Question GT2871R - Best manifold ? DNP, steedspeed or OBX

Hello everyone,

My first post in the forum (sorry if somes grammatical mistake French is my first language)

I have a Speed 3 1st gen with GT2871R, CPe DP catted + racing beat catback.

I'm using the stock turbo manifold. I try to found somes info for the best manifold for the price.

We can found OBX at 250$ and steedspeed at 750$ and between DNP at approx 565$. If you know other brand please give me info

What is your suggestion, somes people have one of this manifold coupled with the GT2871R. At wich RPM the best increase power

Thanks

obx is cheap stuff, idk if i would trust fitment
dnp is sweet because its tubular so air flow is nice, but they can crack at the welds over time. (you can also get one from protege garage)
steedspeed is a cast manifold and will last forever and still flow smoother than stock

all are good options, all will net you more power.

Honestly, are you looking to absolutely max out your turbo? A manifold will give you some power, but if you run a methanol injection system and get a really good ECU tune, it would be good enough. Steedspeed manifolds are awesome, but I just want to make sure you realize, you won't make a ton more power with the 2871. There is a guy with stock manifold *and* catback exhaust making about 400 hp at the wheels with a gt3076. If he were to run ehtanol or methanol, he would make even more. Just depends on if you want to max out your turbo or not.

My last dyno run 347WHP at 18psi, no timming advance ajustment. AFR at 12:1 at WOT.
No water met in my futur project.

But I think the stock manifold don't have the best design to have the best exhaust flow to push the turbine.

You know other manifold brand ??

Steedsped look great but the price is great too

thats a huge power number for no timing advance on that turbo with only 18psi. In fact I don't believe it at all. Because that's exactly what I dyno'd with 2871 E40 and 22psi and timing added ...

Below the dyno sheet. First run and run five. For the run 3 and 4 I lean the mix up to 12.5:1 and return to 12:1.

Base MAP Cobb 1.08 stg2 with fuel tab correction by me. Working in Load target logic. Contol with EBC Greddy type S

What is that sharp turn in the graph at 3800 rpm?

So you are looking for maybe 375whp? A manifold might help with that, but you also need to push more boost. 18 is nothing.

The OBX has an IHI flange, not K04. It will not work unless you get the correct flange welded on.

The GT28 full boost at 3800rpm. I run now at 19.5-20PSI. Not more because I keep the MAP sensor stock and my boost limit is at 21.5psi and fuel cut at 22.5psi.

What I try to found is dyno sheet with DNP or steedspeed manifold to evaluate if this is a good move for the price.

ex.: stock turbo stock manifold VS stock turbo and aftermarket manifold

Full boost at 3800rpm? Something doesn't sound right. I usually hit 19lbs around 3100 rpm with a GT2871.

Maybe something can be improve to full boost earlier, but I'm dealing with the full boost after 3500rpm. I'm stock for piston, rod, connecting rod. At more high rpm I have less inertia and less chance to break something.

The boost is set 18psi last time but this is not the max for the turbo is only the psi I set for the run.

Thanks for all your answer and comments but if you know other manifold brand please post info

hmm 347WHP, not trying to insult your intellegience or anything but those are very high numbers for the mods you state, especially only being on an ots tune. quite possibly to get those high numbers wonder if maybe they did not use the proper correction factor for the wheels being off.

but anyway not hating haha just curious.

for manifolds id say a pg mani, care though since if you have a tmic one of the runners come dangerously close to the top boost tube.

The Cobb MAP is modified by myself except timming. I Have also CX racing FMIC with custom 2.25'' inlet piping and aftermarket air intake (CPe core I used with HKS filter), Cpe turbo inlet.

But the subject of the thread is to found the best manifold for the best price.

For PG I have some bad experiences with this vendor

all the manifolds do what they are designed to do. get a tubular and your set. dnp's and pg's have been known to crack with a bigger turbo. if you dont want to modify your stock turbo mount or weld jigs onto the flanges for piece of mind. personally ive never had any issues with my pg cracking and i have a BT. but its still early to tell, esp since i havent launched the car yet. steedspeeds are more expensive but you get what you pay for. and the manifold does not seem to have any issues integrity wise.

I can't send pm because I don't have 15 post

You had (2) steedspeed mani. I check maybe for the steedspeed can be bolt on the stock turbo because my GT2871 is bolt on the stock manifold using internal WG (ATP kit). Is it the one you have in sale. Please send me in PM info and price Thanks

I sold my DNP when going bt and went w/ a divided SS mani. FLow is great, but durabilty was a huge issue for me. $200 more not to worry about cracks, welding, etc... def worth it imo. I'm not familiar w/ the cheapo one, but SS manis are the only ones I know of that do not require bracing, etc etc gl.

Seems like you are running an iwg setup....if you were ewg I'd sell you my pg mani for super cheap. But the problem is its got a crack on the collector weld and its got a 38mm wastegate tube on it too. I was going to rebuild it for my build but have chosen not to and go with a used ss mani + vband dp I found fs.

The boost is set 18psi last time but this is not the max for the turbo is only the psi I set for the run.

Thanks for all your answer and comments but if you know other manifold brand please post info
I found this evening the log of the last run of this dyno day .

Full boost at 3380rpm (not 3800 sorry for the bad info) and average boost of 17.6psi

There isn't really a "best" one. Look up some videos and see which sounds the best to you.

Also, I have no interest in knowing where to find steedspeed, although it should be clear, since I asked links for SS (stainless steel) manifolds that were mentioned here. I know a bunch of manifolds for our car, but none of them are SS (stainless steel), which is why I asked.

I'm guessing that in his post, he meant he went from DNP to a SteedSpeed (SS).

^That is correct. DNP is SS, but it's not as sturdy as the SS mani, and therefor requires bracing. That alone is reason to go with a SS mani imho.
