on stock internals to prove that the engine can handle it so long as your tuning is good.

| Not Ranked : 0 score ill say this........my results are the LEAST YOU CAN ACHIEVE. i guarantee you that any other speed with my mods makes 20-40hp more.... im at 80k miles, i burn oil, i got low compression... some of my hp flies right by the rings into the crankcase. yet i can still achieve an honest 340-350whp on a dynojet (depending on temps) and be a safe tune, low timing low knock so an 09 speed3....shit man... 375whp eyes closed!!! and im sure 400whp pushing it to 22-23 psi with meth is more than doable

| Not Ranked : 0 score This is just my opinion, But I think 400 whp with a 3076 would be a little easier on the stock motor than a 3071. That being said, I agree that with right parts&tune, a 3071 can flirt with 400 whp. I just think if your stuck on 400 whp-stockmotor, then the 3076 is a easier and possibly safer way to go, and ofcourse its proven. The 3071 spools up faster and I believe it is the perfect turbo for this 2.3 liter motor.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Dustin lives in New Mexico (5500 ft) and dyno'd using SAE correction factor. It adds A LOT of power. I'm not trying to diss on him at all, but his uncorrected power (what he actually makes at that elevation) is much lower. SAE correction is garbage when the elevation is that much higher than sea level. If he were to come down to sea level, I would bet you one million dollars he would not make 450.

Hey Thanx again, Yea 375 WHP or so would be MORE than enough for me. I had a 05 EVO that made 373 WHP( Dynojet) and the thing was CRAZY fast . If I could get that out of a 3071R with my mods looks like I may have this done this spring.

| Not Ranked : 0 score 3071 turbo will def emerge as the all around favorite turbo for our motors and is very capable of fitting into a wide range of power goals. I made 350 at 21PSI with a shitty run and think I could easily turn that into 365-70 so yeah 400 could be doable on a 3071 if EVERYTHING else is done perfect and you tune to the limit. You also need to qualify your goals. If you say I want 400 HP, do you just want a sheet that says 400 but then you will DD the car and just want it to be responsive? Then a 3076 may be too big. If on the other hand you are dead set to have 400WHP at your disposal at all times on a conservative tune, then perhaps a 3076 is a better choice.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Thanx ,Definitly a DD for me. 400WHP EH?/ Not realy just as close as I can get and still have a DD that is good to drive to the grocerey store on go rip at the track.. Looks like the 3071R is the right choice for me. An will NOT be maxing out the tune I do not need this thing to go BOOM cause I tried to get 400WHP and tuned it to an inch of it's life. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Dustins 3071 was better than the ATP but his 449whp dyno was still 370 before correction factor... and don't forget that was with an MS6 on an AWD dyno and he was at 5500ft. Bring that setup down to sea level and put it in an MS3 - it would put down 400whp no problem.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I think a sweet spot for a 3071 would be a T3 with a .63/64 hotside. I bet the spool difference between a .55 and .83 is very noticible...the .63/64 would be a good compromise. With that said, an ATP 3071, if you already have all the other mods and don't want to buy a new DP and EM, is a great setup and will still make plenty of power for a DD.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I have .82ar on 3071 and it spools instantly. I wouldn't go any smaller than .82 on 3071. You get the spool and the top end.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Can you qualify "instantly" 300RPMs 500RPMs etc? and at what RPM are you going WOT? The lower the RPM the slower the spool for sure. I can go WOT on my GT28 .55 and it takes about 300RPMs to reach full target boost from about 2.8K and up with EBC. With MBC it takes about 200. that is instant in my mind. This is very subjective for sure and there are many variables of course.

| Not Ranked : 0 score At about what RPM would you say that turbo "Hits" under 4k? I'm still debating between a .63 and a .82 A/R 3071R.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Spnkr is built though If im not mistaken, so he has the goods to withstand all that low end tq. Yeah I have no doubt that even a .82 ar 3071 would spool fast. Our 2.3 liter 4 while it has a few negatives, it has the ability to bring turbos alive rather quickly, Ive heard 3076 and 35r turbos reaching full spool before or @4k, cant bitch about that. Just be awesome to have some performance cams in this car, imagine a strong powerband that keeps climbing til 7500, oh my *jizz*

| Not Ranked : 0 score I dunno if the rest of you guys care about this, but I was looking up some info on holsets after I saw someone here running an h1c - there's a manufacturer named bullseye that makes smaller hotsides for the hx-35. Shot them an e-mail, and they make one with a t3 flange for v-band that has something like a .70 A/R, but I honestly don't know enough about turbos to comment further. Figured it would at least be comparable to the 3071, which does seem to be an ideal turbo for a wide variety of applications. That and the 2871 are just about perfect for the ms3 guys b/c of the traction limitations we have. |

Funny you mention this also. The guys that tuned my car had one on there Subi, Legacy sedan an was making 350 AWHP on their mustang DYNO with it. But I do not want to change anything else, IE mani or DP just want to slap something on and go!!! So I guess the 3071R with the .82 is good? IS this an option from ATP?
