BACK FROM THE DEAD!!!!!!111111!

Got back from deployment about 2 weeks ago and sent my computer and accessport to Cobb to get fixed. Just got them back this afternoon and i reinstalled the computer and married my new AP to the car. loaded my last map and went for a spin with the wife. also did a quick pull at 30 psi because i never got to do one before i bricked the ecu.

honestly im proud of the results. all the tuning thus far has been done by me only and ive learned alot along the way. i would like to eventually squeeze out the few more to get to 500 since that was my goal when i started this build. i also know i need to get my lazy ass on a dyno and confirm the numbers but at least i know im close. i need to smooth out the afr's around where the extra injectors cut in first though.

Another log i took last weekend. Nothing changed on the map from the last log. This time i made sure i revved it out all the way to the limiter. Picked up a few more on the top end.

You need to clean up those AFR's man.

A few pulls at that AFR when the torque curve goes high will put an end to things real fast.

OK guys, got a problem. This car is straight pumping oil into my catch can. So much that over a 3 hour drive, it pumped enough out to have a dry dipstick and my oil pressure started fluxing between 15 and 30 psi right as i was pulling up to the hotel. I just drove to advance and put 2 qts in it and now the oil is back on the stick and motor seems to be running fine.

Could a stuck PCV valve cause this issue? Like if it was stuck open would the crank case pressure just force oil out of the motor?

How much drained from the catch can? You are indeed losing oil, but need to know where.
And I also put a hex on you for leaving.

i got half a quart out earlier. So probably about a full can. Thing is i dont know if its coming out of the valve cover or the PCV.

I'm assuming you're running both the crankcase and valve cover to the same can? If so run the can with just the crankcase and put a breather filter on the valve cover and see if the oil still appears. If it does remove the PCV and see if it rattles. If it doesn't you probably have a stuck one and it'll need to be replaced.

Problem is im in Virginia not Maryland. Guess im just gonna monitor my oil until i can drive back this weekend.

Eric i think the rest got pushed out the breather. Hence the Exxon Valdez sized oil slick on the bottom of my car haha

Update on this, it's been a week and I still haven't lost any oil since monday. I've been checking it every evening after school and it's still where it's been. I'm thinking that from siting so long the valve got stuck and after a couple heat cycles it freed back up.

Well valve is still stuck. Talked to Pablo and we figured its best to change the pcv valve. Now i havent done this before so im unsure of what i need. Mainly whether or not i need this particular o-ring.

Probably need both of them. PCV (13890) and the Oring (13203). Would stink to have to pay shipping on a 3 dollar part!

I broke the PCV on the CX-7 back in the day. Remove intake manifold, and it is right there. Get the valve, and a new clip to hold it in place. You will break it removing it.

Yea i know where its at and all juts didnt know what i would need. And eric are you talking about the clip that holds the valve into that box that bolts to the motor?

Yup, there is a round piece of shit plastic cockring that you have to remove to get the valve out of the box. Get a new one.

I ordered the valve and o-ring but can't find the cock ring anywhere. Have to get it from mazda I'm assuming?

Oh sweet sweet victory! Got the PCV valve changed and didn't break the retaining ring! So screw you Eric! Haha. All in all it took about 2 hours with a dinner break in the middle. Tomorrow I'll put it back together. Now time for engine porn.

Not really. The PCV didn't change anything and at the advice of Pablo, I swapped out the check valve that came with the JBR catch can setup for the one Matt Damond sells with his. Other than that the car gets driven about once a week if it's lucky. Work traffic is hell in the afternoon and it takes about an hour and a half to go all of 15 miles. Needless to say the clutch doesn't really care for stop and go traffic much.

Honestly though I'm quickly losing interest in it and if someone shot me a decent offer on it I would probably let it go.

But I do have a few cosmetic plans for the winter. I need to fix the rash on the other 3 wheels that my ex wife left me, I need to clean up the catch can mounting bracket that I made in a hurry, I want to grind the intercooler brackets off the intake manifold and paint it, possibly install an STI lip to the front and maybe If I can find the funds change out the heat exchanger for the LTA intercooler for a bigger one.
