Default BNR S3

update: went to a 5858. Built engine.

I know this is nothing new, but I thought id post up my turbo swap and the results. Be aware I am in Alaska and I only have access to 90oct. (or Sunoco race gas if I want to shell out $10 a gallon); But for now I'll be running 90oct. and meth.

My goals are around 360whp/whtq if possible to achieve safely.

Power Mod list (IIRC) & rest of mods on my mods in signature:

- V3 Accessport
- Autotechs
- HTP 3.5"
- NGK Iridium IX Plugs,
-Meth w/ 5 gallon tank (probably run 100% with a d010-d012),
- JBR EGR Delete
- CX Racing Front Mount
- 3" Downpipe,
- Self PNP Manifold
- CPE Safeseals
- Custom Aluminum Vented Catch Can (same as Kosmics)
- Wotbox
- Custom 3" Exhaust

Whats coming in:
- BNR S3
- Grimspeed EBCS
- 3 Bar Map w/ Harness

Ordered everything on 12/10/14 from Revolution Performance Motorsports, because my turbo is smoking bad. However there is a 1.5- 2 week back order on the turbos, so hopefully it comes in soon.

I'll post up the swap, vd's, videos, and possibly a mustang dyno run this spring on here.

Yup, I almost just changed my order with a GT3076 yesterday, but realized how broke I am lol, so I didn't. Anyways RPM and I have been communicating and he's going to try to get me my turbo as fast as possible. I'll give him call Friday to see if BNR have the parts they needs yet to build the batch.

I first bought the @JgamB; fabbed ecu relocation tray (which works great by the way) but it didn't fit with my 3.5 in htp whale penis. It fits the JBR 3.5 though so I guess it depends which 3.5 you are going to get. I searched around and saw some people who just mounted the ecu to the front of their stock battery tray. My whale penis was rubbing on the side of my stock battery box though so I just ended up investing a little bit of dough for the JBR 51r battery tray and it worked like a charm.

The BNR dosn't really compliment the 6 as much as the 3. My friend has a speed6 with a bnr and on e85.

Pretty much. I just cannot afford it. I didn't just order the turbo and boost controller and map sensor. I ordered some new meth stuff, and I am finishing up my catch can. I'll post pictures soon. I also have to pay for a new tune.

Ooh OK. Hmm so I should be looking bigger? I want to go with the rpm deal as I thought that's as big as I safely could go on a stock block. It's my daily I just want a little more power to play with.

What are your power goals? You can safely achieve up to around 380whp/whtq with the right mods, fueling, and preventive maintenance.

However 380whp on a bnr s3 on stock block is pushing it. Thats why I say a GT3076 is a good turbo for a daily car. Its even nice to have later spool up for good gas mileage.

Keep in mind the motor isn't doing less work because your AWHP is suffering from parasitic loss. Conventional wisdom is 360-380 on a speed3 after ~10% DTL is a "safe" zone, and also factor in the spool characteristics of the BNR are going to be neutered for rod safety. Once you start pushing more HP, you're producing a lot of heat and threatening the ring lands.

There are benefits to both methods, and risks involved with asking for more. You'll certainly find outliers that make 400+ and have a long healthy engine life, and you'll also see conservative numbers that result in premature failure. Simply going bigger on a turbo, even if you stay IWG to reduce cost with a GTX3076r, doesn't mean you aren't increasing the potential for engine damage to produce more power.

Food for thought. Shit gets expensive fast when things do cooperate, and even more so when they don't.

The car is a around town car and hardly sees highway but gets drag racing 3 or 4 times a year.

Thats correct is because of the size and drivetrain loss of the 6. On e85 the 3 will make about 380whp. However, the 6 will prob make 30whp less. I have a bnr as does my friend with a 6 and there both e tuned.

Id go with the gt3076. If you want something that spools up faster go with the gtx3071. OR spend $$$$$$$$$$ and go precision kit for later spool.

However lets see how well I preform on this turbo. The turbo should be here around next week. Thank god because my car is down. RPM is taking care of me.

You need an exhaust manifold with the 3076. BNR you can use the stocker. You just need to get minor stuff like ebc,3 bar map,3 inch intake.

You dont need an exhaust manifold for the 3076, you have the atp bolt on kit which uses the stock flange

Yup you can pick up any of these garret turbos listed by myself in these posts with a mzr flange and kit that bolts up to our cars. ATP makes them. They're on pretty much every website.

I guess the bottom line is the gt30's are much more expensive and it depends on your power goals.

That's why i went with the bnr, is cheaper and since my power goal is to be around 380 and staying on stock block it's the perfect turbo for me. Now if you're planning on building your block and go pass 400 hp then you might want to invest in a bigger turbo. I made 385 uncorrected on a mustang dyno and im super happy with the way the car drives.

Yeah I dont think 400whp is possible on a BNR speed6 even with meth and e85.

Subbed to see how things work. I too got a speed6, long story short, motors getting rebuilt (88mm pistons) should be done here in about a week. Next major purchase will be a bt. I'm kicking around a 3071 or bnrs3. Looking for around high 300's and have access to e85 but really dont want to have to deal with meth (also cause I don't know much about it yet). Hopefully you get yours running before me in Feb, you might be my deciding factor haha.

You'll be really happy with a BNR S3. It barely spools slower than the k04, and with some E85 you can get some real power out of it. It's the turbo this car should have come with from the factory.
