If you want to make more power on pump gas then yeah, its worth the extra 150$. Plus so much more room for power later down the line. | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Here is a comparison of my e30 mix k04 tune vs my bnr on 91 octane tune. I did pull timing in the mid range after this k04 log and on a dynojet I put down 319whp 335wtrq with the K04 on e30 mix. I haven't dynoed the bnr yet. Last edited by Dennisms3; 03-29-2016 at 10:08 PM. |

That's why I run a gallon of methanol in the gas tank. Works wonders with 94 octane. I'm able to get away with 17 degrees of timing, and 18.5 psi at 6k rpm on the K04 with no knock. On top of that I run WMI with a small nozzle to keep BAT's cool and power consistent. Just need an S4 to take full advantage of my setup. I also don't plan on building the block any time soon, but if I do the S4 should be plenty.

Would it be possible to over boost at lower rpm's if the wastegate actuator is adjusted too high on the s3 or s4? I know the K04 does this all the time. I had to zero out wgdc until 3000 rpm to keep boost in check at lower rpm's. I read somewhere that this was happening with the BNR's and then they started shipping them with a lower wastegate setting to open around 12 psi.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Why is this thread even still going? All this theory talk, when you can just buy it and find out for yourself. Makes more power on pump gas, can be maxed out on a built motor and aggressive tune with sufficient fuel and has better boost control than even the v2 BNR S3. If you dislike the turbo for whatever reasons It won't be the end of your car, I ran the GTX28676R and will now be going BNR S4 this go around before trying out a Precision turbo on a vband setup. JUST DO IT.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I picked mine up used so it didn't come with any exhaust studs or nuts. That was my only problem. Extracting the old rusted ones off my turbo and reusing them. PITA! Otherwise i did it without having to remove the exhaust manifold.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Been driving on an almost complete 91 tune S4 for sometime now and can say hands down the S4 is superior to the S3... I remember when the S3 was claimed as the best turbo for daily driving and stock block <<< that can't be said anymore.. The off/on boost delivery is perfect with smoother and stronger power... The best part? the power band is widened up to perfection... It has a strong hit (maybe not as fast as the s3) but the continues chugging of the turbo all the way to redline just has a different, kick ass feel now... inherents a good side effect; the feel of taller gearing. WIN Even though I really want to start my meth tune... it's at a real good place with just 91 so no big deal.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Installed the S4 this weekend and tune is still in progress. Here's where I'm at versus the k04 in similar temps(82F). All mods are the same other than the turbo and intake. I always stopped my k04 pulls well short of redline as the power always would fall off to under 280ish with the DJ factor, now it's balls to the wall till redline.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I've decided to go s4. My car has been down because of the 1 of the POS oem injector seals blowing, and CS was out of their beauties until the end of April. While all this has happened I decided i'll be taking off my s3, and will be getting the s4. And the seals should be here tomorrow. So yeah, I'll be putting an s3 up for sale this week/weekend sometime. Just have to stop being lazy an actually remove it. And go green again I see.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Why would you upgrade from an S3 to a CS anyway man? That's a sidegrade, not an upgrade. Hope the S4 works for you. I'm probably going the opposite direction (smaller) after having the S3 honestly but I can understand the appeal of big turbo power especially for how cheap the S4 is. It's an amazing value.
