(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Over the past two weeks, me and @DISIindahead have been installing our 3071's. About a month and a half ago, we decided to pull the trigger on two big turbo builds once our debt was paid off. I managed to get a new turbo from a local guy who's car got stolen the day it was delivered and we ordered one through Edge Autosport. After finally receiving the delivery, it was install time. Before I get started a few thank you's for the people with the most. @JP@edgeautosport.com & @eric@edgeautosport for dealing with my bitchiness about my order taking so long. You guys came through and I appreciate everything you did for us. @slikr for the late nights and humping to get these two cars done. @JasonMzdSpd3 for coming over and letting us use your monster needle nose and zip ties...you still didn't bring us food though ![]() @Captain KR for allowing us to call and get advice on the Grimmspeed and the coolant line. You sir, are a life saver. @rfinkle2 you are , kidding, you have been nothing but a great advisor on tuning and technical needs. I can't wait to see what you can do with these turbos since I enjoyed my K04 tune so much. Zoom Zoom!@StayBroke because you told me how to do my WG arm adjustment. I probably would have figured it out but I like the guidance. @ Everyone with a build thread. Your errors and accomplishments have made our two builds go by a lot smoother with very few mishaps. Thank you for being the guinea pigs of the ms3's & ms6's so I won't make the same mistake. @ All the guys in shout, including you @predapio, @Daddy Chinkus and @chimmike, you guys have learned to deal with me in shout almost everyday while managing to tease me to get back in the kitchen and make sammichs. Well, I actually got my hands dirty to go waist deep in these builds and I appreciate you all for building up my confidence and knowledge. and finally, Thank you MazdaSpeedForums as a whole for all the knowledge that can finally come together and be a one stop shop. Peace, Love and Mazda for life. Onto the build: My car was first so I guess you could say it was the red headed step child, literally. When the turbo was put on, I had 28,200 miles. I have had the car for about 4 months and was fully bolted for about 2 of them. Everything went smoothly. I was able to get my turbo ported in no time. I think that porting is becoming a normal occurrence, it was no big deal to us but a word of advice, remember that the smaller bolt that connects the hot side goes under the banjo bolt that is to the oil feed line on top of the turbo. we had to take the manifold off again to realize the mistake. Using the dremel worked well on both turbos, you just need the right stone and patience. Once I finished porting the turbo, we decided to do the PTP Safe Seals and Stud Kit. Dirty We attempted to clean with not much luck. We'll be seafoaming on the next oil change. Once we got the intake manifold off, we can obviously see the importance of an oil catch can. After we did the seals and got the manifold put back on, it was onto the turbo part. Tip: do this to keep track off all of your bolts Here is a picture of everything out. We didn't run into any problems on mine, however, the pu was a different story. (stupid pu) During dis-assembly, Mike also took a coolant bath. Remember to clamp the line or at least put a pan underneath the car to catch it all. DERP. The classic picture of old versus new. Did someone say twin turbo MS3? So we dropped the turbo in the bay first and then bolted on the DNP mani, thanks @drummermike58 and @Jonny Quest for the wrap. By this time, we were all like this... We ran into an issue with the oil feed and banjo bolt (typical from what I have read but @slikr had a great idea and it worked. You will need someone to hold up the turbo and be steady with it while the other holds the bottom washed with a piece of tape and screws the banjo bolt in. See below. Once the banjo bolt is screwed on, you can lightly yank the tape and it'll come right off without leaving anything. It worked after dropping it at least once. Once everything was bolted on, here is the finished product. I hoped for no leaks and definitely got lucky. First start up was a little rough. We purged the fuel line and Jason primed the turbo. AFR's started at about 9.7 on first time but then evened out after about 10 minutes. Then it was time to drive. Here is my ricer moment, driving around with my hood off for the first time. Still clear of leaks. We buttoned everything up and finished up about 9 pm on Sunday night. On to the next build. The pu was a bitch, as always. There isn't a lot of pictures because he started when I was at work but this is what we do have. We originally blew the turbo seal at about 12,000 miles and replaced with a re manufactured K04 that has been awesome. Putting the BT on, we had 32,092 miles. I really thought the uninstall would go as smooth as mine did. This is what not to do: His valve cover seal was leaking so we replaced that and while it was off, we also painted it. Here is the turbo bolted up to the manifold. We got done with his car last night and his is running smooth as well. No leaks and all levels were good. I wish we would have taken more pictures but I think we all just wanted to get done. Another problem we had was we had to additionally grind the top of the shorter bolt on the hot side of the turbo so the oil feed line would fit. After we did that, everything went together smoothly. With two builds under our belt, I hope that we're able to do another one in the near future, cough @slikr. But after these two grueling weekends, I feel like this and am hopefully done for a while.

| Not Ranked : 0 score We used barbecue grille paint lol basically high temp spray paint. @slikr did 3 light coats and 3 regular coats. When you do it be sure to follow the bolt pattern on torque specs for the valve cover when you do it as well. Get them snug first before torquing them down. Be sure to also clean the valve cover really good before painting. Sent from my Etch a Sketch

| Not Ranked : 0 score I just finished my gtx3071r build over the weekend. Install went smooth as well. Did you get both cars tuned and what kind of dyno numbers you hit between the two? Would love to see a comparison.
