Stock cams. I believe there's some porting of the head, and it uses Direct Injection + Port injection in the JMF manifold.

That car was just driven several hundred miles across the country. What makes very far from a mazdaspeed enigine? All I see are forged internals and an intake mani.

It is a stock block with a bunch of upgraded internals and peripherals. That is, it's a stock block with a built bottom end (connecting rods, pistons, and pinned cams/keyed crank to prevent slippage). It also has a ported and polished head, a larger-than-stock throttle body, and a JMF intake manifold designed to accommodate additional fueling.

It IS an MZR DISI motor, but with a bunch of internal upgrades as well as a supplemental port-injected fueling system.

I'm not sure what you're getting at, but this is, in fact, a Mazdaspeed engine.

Furthermore, the car was just driven from Iowa to Arizona (1400 miles or so), without any trouble at all.

His motor is completely stock. End of story. And yes, he is using TBI injectors as additional fuel instead of meth.

You use extra fueling too, so I don't see where your argument is here.

1. I guess I would call it a dual-injected motor. It has BOTH direct injection AND port injection.

2. The head is Ported and Polished, but it's otherwise the stock head.

3. The pinned cams/keyed crank are stock items, but reinforced to prevent slippage/losing time.

4. The rods/pistons are what you could call, "drop-in" items. They're not stock, but they don't change the block itself.

5. I never said the car was "stock," just that certain components were.

Besides the extra fuel coming through the intake manifold there is nothing exotic about this build.

You guys still use meth to keep up with fueling needs, he uses extra injectors in the intake manifold to accomplish the same thing.

The engine has stock sleeves which makes it more of a stock mazdaspeed engine than yours.

A lot has changed since Pat ran 10s on this side of the pond. You guys just haven't been following and need to catch up.

Which injectors are supplying "primary" fueling? If he were to stock out the car to sell it, which injectors remain on the car?

The port injection is to put it simply, adding the extra fueling needed to make the power. How is that different from people who tap meth into their setups to supply additional fueling?

So does that mean if someone is running meth you do not consider them direct injection either?

Also he did not say the motor was stock. Your question was, is it still a Mazdaspeed motor. He rebutted with his examples and points indicating to you it was still entirely the MZR DISI that came in the Mazdaspeed.

This car can reduce direct injection at all, cause has second fuel system. real system. it's very interesting and much more complicated! but it is a real way to use only one system at the end , and not direct injection)

Mmmm c16.....116 octane. Or for us, cheap race fuel e85 106 octane. But for us direct injection guys we mix it with 91.

the car uses the DI for 65% of its fueling and PI for the remaining 35% of its fueling. Its impossible to make more then 400whp without bigger direct injectors so the only way to add more fuel is to add injectors.

he was using an E85 blend so the actual octane was prob around 97 RON

he is on stock cams, ported head just like pat... you have more of an extensive build then he does... because if i read correctly don't you have dry sleeves? he is on a pump/e85 mix... but before he even got there in the tuning process the port injection wasnt even turned on then after tuning it was turned on, then better fuel was added... all coming from the same fuel tank

the same lines and everything. its like you guys using WMI. Water/Meth Injection is a port injection type of fuel! but you only have 1 extra injector... dustin then created the 5th/6th port, and now we have created a port injection that has 4 extra...

mark i believe you only have the 5th/6th and are seeing amazing numbers... but eventually there is a restriction and you must add even more, because there is no aftermarket injectors for our platform!

all in all i cant wait until dave runs...

i would also like to know how the sleeves affect anything... its one of 2 things i am not doing to my build

i have dry sleeves durton, this constraction of fuel system is very interesting, but i haven't tried c16 fuel yet. It seems to me that 500whp is real on my config, but it's a limit.

but next step i thought must be no direct inj and new head for 8000+rpm.

I know you have done a lot for this thread and helped many others... Like the diesel trans (I can't wait to try it out) but talk to Pablo and try his port injection kit! The heads seem to become a restriction at 650+ maybe 700+... And the direct injection is still used along with port injection... 8 injectors are better then 4 or 5!

the stock head will become a restriction much lower then that, most likely closer to 550whp
