Broke ass turbo forced my hand

At 105,000 miles on a turbo I have pushed hard it's entire life, The oil seals took a massive dump after tracking at VIR. I have been reluctant to go BT because of tracking the vehicle. I decided to put the BNR3 in and through tuning get more HP and push back the TQ a little.

Anyway here she is... The install is tomorrow so more picks coming. Also purchased a Cobb 3port Boost solenoid

good luck mounting that boost solenoid, I caved in and put it in the stock location because of the short wire, however cant do that with the BNR

So just under six hours and shes in... Very light drive after and smoked like a banshee at first. Clearing the massive amounts of oil out. I need some plugs in her now and @rfinkle2; is sending me a base map. Here are some pics.

Did take the exhaust manifold off and it was a little bitch. Also mounted my Cobb three port which is a nice little piece.

everyone said the S3 is a k04 with 2871 internals, this clearly isnt a k04's housing - whatsthe same, the exhaust side b/c the compressor side is clearly bigger...

Yes it's new internals and a hatachi housing.

Yes the S3 uses a machined K04 turbine housing and a GT2871 compressor in a larger Hitachi housing. I'm not sure what turbine wheel it uses but it is larger and flows more than the K04 turbine wheel. I believe it also uses a Garrett CHRA but not 100% on that.

We were beginning the turbo install by lunch. Had a blast. Learned a lot wif mah hands.

G35 sedan tried to Fuck with us while we were out for the test drive. If he only knew what could've happened to him...

OK NEED help and advise.

Started using oil after VIR. No real smoking issue except maybe a tuff on heavy accel.

Monitored and added oil as needed.

Replaced PCV valve and oil consumption increased exponentially 1 qt per 100 miles or so.
Massive amounts of oil in the turbo, innercooler, hot pipe, cold pipe, and intake

Replaced turbo

Now a lot of oil smoke from the exhaust 60 miles put on since turbo installed. NO oil in innercooler or upper pipes. Keeps fouling #2 plug. Swapped plug and coil with Number 3 still threw an p0302 after 20 miles or so. Smokes at idle, under light load (climbing a hill), a little under light bost and more when letting of of light boost (8 sec worth). I can drive about 25-30 miles before fouling #2

How is the plug fouling - is there oil residue on the plug?

Sounds exactly what was happening with my old bmw jeff.

But mine was because it was pouring to much fuel into the cylinders.

First #2 before turbo had a lot of oil residue.

Since then two plugs put in and black and wet. I think its oil, does not smell of fuel.

The plugs often get oil on the threads, as a matter of fact, Dj reports his plugs are wet in both his 3 & 6 and another guy recently was concerned about the same thing and has had no problems.

I don't think it is enough to throw a code, but some wet plugs is not necassarily related the issue.

I have done it that way twice. You have to remove the downpipe and you have to bend the metal lip at the bottom slightly while shoving the turbo in. Just make sure that you have the coolant return coolant line and vaccum hose installed before you slide it in to save time.

Ouch bro. Have you done a compression and a leakdown test? It sounds like you have high crankcase pressure.

Well I'm done for the day. I was going to drive her to work to do compression/leak down test but it's smoking so bad now it will not make the trip. Plug fouled with in 10 miles.

I feel your pain. I have the P0304 code. My gas mileage and power took a hug crap on me. With my luck one of my valves is stuck or burned. :-(

Not recently, but since I started using massive amounts of oil I get alot of part throttle knock. I figured due to oil inthe cyl. I have not hit wot in a couple weeks.
