Default BT experts... Why not this route?

I went with simple flow mods for the K04... cuz I plan on going BT next spring. I'll be adding all the mounts and what not till then.

I have been looking at options.... and there are way too many of them LOL. Stock type flange, top mount/Dustin kit, T3/Vband, 1.06/.86/.54 hot side IWG/EWG, VCTS delete, BSD delete..... FML!

Anyways, I ran across these in my searches, seems like a great deal. I've searched, and it seems no one has gone this route before. Is it simply cuz most people were fully bolted on the k04 before going BT and didn't want to start from scratch?

I was thinking of going T3/steedspeed EWG (maybe top mount) but this is very tempting. I'm not looking to break records. Shit, all you would need to add to this kit would be FMIC, CBE and a PERM and you're golden! Even includes big MAF and inlet and its vband... for $2100!?! oh and maybe ex mani...

I believe Street Unit sells the same kit but this place had it listed cheaper...

Mazdaspeed Turbo Kit 3071

Mazdaspeed Turbo Kit 3076

Discuss... Convince me why i should go which route LOL

uhhhhh.... all i see is the bolt-on ATP turbo kit... which is essentially what like 80% of the BT's on MSF are.

this is NOT the simple drop in kit that everyone gets with coolant and oil lines. It also comes with the DP, turbo inlet, 3" ATP intake w/MAF, and its a Vband DP connection, and you don't need any adapter for shit.

street unit's version... http://www.streetunit.com/ATP_GT3071...tp-ms6-007.htm

dude, you dont know what the fuck youre talking about. this is the atp turbo "kit" for our cars. you can buy just the turbo, which just comes with the coolant and oil lines... or you can buy the KIT, which comes with all that other shit. THIS IS the simple drop in BT "KIT" that everyone gets.

but props for finding it cheaper than streetunit's price.

I looked everywhere on this forum and I could not find anyone that purchased this kit. everyone I see that goes with ATP turbo's gets the drop in, usually CPE big turbo inlet, whatever mazda style DP, blah blah ... NOT Vband

I figured people had seen it before, but was wondering why no one gets it

EDIT: maybe its cuz I haven't been around long enough, and this is one of those "got lost in one of the crashes" situations that I see everywhere?

cause everyone usually already has all of that crap before they go big turbo. if you dont have that stuff, then get the kit. it will save you money. this is literally a drop in kit. but if you already have a dp, then there would be no point to getting this kit. which is why people probably dont get it. but most everyone is running some sort of setup that is extremely similar to this kit.

i can imagine that you couldnt find any info on anyone buying this because this is not really a BT "build" but more or less just slapping that shit in there.

Yeah, this is just your simplest solution for BT. I bought the ATP drop in last year since I already had everything else.
If you want big power, go with a T3 set-up. I am aiming towards that right now.

That's exactly why I was looking at the kit. Most of the stuff in my sig I already had on my 3, and I bought the intake and TP used cuz the 6 feels slow as shit compared to my 3 .... and I wanted a lil fastz till I go BT.

Just trying to figure out WTF I'm gonna do.... go all out? or just go for simplicity... Like this kit I'm thinking 400 hp would be enough for me!

AND even if I do go with this kit, I will sure as shit be doing a build thread. I want to go EWG though... Think I'm gonna call this company in the morning and ask if they could slap the EWG hotside on the turbo for a similar price.... FUCK BOOST CREEP

I'm also gonna talk to edge autosports to see what they can do... maybe do this kit with a GTX3071

I'm not BT expert but your general plans are a lot like mine.

Look into the gtx series turbos for sure.

Jacksonms30 seems to be really happy with his.

If you want to go EWG, ATP makes a pretty cool housing that makes things clean and easy.

Yes. Sorry 'bout that. I didn't read it carefully enough.

FWIW, the X series turbos look to have the creep issue resolved.

Conservatively, I'd say with stock manis (exhaust and intake) 350 / 350 with lots of meat under the curve.

I'm gonna post my opinion. Take it fwiw.

I've installed the gtx3076 bolt-on turbo from ATP over the past few days. Plan on unexpected crap, tight fits, and surprises.
ATP's oil feed banjo bolt is small. So small, in fact, that I'm thinking when i start the car it may develop a leak from around the copper washers We'll see. I hope not, but we'll see.
The one water line ATP doesn't include, you need to use the stock hardline and pick up some longer lines to connect to the main heater hardline (which coincidentally, hits the IWG vac side), but you have to bend that hard line so it doesn't hit the block or point towards the downpipe. Oh, speaking of the oil feed banjo bolt, I had to pull out a turbine bolt and shave the head about halfway down on a bench grinder in order for the banjo to slide into place over the feed hole. Woo.

This is what I would suggest: T3 flanged turbo of your choice. T3 flanged exhaust mani of your choice. (I might go DNP and have t3 flange welded on. we'll see). External wastegate. Downpipe of your choice. Custom oil lines.

A local hydraulic supply shop (there's a goodyear hydraulics around here that sells -an lines and fittings) should be able to hook you up with MOST lines and fittings.
Replace the hard heater line going over the trans with high temp silicone stuff and reinforce it or bolt it to place so there is no chafing. Removing that hard heater line will free up some hand space.

IMO, if you are gonna go with an aftermarket ex mani, it is a waste of money and airflow to get an ATP stock flange hotside. Get a T3 mani and turbo. You will net much more power, much bigger hotside, and only pay a few hundred dollars more for both the mani and turbo than just an ATP turbo alone. You can also get a mani with the EWG so you don't have to worry about getting a hotside for it. The mentioned kit is for those who want ease of install and sticking with stock-type mani.... not to get the biggest gains possible

I agree to an extent with some of what you're saying. Yes a 3076 is a difficult fit for an MS3 (from what I've read.... and I've read ALOT). However a 3071 doesn't seem to have half the fitment issues compared to the 3076. I really don't know how going T3 with ex mani would change this... but you will definately get more impressive gains for your effort.

Fortunately (for me) I have an MS6, which has a lil more clearance for bigger turbos (Hence why we can go top mount)... but the transfer case gets in the way of other things such as EWG dump tubes

I'm hoping to find a way without having to bang a dent into my DP LOL

though I think I'm still gonna go 3071 instead of 3076

Negative. We don't do seats. Don't have the storage space to hold a lot of material. And seats take a bit of material.

Fatguy, it is of worthy note that both gtx3071 and gtx3076 use the same size compressor housing. Teh size of the turbo in the install doesn't make that much difference until you step up to the GT35.
