Hoping to go this route as well in the coming months. My 2nd K04 has started smoking so its time to go big. Glad to see there are some others in SoCal going this route.

Why are you going custom inlet/intake? Just cheaper or also because it will fit better? You having some aluminum bent or just fabbing it out of silicone couplers etc?

I know the reason why I want a custom inlet for my bt is because cp-e charges top much for a large diameter intake

The HTP 3" inlet is only $136 shipped then you just need a 4"-3" reducer.

Oh, well that is a good price for an inlet pipe but I was mistakenly talking about the MAF piping. I don't know of any options for a larger diameter intake and MAF sensor then cp-e

Get the ATP 3" MAF housing then you just need a 45 degree 3" coupler.

Just relooked at what you did and I'm going to be doing it Thursday and hopefully it will work to get my TIP in so I can just about have all this buttoned up.

As well as treadstone. HTP will also make you a full intake to turbo inlet if you ask. They just don't have it listed, but they have a jig for it.

Also heres a picture of my charge pipe that @Daddy Chinkus welding shop cut and fabbed an extension to make it work with the GTX.


Also ordered a Treadstone 3'' Big Maf and a honeycomb and those should be here soon. Injector seals from PTP are also here and should be going in soon.

That amp wire looks like it might be unhappy being so close to your snail.

Also, maybe slap some black paint on the piece they added? Pretty sure you can get wrinkle black in a rattle can.

I picked the 3" because the bigger maf sized you go the more unsteady flow becomes. 3" should be quite adequate for most power needs since stock size is supposedly good for 400wheel

sweet, you're gonna love the DH. I'm so spoiled by mine, I hate driving without it anymore. It's great to be able to monitor so much info on demand.

I'm a big fan of using an OBD-II splitter cable so you can leave the wires for both the DH and the AP in place and just swap back & forth as you need to log or load maps.

Ok new inlet and intake is in and heres some pics








And heres the coolant hose that gets in the way. I was going to extend it be instead I took the coupler off the turbo and connected it to the inlet pipe and was able to get it on so no need for the mess.

Yes and no I'll see if I can remember everything and list it out here. Now the 3 Bar MAP with pigtail I just bought. The reason being is because my MAF is already maxed out and the WGDC is at 0% and I'm getting boost creep. @Lex said I needed one and therefore I ordered one and should have it here very soon and wil install that and injector seals at the same time.

As for a TIP I had a custom 3'' pipe bent and made to fit. Now I didn't run a recirc tube so my BPV was running VTA and making the car run like shit so I had to rig it so it was blocked off. I might end up just buying a CP-E TIP for convienence. So I suggest just getting the CP-E Big Turbo Inlet :Products | Custom Performance Engineering

Also your if your running a front mount the charge pipe might need to be extended like I had to shown in an above picture. I had an extension welded on and it fits like a glove.

Also with the 3'' inlet my battery box and ECU did not fit well at all and I was forced to drill two new holes into the box and bolt the ECU to the new holes. Its quite sturdy but I like things to look as stock as possible and it doesn't.

Also if your like me and didn't plug the coolant lines on the stock turbo when removing it you will end up loosing a decent amount of coolant that contains that damn FL22 and can only be found at the dealer for about $34 w/ tax, but I just found it here for cheaper. : Mazda FL-22 Extended Life Coolant with part number 0000-77-508E-20

how simple is the map install? You should have @Daddy Chinkus make a video of the it. I am thinking about buying the same sensor myself so you would be doing me a huge favor and I'm sure it will be beneficial for everyone.

So far this bt build has been the most helpful for me. Especially since I have followed it from the beginning.

How was the car running like shit without the recirculating hose? And since I'm ignorant on this subject what's VTA? I should look up the acronym thread but fuck it

VTA = vent to atmosphere ... makes the car rich when the BOV cycles, because the air was already metered by the MAF and the BOV let it escape before it entered the motor. The computer is adding fuel for air that never actually reached the cylinders.
