Default Gen1 5858 Build

I think it's finally time to create one of these for my on going build.

The story behind it all:
I bought a 2007 black mica ms3 from a used car dealership back in February of 2015. Exactly a week later the car bent two rods from a blown turbo leaking oil, causing it to hydrolock. I took the car back to the dealership, from there they told me to take it to a shop and have the knock diagnosed. So the shop tore the car completely apart (not labeling any bolts, nuts, etc.) After the shop came to a conclusion on what had happened and how much it would cost to replace the engine the dealership basically told me I was on my own from that point. So I took it upon myself to take the car back to my garage and just do a full build.

Parts:
-Precision vband 5858 dbb, .82ar hotside, 4in inlet, 3in outlet
-Precision 46mm wastegate
-k1 connecting rods
-wiseco pistons
-king rod and main bearings
-H11 headstuds
-oem headgasket
-full vvt kit
-custom exhaust manifold
-custom 3in downpipe
-custom underrouted intercooler piping
-htp 4in intake
-custom battery tray
-devils own meth injection 300psi pump
-Do14 nozzle
-Aem methonal controller
-Damond motorsports pcv plate
-Kozmic motorsports vented occ
-Kozmic oil return line
-Kozmic oil feed line
-Damond full engine mount set
-Southbend stage 3 endurance clutch
-treadstone tr8 intercooler
-GoFastBits BOV
-Corksport 3.5bar map sensor
-Cobb apv3
-bride shift boot
That's all that I can think of off the top of my head. I will update if anything else comes to mind.

Most of these pictures are going to be potato phone quality so I apologize ahead of time.

Never done this before. On any car lol I had speed solutions in Lonoke AT assemble the engine for me. And I work in a fabrication shop so I can get most the material for the exhaust stuff. A guy i work with made the manifold and down pipe.

Good looking build, interested in seeing what it puts down.

Small recommendation, go dual nozzle with your meth injection. There are a couple threads with solid evidence it will atomize better and deliver more octane with more even distribution among the cylinders.

Good luck!

Default Gen1 5858 Build

Are you not running a wastegate? I cant see from the pics if you have an ewg flange on the manifold but it looks like you dont and if your collector goes straight to your outlet flange like that then you wont be able to get an ewg flange anywhere where it would work.

Yeah, you listed that you have PTE 46mm Wastegate and i don't see an EWG flange on your manifold.

Better make sure you start tuning with a low pressure spring because that placement of the wg flange is going to cause a lot of creep

Correct me if i am wrong but doesn't wrapping a tubular manifold promote cracking over time with no turbo bracket to support the weight?

Any reason you didn't go with the cpe manafold?

It has a good wg placement and it can support a lot of weight.

I only ask since my build is very similar except for manifold/aux fuel purchase. Also are you going meth for fueling and not 5/6th port? If so how is your wireing going to be done? Progressive or boost switch? Why did you pick a 3 inch outlet on a 5858 instead of the 2.5 offered with the ported s cover? What are your hp goals?

Manafold looks awesome wrapped. can't wait to see some numbers!

You could be right about the manifold cracking, but my day job is actually tig welder/fabricator. So if it Cracks I'll just fix it. And I went with a custom manifold simply because it was cheaper. I made a package deal with a guy I work with. He's actually trying to start his own business that specializes in tubular manifolds, downpipes, etc. "Spoolin Fools" on Facebook, check him out.

Yes, meth for fueling simply because it was the less expensive route lol plan on PI after the car is up and running for a while. I picked the 3in outlet because I knew I wanted a 3in dp so it was easier to fab. I'm shooting for 500whp.

I managed to finally find the time to install my oil pan baffle this evening. I also got my valve cover and turbo compressor housing powder coated metallic purple.

And a little parts pic to go along with it.

Not a huge update but it's something...
Finished up the hot side intercooler piping today, started the fabrication on the wg dump, and the intake manifold is coming along nicely.

Just a little update picture. I've got everything except transmission fluid, basemap, and a little key on no power issue. I'm sure it's something simple I just keep looking over. I also found a killer deal on this jmf that I couldn't pass up.

Thanks for the support. A lot of people in this community are against custom parts.

Update:
Yet another issue rises... went to install AP to the car and it won't recognise the ECU. I thought maybe I damaged one of the pins while checking for power so I went ahead and replaced the port and all pins (total of like $12.) Still won't recognise it. Any ideas on where to start with that one??

I think I may have found the reason as to way a code reader or my AP won't communicate to my ECU. Whenever I turn the key to the on position the "engine immobilizer" light flashes rapidly. (This is the light that looks like a car with a key on it) if I understand correctly this basically means that my key code isn't communicating with my ECU? Kind of like the ECU thinks the car was stollen. Does anybody know of a way to fix this??

Hauled the car to the stealership yesterday... Sure enough, they're computer won't communicate with the ECU. With a whole trip an hour away I hauled the car back home. The immobilizer light is throwing code 16 "communication error with PCM (no response)"
I've checked the condition of all the wires going to the PCM itself, they all look brand new. I've checked all my grounding points, all are securely connected. All pins are in the correct place on the obd port itself, I'm leaning towards the PCM being fried. (Possibly caused from the positive fuse box cable being grounded before??)
Any input on this at all is greatly appreciated.

So took the car back to the dealer and they were no help whatsoever. They literally told me they don't know what the problem is. After a heated discussion with the two techs I eventually just left. I had a buddy of mine meet me on my way home so he could take a look at it. He unlplugged the harness for the fuse box under the hood, said there was a piece of plastic or something in there so he blew it out. Much to my surprise my AP immediately connected and the immobilizer light went away. Got the car home, had a few little leaks (oil cooler, fuel pressure sensor) fixed the leaks. Built oil pressure and what do you know, it fires right up! No leaks no weird noises purrs like a kitten! Now on to the break in!

Sounds good! Glad you got it sorted. Sometimes its the easy things that are the hardest to figure out.

Is that front bumper setup for additional cooling?

Little update for those interested.
I've gone through the break in period. Around 800 miles i started doing some wot logs for Justin Brasil. After a few pulls I started having issues with spark blowout so i bought a new set of 6510 plugs and gapped them to .024". Car ran fantastic for about 100 miles then started having issues again. I did a 3rd gear pull for Justin to see if he could tell what was going on. During the pull the car started cutting out again. But this time the fuel pressure dropped off to 505. I let out and took the car home. I noticed it was running a little rich on the drove home. I pulled into the drive and the CEL came on. "Fuel system too rich at idle" and "cyl 2 misfire". Ill attach a log of the pull for anyone curious. Now the car has trouble starting if i let it cool down. And afr's are around 11.8 ish at idle with hpfp pressure at 780 ish. Any ideas?? Stuck open number 2 injector? I've replaced the plug and stretched my coil springs already with no luck.
