(Thread Starter) |   Not Ranked : 0 score  Jracers build starts now ! Starting my build today. Started taking apart my spare motor . Got to get it torn down and then get the block checked to see what pistons I need to order. ( stock bore or .020 over ) . Going with wiseco pistons K1 or Eagle rods. Arp head studs . New gaskets, timing chain and tentioner. New VVT and oil pump . BSD delete and baffle , CPE injector seals.. Also doing the clutch while it's out. I'll post pics later when I get home.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Well my car has 85k miles on it , so I figure build it now not when it breaks. Who knows with these engines .. Some last 100k some 40k then boom. .. I am fully bolted so the only thing I need is a turbo after it's built . I may just have to rock the k04 for a few more months .. If my car had less miles I would do like everyone els , BT first .

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score upadate ********** Well the story behind this engine is it came out of a mazda for warranty .. it had timing chain issues... the engine has been sitting in my garage for 8-9 months.. anyways.. when i would turn it over bye hand at TDC it had resistance...so i knew something wasnt right !! so i got it all torn apart yesterday.. found all the exhaust valves stuck open !! they are all bent i think thats why they are staying open.. you can see little marks on the valves where they touched the pistons.. i guess the engine was out of time or something... the #4 cylinder looks like it ingested something at one time.. you can see it in the pic of he valves i posted.. see all the dents ?? hope it can be fixed..ill have to take it to a cylinder head shop and see.. the bores look ok, i can see wear marks but i cant feel them. maybe they will hone out or maybe i will have to get it bored. looks like this build just cost a lot more than i thought it was going to be.... i am bummed............

| Not Ranked : 0 score VVT broke.. Make sure you have the head and block dipped/cleaned very well, you may have some metal from the vvt acutator in the oil passages...

| Not Ranked : 0 score There's a guy with an SVT Focus with very similar head damage. It can be welded up and shaved. The cylinder walls will need a very nice hone at the very least. Boring out .020" isn't the worst idea...hell, you'd gain a little displacement  (prolly 2.35L, maybe more).Sorry to hear the probs, but that damage isn't all that catastrophic.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score well ordered my CPE safeseals today !!.. i am taking the head to the cylinder head shop in the morning for them to look at it to determine if i should fix it or not.. i posted a want add in the for sale section looking for a head.. so if you know of anyone send them my way ! there is one on ebay but its waaay to much $500+ bucks..

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score well a little update.. got my head fixed ! all new ex. valves and two intake valves. head cleaned everything checked , valve job.. ect.. picking it up tomorrow morning.. so ill post pictures. cost me $350 plus tax it came to $375. clearwater cylinder head did the work... ill get the part numbers and all the good stuff Cylinder Heads of Clearwater

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score stock head.. no port job. the exhaust valves are aftermarket.. dont know the brand. i think i am going eagle/wiseco combo..not looking for huge HP . 350-385 -400 max hp.. would be nice.. Like all builds they dont ever go as planned ! didnt know my head was all fucked up then i messed up two tires running over something in the road so i went ahead and got 4 new tires. So the motor build fund got dipped into. so time to save some more money............ but i did get a few other parts like the SURE intake manifold gasket, CPE safe seals,Street unit EGR block off plate, a extra intake manifold to lightly port and remove the VTCS.. and a Matt damond new check valve for my OCC.
