GT3071r complete build

I'm in the process of a complete rebuild with a turbo upgrade and I just want to make sure I don't miss anything along the way or that you may have some further recommendations to what I've done so far.

This is what I have so far:

Stock bore with CP-E stage2 pistons
Manley H-beam rods
Balance Shaft Delete and Oil pan baffle
Cometic head gasket
Autotech Fuel pump internals upgrade
Cobb AccessPort v3
Garrett GT3071R turbo
TurboSmart bypass vavle
Fujita Cold air intake


My questions:

I kind of came across this turbo for dirt cheap and figured why not go big. I'm assuming I will be doing the whole exhaust from the downpipe back by adding the bigger turbo? Any other things I should know about with this turbo addition? I've read up on the lines and some fitment issues. Whats the difference with the internal wastegate and external? Is one better than the other?

Would you recommend the PCV plate and EGR delete kit?

Breaking in the new engine once it is all back together and ready to move any recommendations? What oil to use in it during this process and after?

Tuning the engine and Cobb. It seems I have seen freektune on a lot of the threads and am leaning in that direction. Any advice how I should have the engine tuned since this will be a complete new set up? Or is that a question I would ask them directly when I'm at that point?


Hopefully I can get this thing back together and on the streets soon! If you guys want to see any build pictures please let me know I'm just waiting on getting the long-block back so I can install everything else.

You'll want to swap out that Fujita with a bigger intake. Go with the something bigger like HTP or JBR

Yikes... you have got a LOT of reading to do. There are a lot of build threads in the big turbo sections already. I suggest you start there and see what problems / solutions people have run into already and all of your questions will be answered.

I would recommend doing:
- ebay downpipe ($140)
- a catback
- 3 port ebcs
- bosch 3 bar map sensor
- an upgraded intercooler. Front mount preferred

and definitly no fujita. HTP is the way to go

as for the wastegate, EWG is always preferred.

And read up on the stickies and people's builds. Definitely gives you an idea of what you are about to tackle.

Yea Def bigger intake ,3bar etc and lines such as oil return line and stuff. Stock k04 one won't fit lol I jumped into my bt build quick with just a turbo and some stuff and I got beat and realized I missed alot cause I didn't read lol
