Default Update!!!

so i got a mediocre amount done to the car this weekend.... My ambitions were to clean my intake valves and install my Perrin EBCS...

Got all of it done except for cylinder 3's intake valves (i believe thts the right cylinder or cylinder 4....second cylinder from the right if looking at the front of the car correct?)

here's some pics of what i got done ... PRE intake valve cleaning and post intake valve cleaning( this also took about 1 full can of b12 chemtool to clean each cylinders set of intake valves if anyone wanted to know)

P.S. i also changed my oil in e34 bmw 520i also replaced all vacuum lines and bought some new tools and a whole new tool box... pics included!!!

Yup, it's Cyl 3. Cyl 1 is the farthest left when looking at front of car, and they just count to the right in order.

Great improvement on the valves man. Good job.

I've heard of people doing hpfp internals with an impact gun and no vice. Probably do able. Check with @burn813, and maybe he could offer a few tips.

On the studs, i just bought some at the local ACE hardware store.

I bought my studs at sears. They had only two 50mm so I got 2 of those, two 46mm and four like 40mm I think. 50mm would not work as they were not threaded far enough down. 46mm worked but they only had two so I used those and two of the shorter ones that just worked. wores comes to wors you could cut an M8x1.25 bolt, clean up the threads and use it as a stud...for that matter you could also use bolts. I would say 40mm bolts would be pefect.

Looks like they already got places for the studs/nuts covered. Only other place I've heard of is PTP. I got mine from fastenal.

Ya, but I wouldn't even do that. I would just get good bolt with flange head M8x1.25x ~36-40mm length and you should be fine. Make sure the bolt does not bottom out too early before installing so that it can go a few mm below corwsfeet. I know a 35mm would work so I think 40mm would be perfect but be sure to check first. That should be easier to find. Studs really are not needed, the main point is that the TORX bolts that are in there ,may not allow you do torque them down as much as you might want. The OEM seals have a rubber like coating on them so the seal is more of a mush than a crush so only so much torque is needed. The coating could shear off and that is what can cause the OEM seals to fail (I think IMO, but what do I know). I was worried that some of this coating was left in my injector holes and would not allow the toyata seals I used to problerly seal…but im sure it is ok. The Toyota and CPE seals are crush and require more torque on the bolts to properly seal. Applying that much torque to a torx is possible and the OEM bolts could possibly be reused with no problem. Its just not worth it in case they did strip or something. If I had trouble finding M8 bolts them I would just reuse the OEMs and be very carefull...

Default update!!!

Alright so i got a shitload done today. I also decided to wait to do my venturi setup on my OCC till i get back to the states (about a month till i go back) since i have a welder and the tools there, i can do it myself.

So got the PG reworked turbo fully installed, my wrapped stock exh. mani fully installed and my M2 DP fully installed.

Tomorrow i will try to tackle the Perrin EBCS and my FMIC... Also mayb do the EGR delete and the TB coolant bypass...

Here's some pics of the progress

alright guys here's and update... i dunno if you saw, but i made a thread of a possible Zoom Zoom Boom.... Well its almost certain now tht i have bent a rod. Without having the time or stuff to do it here i will be waiting on my cars return to California (where im moving back to next week). I will be enlisting the help of my grandfather hopefully to help me pull the motor. He also has some hookups on some machine shop work tht i will be using to look over my block and my head and fix ne problems they seem fit and prob assemble my short block... From there i will obviously be going forged since its a waste of time to tear motor out otherwise and might as well go for the whole kit and kaboodle with a big turbo.

Alright here's what i have in mind or what is up for debate:
GT3582 T3 divided .86 A/R with Anti surge housing (still want a quicker spool)
Steedspeed t3 divided manifold with 44mm EXT WGA
DJ's custom top mount kit for the DP and intake/oil and coolant lines
Maybe run my same intercooler, thts up for debate as well
K1 rods and Wiseco pistons, Definitely up for debate just wat ive seen used most with success, plus the price explains itself

Everything else except for odds and ends i think i have already... will be selling all my KO4 stuff. i think im going to try to shoot for 500AWHP if i can, does tht sound unreasonable on this setup? Will most likely try running meth injection or e85 either one. Give me your suggestions on the setup, car will be weekend car still with some track time. (mostly road course and drags)

Props for not giving up man. DJ hit 500 with a s300 so you should be able to hit 500 with the 35r. May wanna look into the DSS axle if youre takin it to the strip and dont plan on creeping off the line.

thnx man really appreciate it... Ya I actually rethought my setup and it will be a Borg warner s300 (cheaper and same power band) I'll be running a lil smaller setup than djs but not much... pretty much much same setup but with a steedspeed top mount twinscroll mani. recently got out odd the military to so I'm FREE!!!

Haha good shit man. What branch were you in? I just hit 6 years in the Navy this month. I think the borg warner turbos are really under utilized by this platform...even though they may take a little more effort to make work than the GT series turbos. This winter im swappin to a top mount S259 with a twin scroll manni as well. DJ's car is a monster though... Have you looked into cams at all to try and extend the powerband on the back end a little bit?

