Default Get a 3071 to spool faster?

These charts are also posted in my build thread but was wondering if other people are seeing similar time/rpm ranges to get their 3071's to full boost (currently 18.5 target for me).

Taking me till about 4,700 RPMS, which is longer than i expected. I know we are spoiled with the quick spool of the k04 from the factory, but if it takes 4,400 RPMs to get the 3071 up, how long/what RPMs do the 3076 take?

It does feel pretty damn good once it gets there though.

there's a whole thread on turbo spool times. But yours is super slow. You should be spooling it 1k rpm sooner.

Thanks i'll read through the spooling threads and see if i can find anything different about the setup.

Would the AWD account for some of it? I noticed this last chart is a speed3.

I'm pretty sure AWD puts more load on the engine which will cause it to make more boost faster, if anything.

Spring preload. Problem fixed, send me your money. Or a boost leak. Or a preturbo exhaust leak

When you say spring preload you mean i should increase the spring pressure on the Ewg? Leak tests are a good idea. Havent' done that yet. No obvious leaks though.

Yes you need to leak test. Also if you're say using a 10psi spring in the ewg...you're gonna have slow spool.

get a tuner here to look over everything. @rfinkle2; @Justin@Freektune; @ms3blackmica; @Lex; @RichieRichness; to name a few. if everything mechanical is in order then it's probably just the tune.

Get a tune from a tuner on here and you will be good. That set up should have no problem hitting 22 psi by 3500 RPM. Hell Im hitting 22 on my 3076 at 3500rpm

Who do you recommend? Anyone particular for this setup. I might consider that. But also a little light on cash having just finished this and paid for dyno tune.

Any of the etuners on here. Im self tuning now, but I did have an awesome tune by freektune. But any of the other guys can fix you up just as well.

Just out of curiosity, what numbers did your dyno tune net you? Edit: never mind, got the pic to load.

Fool don't you know there is no way you could provide a better tune than someone who is there with the car to diagnose any mechanical issues (which obviously didn't happen) @Mr Duckface Badass;

Increase vvt and lower timing for improved spool.

VVT is a good theory but doubt it's the cause of such a late spool. Something else is def at play. @86AmishMs3; also got me wondering what spring you are running.

keep in mind unless there is sufficient load put onto the dyno, it will spool slower than on the street. a buddy i tuned with a 3071 sent me logs from the dyno and was spooling 20psi at 3600rpm on the street and not until 4700rpm on the dyno. keep in mind the altitude of 4500ft isn't helping his spool time (stock manifolds)

Didnt know the spring pressure of the wastegate could affect spool time...will this be an issue also with a 3port EBCS???

Yeah man, a WG will crack open and bleed boost if the spring pressure to too soft and if WGDC targets are too low. However, this doesn't appear to be the issue since spring pressure is 1 bar.

Damn...I got a 8psi external wastegate for my build...I was sure that the WG would be remain closed during spoolup with a 3port EBCS (interupt mode) and the proper WGDC tuning
