What turbo is it? Journal or BB? Inline filters are very common. It should come apart to either clean or replace the filter element.

I say keep it (really going to question cleaning oil going to your turbo?) and clean/replace the filter.

Thats what I was thinking if i have the filter it's just anothe way to make sure the oil stays squeaky clean and I'll just make sure I clean it... But idk... Keep the opinions coming!

Why are you even considering removing it? There is no good reason to do so.

Our oil pressure is super low at idle, i think that filter would only restrict it more. Not necessary imho. But then again i fail alot so what do i know

i think its a terrible idea your putting your turbo at risk of being oil starved IMO if it gets clogged and you get lazy it may starve

it looks way too small to be practical pre turbo, i dont know how much oil flows to turbo but i believe that device looks restrictive

I'd remove it as well.

Proper oil change intervals with a good filter and you shouldn't have any issues. I'd not risk oil starvation and I've never seen a turbo go, either journal or BB due to dirty oil. Seen plenty, OEM and not, go due to oil starvation.

your con rods will blow before the thrust and radial bearings on the k04. Those things are rock solid. On a ball bearing terboh on the other hand its not a bad idea to have a finer micron filter in there such as a 34 micron mesh. BB turbos need much less oil than radial bearing turbos and there is plenty of flow from the stock line. The risk that you will plug the filter and starve the turbo of oil is minimal. BBs are also more susceptible to contaminants in the oil as the races and ballls are in constant contact as opposed to the surfaces on RBs as the oil layer prevents contact except on start up. Wouldn't do it on a RD terboh on BB is not a bad idea.

In before graown from Nitroeng boy.

Most of those small inline type filters are designed for valve cover oilers and they have a high micron screen that is designed for engines that are completely rebuilt after every race. Those types of filters are worthless when used in a oil system that uses a street type oil filter because that type of oil filter will filter particles that are orders of magnitude smaller than that race screen.

If it does have a small micron filter it is probably supposed to be used as a fuel filter because its overall size is too small for use with oil.

Ide say dump it, its either completely worthless combined with increased complexity, or fail waiting to happen.
