Looks good man, I have never plug my stuff into virtual dyno if I can find some time this weekend I will try and do that.

You're running more boost then me im sitting at 20.5 right now but I am running 2gals of e and I would assume more timing then you ( unless your getting better fuel ) I would say you are making more power then me for now

So I might be the most powerful speed in Michigan right now?! Sweet.

Yeah timing is pretty conservative, but is a safe tune.

I will take it for the few fleeting moments I can. I should change my signature too

I can look when I get home. I'm on my phone now. @atvfreek; can chime in if he wants too.

Tires aren't to bad, I've only smoked them trying to do a third gear log. (That's not happening anymore Haha)

You'll have it awhile. @IamJamen; is running the same turbo as you (I think) and since he is AWD, he'll lose more in power train. It'll be another month prior to everything being finished for me (my engine is still at the machinist). Plus I have the tuning process to go through. It's likely that @LynzeC; will go BT and pass us all.

It's only 10* at redline. And 11.5 afr. His turbo wants to spike right now, which is causing the afr to go a little crazy in some logs on the initial spike, but other than that the pump gas will be about finished up. He is at a solid dd power number, then we can spice it up a little with e85

It's true, this is my goal. And if I can't pass you, I'll at least be able to keep up with you.

Not much left to do after June 2nd.

Isn't the gtx the same at the gt but with a billet compressor wheel?

Assuming the same tune, wouldnt they make the same power, but the GTX would get boost faster?

Intresting. Any idea where the power comes from? I assume both use the same housings, so I dont think you can get more flow anywhere? Can you get power from a lighter compressor wheel?

The gtx uses an 11blade billet wheel, where as the gt uses IIRC 6. In my experience with both, the gt spools a little faster than the gtx, and at boost up to about 22psi they are almost identical for power. Once you start going higher than that the gtx seems to outflow it and ultimately make more power

There you go. Thanks @atvfreak; I wasn't sure where I read it as I've been looking at many pages in MSF as build research.

Not overly aggressive and block will last forever like that. We still have room to grow too, so it's a great spot to be in.

So my buddy got the data from the dyno operators at the show and plotted the 3 of us that went.

His is the GTI. Looked it up and he is stage 1. Im not 100% how their stuff works, but Im pretty sure all he has is a tune and an intake as far as power mods go. There might be more that I am forgetting though.

The blue line is a stock G37 coupe. Thing did really well, I was pretty impressed with the power it put down.

And Im the Red line.

All three pulls were done one after the other in pretty quick succession. This was a charity event, so the goal was to get as many people 3 pulls as possible, not to tune for stuff. I actually ended up winning the “import” division, which I think consisted of the three of us that came together and a S2000 that ran later in the day.

Just figured I would throw this up to look at.

So I just had my first track day and it was a blast. The car has tons of power (way more than I know what to do with on the track) and the wide sticky tires were awesome. The weak point of my set up was clearly the brakes.

I had a set of Hawk HPS I was going to put on the night before, but I was told to forgo that and keep my OEM ones on instead. Well after 75K and one track day now, the OEM pads and rotors are done. Ive done a bit of research today, but am having a tough time deciding, do I sell the new HPS pads I have and get something that is better for a track day/daily driver or do I just say screw it and go full race car with a set of track pads and just run the HPS as my new street pad?

I don’t know how many track days I will do to even know whether or not this is worth it or not. I know I plan to run in August at the Midwest meet, and hopefully again before then at a test and tune night, all with maybe a few autocrosses thrown in. Just wondering what peoples thoughts are and how they would proceed.

Hawk HPS for the street then buy some Porterfield race pads for track.

Which pad specifically are you talking about? I went on their website and it looks like they do Hawk pads

Porterfield R-4.

Just buy a set for the front to switch out for track days and run whatever you want in the back since the rear brakes never really do much work anyways. At least that's how it is on the MS6.

Yes, the pads are expensive but they are worth it.

Ok so after assuming my pads and rotors were shot, I took the wheels off to swap back to my daily set up and decided to bust out the micrometer and see what the damage was. I was all set to buy new stuff. Settled on Centric Rotors, EBC yellow pads and some new stainless lines. I already have some new Motul 600 waiting in the garage. To my surprise things weren’t worn anywhere near what I would have guessed.

I only measured the thickness of one of the rear rotors and then both the pads and rotors up front. This is what I got:
Left Rear Rotor: 0.4223”
Left Front Rotor: 0.9314”
Right Front Rotor: 0.9319”
Both sets of front pads were about Ľ” on the outside and 3/16” inside. Didn’t measure the rears, but they were at least Ľ” or more.

So now Im not sure I need to order anything. I might as well let these things run themselves out. They are great pads and I like the way they grip, I assume the fade I was feeling at the track was more due to old fluid more than anything.

What are other people getting out of the stock pads/ rotors on the car?

Havent updated this thread in a long time. Figured I would after this weekend.

Ive been having all sorts of boost spiking issues and freek and I could not get them tuned out (yay GT3071 problems). I decided to just go EWG and regain some real control. I picked up an used DNP 44mm EWG mani, and a TIAL MV-R wastegate.

Spent the better part of 12 hours putting it all on. (the DNP mani did not want to fit). Pulled the turbo, made my own little stainless steel IWG holder-closer ala DJ (see picture). Got the turbo back in, and then wrestled the mani in.

It feels like the mani places the turbo slightly forward as the DP wasn’t quite an easy fit as it was before. It wasn’t too bad, but I had to loosen the bolts between the DP and the catback to get it attached, then tightened them back up. Somewhere along the lines there I lost a DP stud and nut. No idea where it went, but I have a heck of an exhaust leak now and sound like an old farm truck. I will just throw a bolt in there for now until I get the correct stud and nut in.

After it was all in I did the plumbing. I didn’t have enough hose to keep my EBCS where I had it so I moved it to the lifting point. I don’t think I will keep it there as Im afraid it will get to hot. What do you all think? Plus, Im not 100% sure I have plumbed it correctly. I followed the design as Cobb has it on their site for a 3-port EWG set up, but it was very different than how I had it set up for IWG. I will have to do some looking again on what is correct vs what I have.

Sorry for the shitty cell phone pics. It’s the only camera I have as of right now.
