I think my turbo is smoking...?

So I'm fully bolted, but on the stock Ko4 and every once on a while I'll get white smoke out the exhaust in 1st or neutral idle. Mechanics have said change the oil or check to make sure there's no oil in my intake hoses, but I just read on a thread that if I don't have a meth injector my turbo could be running hot... help? I just had the oil changed (my first since buying the car, switched to full synthetic) and I'll see of that resolves the issue...

A lot of guys on here run T6 Rotella 5w40 oil, myself included. It helps with the turbo smoking issue. If its the turbo I don't think it normally has anything to do with the tempters of the turbo just the seals, oil blows by. Just search for smoking turbo and you'll find better answers and solutions.

Your K04's turbo seals are starting to go bad. Save up for an upgrade, or locate a known good, low-mile replacement. Alternatively you can buy reman K04's from Edge, RPM, etc.

A little searching would have easily given you your answers. But since you have other people do hard things like an oil change for you, I can see why you wouldn't want to have to do the hard work of searching for the answer yourself either.

Save for an upgrade.. I'm having the same issue right now. I used my access port to bump up my idle and that worked for now. You might want to try that out

Hey friend. Just thought I'd say hi. You're a wonderful person I'm sure, but you kind of sound like a huge prick right now. Let me give a frame of reference here: 1) I don't know why you put fully bolted in quotations, I know what that means and I meant what I said. 2) I have been doing research and multiple mechanics have told me different reasons for the smoke. 3) "the hard things" like an oil change require jacking the car up, and I don't own jacks, so there's your explaination on that topic. Furthermore, I recently installed coilovers solo so your horse might be a little too high. 4) In my research that you claim I decided to forgo, I saw a few different threads hinting that the colder intake achieved with a meth injector could help stop the smoking. Have a wonderful day, and try not to come across as such a conceited jackoff next time 😘

Like everyone else said. Throw in some Rotella T6 until you can upgrade or get a replacement K04. You'll be much happier getting rid of that paperweight and getting something slightly larger.

1. List all your mods, lets see if it's "fully" bolted. Or do you need someone to tell you what mods you have?
2. Cool
3. You have a jack that came with the car, no excuse. And if you are talking about jack stands (not jacks), they are about $30 at anywhere. If you can't afford them, you can't afford to mod a car.
4. You installed coils, but can't do an oil change?

I hate to break up the What the fuck? thread, but doesn't white smoke mean moisture? Is that a sign of the K04 seal failing? I thought they blew blue or gray smoke with oil.

Other things besides the higher weight oil, rpm increase to 900 rpm (or 1k since I like round numbers), the B-bolt thingy, and the don't care and drive it like you stole it philosophy.

I forgot to add my wise ass comment of don't let your K04 smoke, that will kill it :-)

Can't do coil overs without lifting the chassis, for sure. A floor jack and stands are inexpensive. Looking forward to the mod list, too.

OP: do your homework in the threads here. Rotella T6 and a bump up to +200 in idle rpm are good ways to address your issues.

FWIW, we are tough on newbies who expect to be spoon fed on things that are the subject of repeated threads and special "stickies" intended to collect commonly recurring issues.

Awesome ride quality, he's now able to hit every bump in the road, feel them, and the bottom of the car getting scraped up each time. All while his rear wheels sit at an angle where only 70% of the tire is making contact with the road. And a 100% decrease in ride quality all around.

Still wondering how he was able to install them without a jack, and by himself apparently. Quite amazing for a guy who can't do his own oil change.

I'm almost 100% sure he bought it "fully bolted".

And I'm very curious to know about him, because asking for money from random people on the internet to help fix a "fully bolted" car that he just bought, is on a whole different level of pathetic. I'm assuming he's under 21, someone helped buy him the car.
