well, coming towards the end of this LONG ass road so, i figured i would post up the build thread and will update it as it progresses. for the most part, this was socks' old setup which i bought month's back from kilik on here.

this whole thing started with a race roots dyno/tune day. then ended with this fail thread here RR tuner fail fuck race roots.

anyways, goals - higher 400's for a little while, then going for 500's later one. i know the 35r might be a little big for the initial goal but, i will shoot for higher numbers later on, i just want this thing up and running smoothly before i get to going ape shit. this is 7 months in the making and im excited to finally be nearing the end.

K1 rods - and before anyone say's anything i've done A LOT of researching on these before buying. although inexpensive i feel these rods are MORE than capable to withstand high HP applications. there are a lot of 600+ hp vettes and camaros around here on these rods and even a 800hp supra running them with NO problems


Wiseco pistons - 9.5:1 ratio


TurboXS fmic


custom v-band DP and cobb exhaust


GT35R .82ar T3 V-band





there is still a BUNCH of stuff and little shit i still need to pick up but, ill be updating this thread as i go.

Looks good man. Couple questions, do you plan to have any bracing for the turbo? Dcr manifold looks like puresex, but with those long runners and heavy 35r, might be a potential prab. Also refering to the k1 rods. I too have heard good things. I also have heard of the k1 rods in 600 hp corvette setups too, but are those Corvette and Supra setups have the same cylinder pressure and stress on the rods as your setup will? From the little research I have done, the stres on a engine internal on a 4 banger wont be the same as a 6 or 8. Sometimes the rods are designed alittle differently,and have different dimensions compared to thier 4 cylinder cousins. I think if you plan to stay 500 whp or under youll be fine, but anything after that and Pauter&Carillo rods would be the best choice.

haven't got around to thinking about bracing yet, i was gonna get everything mounted up an running and see how it goes then get around to bracing if need be. ill be on full mounts so hopefully wont be too much movement going on there. the 35r really isn't that heavy it's somehow actually 6oz lighter than the 3071.

as far as cylinder pressure i haz no clue what kind of pressure those car's are seeing and what the difference between them are.

I know things never go as planned, well at least not for me, but do you have any forcasted timeline at all?

Also, did you ever mount up that DCR mani and 3071? I can't remember. What ever happened after the RR tune? Did you motor get fucked or what? I can't remember that either. Its been a time warp man....

im REALLY hoping by xmas this will be up and running. motors getting finished up as we speak, just got done with the machining. so hopefully next week start dropping in the internals an such.

but after the tune and taking it back to scott (see thread link posted in OP) you can see he pretty much fucked me. so result of that was bent valves. and the rings were pretty much no good.

mani and turbo never saw the car so, the 35r is the first BT this cars seeing. should be pretty good haha

yup. the whole setup minus the turbo was socks' old set up.


as for the wastegate, i've tossed this around a lot. im going to be running quite a bit of boost. so the 38mm should work out. wont know till it's together an running though.

The wg will be fine. I dont think thats the problem on the other car personally. Just my opinion and some may disagree but it theoretically should work great. Ive personally assembled srt4 that make 500whp at 30psi on tial 38mm wgs to ebay 38mm wgs. LOL This one will be just fine.

a place called pyramid did machining on the block. Clearwater cylinder head did the head work.
for everything came in a little over a grand.

Good to know since I'm going to be doing a lot of this stuff here in the near future, granted not up and running as soon as you are haha.

The only reason I'm having a shop install the internals is to balance and blueprint the motor before I drop it back in the car.

im curious to see how that DP will fit with the 35r. i told jason it would have to be tweaked (even on the 3071r), because i wasnt 100% thrilled with the fitment.

small update:

called up mark @ SU the other day and made an order. pretty much everything to get this motor done and buttoned up and back in my car haha. nothing too special, pretty much just all the OEM gaskets. rod bearing. main bearings. etc.

just a few more things i'd like to get such as clutch but other than that. all major shit is done. just about assembling an dropping in the motor and bolting everything up now. wont be long till i can start shooting for big numbers

he has the bigger hot side, and will probably run more boost than i was shooting for, lower boost targets and small hot sides require bigger w/g to get rid of excess boost

UPDATE.

finally!! this fucker showed up at my door today. the cluster fuck with holidays and shipping sucks! after the headache of dealing with 2 weeks of not receiving this thing it finally got here.

ACT race clutch. 6puck sprung hub.






the motor should of been in 4 weeks ago but, i wanted to order the clutch and have it here to put in while everything was out so i wouldn't have to deal with that headache later.

happy to say the motor will be dropped in and ill be putting up more pics of everything being bolted up here very soon!

nah, its not that bad. its just stiff, and i drive alot, even when my ms3 was my daily.

its a great clutch, grabs hard, and is tolerable for the street.
