Nice job. Few recommendations. Get the Z1 motorsports coolant hose. I ruptured the return line and the feed line was about to go. That regular line just can't handle the heat and burns up with time. Recock your hard coolant feed line so it is closer to the compressor side. I think you saw the issues I found on the manifold flange too. Nice thing is you can unbolt the 4 bolts nice and easy and just move the turbo out of the way to grind it if you want to tackle that.

well, I had some fail today. hooked up a MBC all Wrong, overboosted log attached.

Once I fixed this I took some 3rd and 4th gear logs and sent to DJ. I went though dougefresh thread and saw he overboosted a couple of times too so I'm a little bit relieved but still feel like a noob, and thats because I swore I hooked it up right.

You hardly overboosted in that first log. I had mine plummed wrong the first day, and after slowly going into boost to 5, and 10psi, I gave it 1/2 throttle and although I let off as it ripped past 20psi, it still went all the way to 29psi, lol. I'd be more worried about that kr of 5 in that first log. Glad you got it sorted out at any rate.

SO you didnt get any KR? Yeah I was trying to do a 3rd gear pull so as soon as I saw 23 PSI the car starting hesitating/bucking and I freaked lol. pulled off the highway and called support right away, fixed it and then did the next 2 logs. no hesitation or unusual sounds after that.

My DH alarm didn't go off... I may have, who knows. My boost will rip from 10-24psi in less than a second under normal circumstances. I left off and went to dump the clutch as it ripped past 22psi, but it was too late. The odd thing was the car wasn't making power. IDK what to make of it... happened a couple times (vac line was going to side port on top of ewg, and it looked like it was going to side air port, which is where it should have gone. Happened again to 25 and 26psi, then got it sorted. I also had the 21psi spring in there, which would hold a lot more than 21psi, so I swapped that out (my 16psi spring in there now holds 20psi).

I ordered a grimspeed MBC hoepfully with that my boost spikes will go away and Ill be able to dial the boost a little better.

I also cut about a half inch off the intake on the turbo side. In order not to hit the battery bracket I had to shove it in farther in the coupler and it was rubbing on the turbo inside the coupler. all good now.

Half an inch? Hmm.... i can do this on the next batch... but i'd hate to make it too shorty (it's always easier to cut more off than cut more on lol).

well damn something happened to my turbo. dont know when it happened but all of a sudden I couldnt get any boost and my turbo sounded like shit scraping. Took the chra off and this is what I found





Where would i order that crap and the blades worry me as well as the slight scarring.

well turbo is definitely cooked lol. It was fine on the freeway and I stopped at the gas station, then no boost and a god awful grinding sound. Now I have to wait 2 weeks for the next turbo.

The question is ....GTX 3076 or GTX 3582? I just gonna go all out

So your bearings died, right? You're getting lots of contact between wheel and housing? That sucks on a new, expensive turbo...GTX35r makes more power than the fuel system can support...do you really want the added lag?

If it were twin scroll, I'd say go gt35r. If single, I'd say 3076. From what I've heard, which isn't much, the gtx's flow more up top, but idk about helping spool or not. @chimmike needs to hurry the fuck up with his slow jank ass gtx3076 build.

What is the cause of this is what you need to find out. Did something get sucked in there? Is there a bunch of shaft play? I wouldn't go any bigger than 3076 personally if you drive the car daily. I can't tell you if GTX is worth the price over normal TS or not. The only change I would make to my turbo is .82 hotside instead of .78 and I can't even say that is necessary. On the dyno, my graphs never topped out and tapered off. It just found a block and didn't make any more power. Most likely I/C for me, but I don't believe it was the turbo.

well guys I have no clue what caused it. I bought the turbo used for 650 and its been doing fine. I was boosting 23 -24 psi when it died I guess but didnt even notice till I stopped at a store shut it down and then turned it back on and went on my way. its got a lot of shaft play now and it is contacting the housing. it will put around fine but there is no boost to be had. now I did change out the BPV the day before with a HKS but I would think that had anything to do with it. like I said it came without warning, at first I thought a boost tube came off but then I heard the scraping

Hmmm....got it used...not blaming the seller, but it's always a possibility that the bearings were on their way out. If it wasn't starved for oil, there aren't many other things that can toast such high quality bearings. At least you got it for 650 and not 1400.

yeah Im not gonna blame him at all you get what you pay for I know that. Hopefully I can have it rebuilt and have it as a spare lol. well I will buy a TS gtx 3076 w. .82 hotside in 2 weeks and stop playing for a bit, lol ill be happy tuned for 22 psi from now on lol. I get a bonus in november then Ill try some stuff out

no, the blades contacted the housing and show signs of being ground down.

As far as the BOV yeah I was wondering about that. The HKS sounds so weird its hard to tell if its surge or not. This sucks but thank goodness I have a backup vehicle.

Crazy, are you certain no metal got sucked into the motor? That would be my first concern.

If that turbo was Tim's, then it did see some high egt's for a while... and may have contributed. It sounds like the bearings failed, and shaft play enabled contact.

Just throwing this out there - was the compressor housing, the exhaust housing or the CHRA loose with respect to one another? With engine movement and all the tugging on the exhaust and intake side, if any of the housings were just a little loose they could have been pulled towards the spinning turbo and caused some damage.
