Well fuck....now I am considering selling the pte and going with a drop in gtx or possibly a 2871. I Just feel like I dont need to have SO much power but upper 300s would be nice. I am trying to set my priorities straight with school and interning right now and a drop in seems like it will have way less headaches than an ewg journal bearing turbo.

Dude...you want my recommendation? See if you can get the ATP bolt-on GTX2867. You would have retarded torque, faster spool than a 2871, but more power.

edit: don't see it offered on ATP quite yet, but it will be there soon. The 2871 would be pretty tight, but 3071 is a pretty awesome option as well.

Oh I wish they made a gtx2871...I would rock that turbo in a heartbeat! But yeah I'm pretty much almost committed to going bolt on gtx3071 right now. I am just hoping I can sell the precision + inlet and all the oil lines and fittings fairly quick. This is the 2nd time I've put it up for sale I believe.

I believe his PTE is a 3in inlet. Not the 4in needed for gtx

Probably going to go full speed ahead on the pte build also. I feel like selling and rebuying another turbo would just be a hassle, plus ewg is badass!

I only need to either rebuild my mani or buy a new mani, vband dp, fp internals, wastegate and boost controller, and 3" intake and I'm set to go.

bro, go to dell.com and buy a $150 netbook, use it for tuning, has built in wireless n shit. That's what I use for portable ATR tuning.

Are you positive you want a Tial MV-R? I have a brand-spankin new MV-S for cheaper than you'll find it anywhere

I would offer to sell my downpipe, but the problem with it is it doesn't quite reach the catback. Mason had to build it for me using his car, so it was just a tiny bit different. Just sad to see such a nice piece go to waste, but you have to mod your catback to make it fit.

Yeah I need a 44mm wastegate....if you read rigor's thread he had problems overboosting with a 38mm and going bigger with a 44mm solved it. Also madvillian and cageyvet were both running 44s on their 5557s. Its ok though, my buddy who works at a performance shop is hooking me up with an mvr for $200

And with the vband dp, couldn't I have a shop extend the side that mates to the exhaust a little bit? Is it a full dp or just the upper? My plan for the dp was but atp's long dp cut off the mazda flange right after the O2 sensor and weld on a vband flange. Or wait for racebuilt to come out with their 3" vband dp for $350.

rigor had boost control issues because the manifold he has sucks huge donkey dicks (Race Roots). Other people running similar turbos with MV-S have perfect boost control. Anyway, yes, you could extend the downpipe. It's about 1 1/2" too short.
