Default (HELP PLEASE!) Bolt issues!

Alright guys, I'm going to start off with the story behind my car. I bought it (2007 ms3) back in February of 2015. Exactly a week later it started knocking. It hydro locked because of bad k04. So I had a "warranty" that I bought along with the purchase of the vehicle. So I took it to the shop that the used car dealer recommend. And then the guy from the warranty company decided that my problem was cause from a pre-existing problem. Therefore they weren't going to cover it. So I get my car back in a million pieces. (Literally)
So what's the logical thing to do here? BT BUILD! I'm currently in the middle of the build. (Haven't made a build thread yet...) I've ran into a problem though. The shop that worked on my car didn't label any bolts or separate them in any way whatsoever. So now I'm stuck with this

If anybody happens to have a link to what bolts go where, or anything relevant to that I would really appreciate it. I've searched the forum multiple times but can't seem to find anything. My main concerns are the oil pump, water pump, and timing bolts.

Again, any help is greatly appreciated!

Does not look that bad, identify what you can (e.g. those bolts with springs are for the 2nd cat/test pipe) and go from there. Post some pictures of the block/engine bay so we see what has been disassembled, thin long bolt could be for the throttle body but there is no way of knowing if the TB is out of not.

WTF kind of warranty did you buy? A worthless one is what. I'm sure you intended it to cover any pre-existing problems. Try to get your money back for that warranty.

As far as the bolts just take it one by one.

Those grey plastic nuts look like the ones that hold the "heat" shield to the firewall.
Green one AC line.
Bolt with threads on both ends is on the bottom of the timing cover. Most of the other small bolts are for that cover also.
The long big black ones (calm down) look like main or BSD bolts.

Lol yeah the warranty was through a third party company. I've tried to get my money back.

Currently the only pictures that I have.

I see the fly wheel bolts. They are next to the bottom of the long shiny black bolt in the middle of the photo on top of the pile...
In my garage i have the timing cover, oil pan, RMS, cam cap and the tensioner (timing+oil) bolts all on cardboard in the correct orientation if u need me to snap some pictures for you. I can do that on Sunday.

The best thing you can do for your self is line all the bolts up on a piece of card board. Next take a socket set and identify the size of each bolt head and write it above the bolt on the card board and take a picture.

As far as the shop goes who the fuck take's a car apart then says naa fuck this and gives you back piles of parts? Did u one night stand the shop owners daughter?

I wish I had a one night stand with his daughter.
But no, the reason they didn't finish the work is because they wanted to charge me the same price I could go big turbo and build it myself. I just thought they would've had the common sense to label the bolts or something similar.
If you could get some pics for me then that would be awesome. I'll try and take some more detailed pictures of the bolts and the hex sizes tonight after work

60 is the oil pump tensioner spring. I believe 64 is the bolt that the spring rests on. 57 may be balance shaft bolts. here is another pic I found.

Lengths of the bolts would be helpful.

However, at this point, it looks fairly clear that you're missing quite a few bolts. For example, 57 does look like it could be a bolt from the BS, and if it is, there should be 4 of them. I imagine you're short of a full set on just about all of these. It may be easier to start pulling part numbers and order new everything.

Also, not sure how you've got so many 7mm bolts. The only 7mm I can think of is the MAP sensor. You may need to check your measurements. I say that because #34 is the lowest center bolt on the timing cover, and it is definitely an 8mm, but you have it listed as 7mm.

I removed the duplicated bolts from the rest to avoid repeated answers. I'm making progress though! I greatly appreciate everyone's help!

tapatalkin'

Also WetzMs3, all of the bolts listed as 7mms are probably 8mm because I didn't have a socket handy any smaller than 9mm lol

Assuming 55 and 75 are the same length, they look like throttle body bolts. Also 8mm, not 7. There should be 4 of those.

I understand removing the duplicates, but knowing qty. may be helpful for some of these too. For example, if I saw (4) of 55 right next to each other, I'd immediately say TB bolts. Or, are there (2) of #28 ? Looks like it could be the stud/nut for the PMM. The stud goes into the timing cover, then PMM, then bolt.

#30 is some type of banjo bolt.

OEM MS6 engine part numbers
Imo this is the best post for building a motor. All of your bolts are referenced. It has been very useful to me. Use these part numbers for anything you need that you can't figure out.
