Installed the turbo this weekend. Much blood, and coolant, were offered to the gods.

Overall it went well, took my time and methodically checked things. Car fired up first shot... But then, Fail ensued.

The fucking coolant hose that you reuse blew on me... And that bitch is a total ass pain to fix once everything is installed.

To anyone doing this install, just do what people say and get yourself an 18" piece of new hose, and some small hose clamps. You will thank yourself later.

As mentioned the turbo is super silent But I can feel the potential it has. Time to tune

Big thanks to the following:

@eric@edgeautosport, jp@edgeautosport - for the parts, you guys rock.

@cld12pk2go, @JacksonMS30 - for the documentation, they helped more than you know.

A few things to note:

If you're reusing the stock recirc tube. Put it on the TIP before you install.

If using the COBB SRI, the stupid breather hose from the valve cover, is a hair too short. Attach it to the SRI, before mounting the SRI to anything.

If using the CP-e TMIC, you will have to cut ~1" off each end of the supplied boost tube.

JacksonMS30 - Attached is the page referencing the proper order to tighten manifold. Feel free to embed it into the main post.

Yeah, the part about the coolant line needs to be in about 128 font, bolded, and flashing. So easy to do with everything out, so insanely hard when everything is back together.

Glad my guide helped. :-)

Yes, 5/16" hose for turbo coolant and 3/32" hose should work for anything that needs a vacuum reference.

I used 6mm silicone hose. I suggest using just a slightly smaller diameter (4.5mm or something like that). Mine blew off at the drag strip and is now secured with a zip tie...

before we knew this i suffered the same fate. After Eric from edgeautosports and a couple of our other great nator nm guys installed the turbo ( lets not forget that atp sent me a turbo with the actuator backwards ) Dustin and i were tuning out in the boonies and i lost every drop of coolant on the highway fml. we limped it home turning the car on and off coasting as to not overheat the motor. needless to say the hose split down the middle.

Anybody have a link to where I can buy a turbo flange gasket and a downpipe gasket? And @eric@edgeautosport , you're saying we wont need to buy any studs for the ATP kit correct?

Also what kind of fasteners are best to use on the flexible part of the return line? The ones securing the OEM line?

You will need M6x1 studs at least 1.25" to 1.5" long and some flange nuts to fit the studs (you may have to make the studs using a stick of all thread). You only need to for where the return line bolts to the block.

Originally Posted by eric@edgeautosport View Post

I suggested replacing those stock bolts where the return line mates to the block because the ATP return line flange is thicker than stock and engages less less of the threads on the factory bolt. The studs are longer and, though they can be done without, can help save somebody from stripping out the threads in the block like I did.

edgeautosports.com: The Leading Edge Auto Sports Site on the Net or just call Eric. The oil return line comes complete in the kit from ATP with everything including the fasteners to bolt it to the turbo. You just either have to reuse the stock fasteners for the block side of the return line, or you buy/make studs to reduce the risk of striping your block and causing yourself a world of trouble.

I can't speak for everyone, but I have yet to experience any compressor surge on my setup.

Bump for those of you who recently purchased an ATP turbo and were worrying about the install.

Don't worry, its not as difficult as you think

Happy modding

I'm almost ready to roll, but I need one more silicone coupler and an AN fitting and line for for the stock coolant line. I'm not fucking with bending that stock pos again.

Bump for awesome write up. Saved my ass. Heads up though I almost had to pull the manifold after getting it back on to get the damned the coolant feed banjo bolt on. But then again I left the Dp attached and still hanging.
