The smaller turbo is the hx-30 the larger one is a Garrett gta4088bde

Everything but the blades are fine, but it's going for a total rebuild. The GTA40 however is NOS (new old stock) with the wastegate flapper welded shut.

well I woke up today, went to go meet the wife for lunch. Started the car it started right up and after about 15 seconds it started poping and running like shit. So I shut it off, started it back up and logged what looked like my meth nozzle turned on it the night. It is 82* outside when this log is taken

so after checking everything, and nothing was bad. I started it again, ran perfect after a few revs it was running like shit again. There was a big puddle of meth under the car, here is a video for you why





Cliff notes: meth nozzle turned on trying to fuck my life. But my car is a champ and runs perfect still

yeah man, put it up around 15psi or so. Especially if you're just doing it boost activated and not ramping.

This is what I planned on doing, I think I might go blow through maf and go 4"intake to give this turbo full potential for power and spool. snaild just did a vd of one of my logs and its 411hp 416tq @23psi

I should be getting my 3 bar map sensor soon, then I will work on my intake. The bump from 21-23psi seemed to make a notable difference.

The gain per PSI on bigger turbos is always much more noticeable....Especially on the top end.

Alright so here is a VD thanks to snailD, I don't know why it is so small. But it gives the idea of the power curve. VD #'s are 411hp and 416tq 22-23psi

The gt28 @ 26psi 22° timing makes 410 hp ?tq
The gtx3071r @ 26psi 18°ish timing makes 415hp 427tq
The hx35 with the atpewg, @22psi 22° timing makes 411hp 416tq

I thought this was a fun comparison.

Whose numbers did you pull down for the gtx3071? Anthony made ~420 @ 22-23psi (with a little e85, of course), so 415 is quite low for that boost. It's a 500+ whp turbo at its limit...

Yeah, I am regularly in the 460-470whp range on VD (CF = 1.01) at 18.5° at 6500 RPMs with ~25-26 PSI when ambients temps are in the 40's.

I'd say e85 skews numbers pretty hardcore. Anthony was running a GT3076 though, iirc.

I made 420 on vdyno with 24psi and 14* peak timing with some meth.
