Hey guys, originally from the TM3 forum but i see that there are MUCH more guys on here who actually know what they are talking about lol…. basically what i have completed november of 2013 was the following:

- catted DP
- Test Pipe
- Cobb Accessport
- Auto-tech High Volume Fuel Upgrade Kit
- Spark Plugs - ITV-22 Denso Plugs
- GFB ByPassValve
- CX Racing Front Mount Intercooler
- JBR Motor mounts 88 Duro
- DMP Turbo Manifold
- BNR Stage 3 Turbo
- Meth injection stg 1 bst cooler
- Mishimoto Catch Can
- EGR Delete
- 3 Bar Map Sensor
- Plug and Play map Harness
- JBR IM TIG
- JBR TB TIG
- Injector Seals
- Grim speed EBCS
- HTP 3” wide path intake
- Wiseco Pistons overbore
- Eagle H-Beam Rods

Dyno tuned (toronto, Ontario) 348whp/414wtq

Now, after to speaking to LEX at stratified tuning he is telling me that i am running too rich, and a couple other things. now i have spoken to other technicians/tuninng specialists about this and they have taken a look at my logs and said the exact same thing..

Why is it that my whp is much lower than the tq? i see guys on a stock block with a k04 making 350whp! these numbers do not add up to me… probably when it gets warmer i will be getting stratified tuned… but i would like to know if anyone has any idea whats going on here. I spoke to the tuner who tuned my car and he says the car is fine, and its running rich because its cold. but its constantly running too rich.. and the wheelspin causes knock…

i attached some logs, if someone can take a look at them and give me some advice that would be great.

Those numbers are pretty low. If you have already spoken with @Lex; I'm sure he has given you his opinion on it. Being built you should be pushing much higher numbers. A lot of people come into MSF with pro tune problems and a lot of the time it is bad tuning.

should i wait till it is a bit warmer outside like mid april to get tuned by lex?

also just to add i was running VTA before and just currently switched to VTI. checked for any leaks i don't see any.

Depends on how comfortable you are with the tune. If you think it is safe and if something goes wrong the shop will take accountability for it, then tune when you are ready.
If you are worried about it and have the funds, go ahead and start the tuning process. It sounds like you are pretty much finished adding parts so getting tuned now is perfectly logical.
MSF tuners are very knowledgable and will make sure the tune is set to adjust to all whether conditions. I have been tuned be Lex for a little over a year now on E85 and have had zero issues. I also tuned in the middle of the winter.

hmm, good point..

i am not really comfortable with my current tune for the reasons that i have heard the same thing from many people, running rich, knock, un even boost etc…

too bad 85 isn't available here will be using 94 + meth.

would you recommend upgrading to a bigger meth nozzle? i have the 325ml in there. i think i have a bigger one sitting at home

That would be something to discuss with your tuner. If he thinks running a bigger nozzle will help then so be it. Not to scare you or anything but this is the most recent "pro tune" issue on the forum.

after all what i have spent id rather get a proper tune and save my ass from spending another couple thousand for a new motor and other things…

Imho, your base #'s seem pretty average and not low. Leaning out the AFR's and working on you timing curve will help.. @Lex; has got ya covered, he knows his chit

I haven't done any tuning recently but when I stopped in the fall I was running a 25psi reverse taper and ~15* of timing @ RL and I was in the mid 360's.. We have very similar mods just to give you perspective

Hey, I just looked at your logs. It looks similar to mine but never dipped all the way to 9.5 in terms of AFR. I'm running a BNR too and tuned by one of the e - tuners here. Looks like we're targeting pretty much the same load 2.7+ and I'm seeing the same AFRs at those load but more around 9.99-10.11. I noticed this once my tune started targeting greater than 2.5 load.

sometimes my af dips down to 9 flat… i think thats the lowest the ap can log, so it may even be going lower who knows. it isn't the first time I've been told a lot of these things and from many different people/tuners of course except the one who tuned it. well see what the turnout is after lex is done with it

pulled into the garage not too long ago, got underneath the car to empty catch can and saw some wet oily spots under the motor.. got a closer look and found this

now my catch can was pretty full…. maybe over full… don't know what this means, first time I'm seeing this, definitely wasn't like this before. thoughts? its late over here so I'm going to work at it in the morning and see exactly where its leaking from, gonna let it run

also i must ad that before i pulled into the garage and emptied catch can, i did two WOT logs to send over to @Lex; turbo pulled hard, didn't hear any whining… assuming its a loose line but i will see what happens when i have the car up tomorrow.

That looks like the oil drain tube is leaking either at the top or top and bottom. There are two gaskets there that should have been replaced. If they were not it's a good idea to have them replaced.

Doesn't look to serious on ther surface, as Lex said, it looks like the oil return line is leaking because the gasket is either pooched or it was never replaced and they just tightened down the tube when they installed it.

If you want help let me know because I can come by and get manifold off you and help with this at the same time. Just go get some new gaskets and we can tackle this. Might get a little messy from the oil but I it's not a big job. You can probably solo it easy enough too.

got under the car today, couldn't get myself comfortable with doing the work on the floor under the car…

going to pass by my old shop and see if my tech can look at it to see where its coming from. i let the car run and i was under there with my light but i couldn't see any leaks. I'm assuming it will only start leaking when there is pressure from the turbo.

Do yourself a favour and read like I have told you many times before. . The oil drain tube is returning your oil to your reservoir. When your car is running oil is draining. So yes you will see it.

hello all! just an update… thankfully it was nothing major, just one of the crush copper o rings needed to be replaced on the line ontop of the turbo. car is good now!

getting a few things done in the next few days…

summer tires/rims put on, 255/40R17-xxr's
prosport gauges installed boost/oiltemp/oil press
injection light/low level light relocated in dash for a clean look
password JDM bumper straps (if i could avoid it, i would, tired of the bumper popping out lol)
fenders rolled/pulled on monday cause this setup is wide as fuck!