Ya I'm going s300 I think the 66-75... no no cams yet I don't want to do any head work yet... I don't think it takes too much extra work to use a Borgwarner... I was I'm the air force for 4yrs...

so I know ive been procrastinating... I know I know its stupid and sux. Now tht I have a legit ass job with G&E... so my build plans have changed slightly and am open for suggestion since I am no expert in this field but am a good tech.

have been looking at the borg warner EFR series turbos.. more specifically the 7163 t4 twinscroll .94 A/R.... im goal is to make 500awhp/500awftlbs.... I want this to be a quick spooling vehicle though is the kick since it will be mostly used for canyon and mountain type/ open mountain roads. any suggestions on turbos. I am looking to have all the parts by January time from because tht is when I come home from Saudi.

money is not a super factor anymore with this new job. still looking for a machine shop in northern California that can do me good. any suggestions? obviously all supporting mods will be done I.E jmf mani with 1000cc injectors, full mounts etc etc

so lets see your suggestions

I have changed my build plans again. I will be running the kozmic kit with a precision 5858 to save some money... will be changing jobs to Abu Dhabi and I only get to come back to states once a year for 30days as of right now. it fuckin sucks couldn't get much done on car this last trip home. I have my own garage now as well so I don't have to be doin this in someone elses anymore. its been a long time comin, but im not givin it up.

ok the BIG UPDATE... you guys have seen me floating around still.. well my car hasnt been running for quite some time, becuz i tried to open a business in texas when i first got out of the military and it failed becuz my fuckin meth head partner (didnt know he was into hard shit when we started)....

Also ran into problems getting a spare block and head but finally got them all sorted out.. First block i got was shipped not so well and it got damaged in the shipping process, so i had to find another full short block to build tht was good and would get messed up in shipping again.. P.S paypals buyer protection blows wieners, they make u pay to ship w.e u got tht was fucked up back so essentially u lose out on money becuz of the original sellers shipping habits.

anyways, now tht i have a steady job, money saved up and a way better income i am finally doing the build.

List of new parts:

Built block by Jordan Keefover

.020 wiseco pistons
H-beam rods
Clevite bearings
freshly rebuilt head with pinned cams, VVT, and sprockets
Crower 65lb valve springs
pinned sprockets and crank
N2MB wot box
custom intake fuel pump with dual deutschwerks pumps and a return style system
Fuel lab FPR
Kozmic 6th port kit with upgraded bosch 2200cc injectors
AFI stock position exh. mani t3 flanged
Relentless customs, custom 3.5" intake (will be shipped this weekend)
stock ported intake mani with vcts delete (still needs to be sent out)
Schrothe 4 pointe rallye harnesses
Ortiz customs, first custom dual steering column gauge pod (will be shipped this week)
SP63 PNP map harness
Redline goods custom ebrake boot, shift boot and steering wheel cover
AEM wideband/UEGO failsafe gauge and single gauge pod
Grimmspeed or SP63 ECBS (forgot which one i bought lol)
Front bumper blue Quick latches
Tial 44mm exh. waste gate with dump tube
JBR vented occ along with my already installed saikou michi OCC
WRX STI front lip

Still need to purchase:
PTE 5858 t3 .82 A/R
Enkei 17x9 PF01SS +43
Hankook RS-3's 245/40/17
5mm spacers
Bilstein b6 sport struts
H&R springs (will be temporary till i can get corner balanced and send struts off for revalving)
Corksport BBK (suggestions here, not many options)
Send in Intake mani for porting and powdercoat
Fluids
3" intake piping for front brake ducts
2" intake piping for rear brake ducts
AUX fan controller (this needed?)
Oil temp gauge (suggestions?)
Boost gauge (suggestions?)
Battery relocation (suggestions?)
Optima yellow top battery (suggestions?)
Hubcentric 67.1 rings
Muteki SR48 blue lug nuts

Now wat i need to remove from the car/extras i wanna do:

Custom front crash bar or crash bar delete
Delete rear crash bar
Power steering delete
Have car corner weighted/balanced
Interior dash lights all changed to Blue/white LED's
Duct the FMIC and radiator in like @Code Monkey;

Car will be tuned by Purple drank tuning!!!

Also will be getting a shitload of new tools so i might post some pics up of those...

I have attached pics of all the shit i have... motor will not be shipped to me until right before i come home so it doesnt sit around with no oil in it for a long period. This will all be gettin accomplished in beginning of february 16'...

Shout out to all the dudes helpin me out with parts and all @LumberJack; @keefover; @purpledranktuning; @Rambo; (dont remember his MSF name either) for the custom intake, @SwizzleSpd; @Z32_MS3; @mxlplx71;

Default new stuff!!

so i finally pulled the trigger on turbo choice!!

I got a Comp turbo CT4x 53-56. It is a lil smaller than i wanted to go, but i will spool faster by a few hundred RPMs comapared to a PTE 5858... Should still make the power i want which is nice as well.

Turbo is factory fresh rebuild with 0 miles on it got it for a great price as well

Man, you went full out right there. Watching your build, looks incredible. Plus for being generous with the photos. Good luck also, when you get back hope you have the time to dig in hard. I did the Iraq thing the last year and a half (post-military) myself, so I know what its like trying to be in two places at once.

Also, I'm a bit of a tool whore, great choice on the CDI torque wrenches. Best bang for the buck that is still top-tier for accuracy. They are an arm of Snap-on tools, now, and partner with precision instruments on their split-beam wrenches. You can see the similarities.
