(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Welp, I had finally installed my temporary 3071 bolt on. Enjoyed it but rolled into it too much without a tune yet. Sunday nite it spiked at about 28psi and I started feeling power loss. I limped about one more mile with a shit storm of black smoke behind me before it died right at the turn light before the bar where my buddies were at. (I love that I got AAA too btw haha). Pulled the bumper off, loaded up the car & had it towed home. There was oil all over the engine bay near the left intake runner. Pulled the intake mani & it was full of chocolate milk but I didn't see anywhere in the block where I may have thrown a rod. Then I noticed a huge crack in the mani on the left runner right at the end of the runner which explains all the oil in the bay. So my conclusion is I just blew the head gasket. I'm going to harbor freight today to pick up a compression tester. Gonna check that out. Then yesterday after spending all day in a 130* attic (don't work on your car when you're exhausted and sleepy) I got home and rushed to get my car up on jack stands among other stuff I needed to get done before I had to leave at 7. Got the rear up, moved to the front. Evidently started lifting the car up by the fucking radiator bracket. Wheels were about 3-4" off the ground and the bracket snaps, radiator end tank busts open, all the coolant ends up on my driveway. Radiator gets all mangled up from the jack smashing it when the car dropped. So that was my last straw. After the compression test I'm gonna pull all the parts I won't need & post them up for sale. Still figuring out the a/r I want to run. I wanna run the redline out to maybe 7200. I'm thinking twin scroll T4 GT35 with .90 or so a/r. 9.5:1 pistons & I plan out boring out .1 l & sleeving it. Something like CP-E's silly $6k+ deal but for a price that I can source out locally for a LOT less. I'm just in the planning stages now. But I plan on pulling the motor & gathering parts asap. I want to be 100% complete with a solid safe & reliable tune that I can beat the shit out of the car on the track. Needless to say I'll be on here a lot more frequently. Kick back, relax & help me out thru this journey fellas. The beers on me. ![]() Logan |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Gutted the car as much as I could at the time. If it isn't physically necessary to drive I took it out for the most part. But there's a few more things I plan to do. I should be able to get it under 3000 when I'm done. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score holy big hotside batman! .90 on a 35r is huge. is this going in the stock location, or are you thinking top mount setup? i think with a 35r in stock location on the speed6 it is a really tight fit.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I still have the orange wheels, tho I'm letting a buddy borrow them for the moment since someone stole his HREs. The turbo isn't going in the stock location. I'm doing a top mount mani, tho I haven't decided if I want to do a custom tubular or just do Leen's for sake of ease. I know you all LOVE Leen's shit right now, but I've always been a firm equal length tubular guy. Plus they look better imo. I haven't made up my mind tho. I'm still in the very early planning stages. Also I'm not 100% on the a/r either. I remember Dustin and others saying a .90 on a TS T3 became a bottle neck. I know T4s are bigger so I may not need quite as high of an a/r. Again, still researching and planning. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Yeah I know, but it could have been a lot worse. The block seems to still be good. I went to do the compression test today but the kit I picked up is a gay one. I got a cylinder leak kit, figuring it'd do the same thing, but I need an actual compression test kit. I'll be picking one up either tomorrow or Monday. Will report those numbers and then start pulling all my parts and posting them up for sale, and getting the head ready for work, then start on pulling the block. Depressed and excited at the same time. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Did the compression test tonight. Cylinder #1: 168 psi #2: 205 psi #3: 0 psi #4 252 psi Soooooo, yeah. Crazy variation and cylinder 3 is definitely frigged. A buddy of mine thinks I probably spun the rod bearing. I've already got the DP, exhaust, intake mani, and intake stuff pulled. Tomorrow I'll pull the exhaust mani and turbo and try to get it all posted up for sale. Then I'll start pulling everything off so I can pull the block, see the damage and start getting it all worked on. I'll slowly be pulling other things to post up for sale: things I'm replacing/upgrading/removing, etc. Eventually I'll have the ACT race clutch/flywheel, probably the TWM stuff, Standback, etc. If anyone is interested in anything else (stock parts, or mods) PM me. I'll let you know if/when I'm yanking it. Stay tuned. _______________ |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Got most of the bolt-on/accessory pieces off the car tonight. Just the little stuff left before I'm able to get the block pulled. Searching around local machine shops that are known for good head work and block boring. If anyone has had any good experiences or knows of any legit shops in the Tampa area let me know. Once I source out a good shop I'm gonna have them start on port/polishing the head and boring the block. I'll try to have FS pics of all the stuff I'm selling. The FMIC is pretty much accounted for. I think the DNP mani is too. Other than that I'll have an MS3 Xcel Nano, Nviscid for big turbos, GT3071 IWG bolt on, Catless 3" CP-E DP & My custom cat back. Also got the factory seats, seatbelt tensioners, airbags never deployed, etc. Please don't clutter up this thread with dibs or asking for prices, what parts I'm selling, will I sell this or that or whatever. Send me a PM or wait until the FS thread shows up in the FS section. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Got most everything pulled off the block. Now I just need a buddy to come over and give me a hand unbolting the tranny and removing the block. He's gonna let me borrow his crane. He lives 5 minutes from me but lining up our work schedules is such a pita. Got a big part out sale up in the F/S engine section. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score No hole. My buddy is pretty sure I just spun a rod bearing. I'm hoping he's right. But I won't know until I get the block pulled and opened up. Hoping to get that done by this weekend, if not in the next few days. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Did some serious work tonight. Stephan came over and gave me a hand pulling the motor out tonight. The garage is a mess. Motor, tranny & differential pulled. Tranny and diff pulled off. Tranny is full of grease and gunk. Clutch & flywheel pulled off. I thought I had a 6 puck sprung hub. Turns out I had an unsprung hub. Pretty shitty for daily driving. After maybe 10-12k miles the clutch is shot. As it turns out, race clutches aren't meant to last lots of miles and be daily driven on the street. After that we pulled the valve cover. Everything looked just fine. Decided to pull the oil pan before we called it a night. BTW, I fucking LOVE my F2 oil pan baffle!!!! I may be lucky as hell after seeing the beginning of the damage. Granted I won't know until tomorrow for sure when I pull the head off, but my fingers are crossed. The verdict: blown rod #3. The oil pan baffle took all the brunt of the force of the thrown rod. From what I can see there is no damage to the oil pan. Or the block for that matter. The rod shattered, and the only damage I can see is on this piece here bolted to the bottom of the block around the rods. I may still be able to use my stock block and head. Cross your fingers for me guys. Once I get the head pulled and everything removed from the head and block, I'll start sourcing out companies to bore and sleeve the block for me. I think I found 2 that look pretty good. As long as the block looks good, the foundation work will begin asap. I'll post up with some more pics tomorrow. For now, the couple I could get tonight. I guess this explains the zero compression is cylinder 3. We'll see how the cylinder walls look and if the piston was damaged too. Pics tomorrow. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Also, the shot to shit clutch. the friction plate had grooves in it from where it was worn down to the rings. So this is what you can expect from an ACT race clutch/fly kit. I ordered a 6 puck sprung hub, but it was definitely unsprung as you can see. And it was completely toast after 10k miles. |
