Speed 6 big turbo build.

Alright guys, this is my first build thread, so bare with me.
Came over to my speed6 from a .50 trim SRT4, so I'm somewhat familair with the big turbo game.

Parts on the car as it sits now (all off the top of my head, ill post anything I missed when I get home from work)

CS TMIC
NGK +1 plugs )gapped at .29
Ebay catless DP into 3" piping into 2 high flow magnaflow mufflers
RMM
PERM'd
Forge V2 BPV
Megan racing springs
RX-8 wheels
Pro sport mech boost gauge
Aeroforce interceptor
AP (obviously if im tuned)
Autotech HPFP internals
NATOR NM/PERM stickers (25 whp minimum)

Mazda flanged ATP IWG hotside (ported by @jmhinkle)

ATP 14psi IWG

Also ordered new oil return gasket, and turbo-manifold gasket (as I have had bad luck re-using those in the past)
Shooting for 430awhp and just under 400tq (trying to avoid ZZB as long as possible), might be hard pressed to get that at this alttitude with just e85, but we'll see. Cant wait to get this thing on the car and tuned!
Should be installing all the big stuff in the next 2-3 weeks

Comments, concerns, suggestions, are def appreciated.

UPDATE: Got the car dyno'd yesterday, blew my expectations away. For the relatively small amount of money I have put into my car, I was extremely happy with my numbers. Gotta give a big shout out to @djuosnteisn (PERM FTW!) for helping me out all day at the dyno day, dudes a gat-dayum genius with Mazdaspeeds.

rods are cheap when compared to a short block. just saying. you also wont have to limit yourself trying to put off the inevitable. other than that your build sounds good.

Ya I know, trust me. Seems the general consensus is 400+ tq kills engines faster. I'm planning a build next year (just gotta pay off some debt), so it should hopefully last me until then

Well I'm going toss like 2-3 gallons of e85 in. Whatever that gets me is what I'm going to keep until I can beef up the engine a bit more.
And it's my understanding that I don't need a 3 bar map unless I plan on staying EBC? I'm just putting a mbc on.

With e85 you will run out of fueling faster like I am, 92% IDC's at 20 psi at redline and the air is thin up here just like where you are. You are correct about the MBC and the MAP sensor.

I still need to get the front dif mount, I'd like to get a new rear sway bar as well and just knock it all out in one install.

Think about grabbing a clutch while you are at it...... If your going to get a rsb grab the corksport rear and front at the same time.... If your gonna go big do it all zzb is a Bitch bro be ready to spend some money and if I were you I would save those high power goals for when you have a built block ready or have the money for it

Yaaa, I've seen a lot of engine failures on here lately. It's got me admittedly a little worried. I'll be happy with 380-400, and I'm going to try and keep the tq down under 400.

I honestly don't beat on my car that hard, so it's just gotta last me until next spring/summer. The plan is to buy things piece by piece, then install it all in a month period.
Clutch will be on that list. Thinking of just buying a stock one since they seem pretty stout.

Hmm, that's a bummer. Though it might be for the best since I can't afford a new vta mod (aka zzb) at the moment haha.

That's where I am at right now pretty much maxed out with the hardware I have but its probably keeping me from pushing my car harder than I should.

StratifiedAuto Guardian Angel (saved my ass twice already)
get a 3.5" MAF pipe and some tubing to make your own big intake. get rid of what you have now.

I dont think you'll want to run at 400tq. shoot for ~380 to err on the side of safety. If you really need the extra speed, take out spare tire and junk out of car, lose some weight, take a dump before driving.

While I have my TMIC off I'll re-gap my plugs.
Guardian angel might be in the cards later on, but right now I still have to much other stuff I need to get (EGR delete, OCC, fwd dif mount) Same goes for the 3.5 MAF piping. I think I'll run out of fuel before I max out the MAF on my intake now.

i'd get the GA first, i goofed once and accidentally turned up the boost too high. spiked around 20psi and the GA caught it before it went any higher. found out that i turned it waaaay to high and i should only run half of what i did. probably saved my motor. 200 bucks paid itself off immediately.


The 3.5" tubing, you'll feel restriction on the turbo, spoolup will be slower. lol. ask me how i know.

Wow, haha thats crazy. Wouldnt I then need a 3bar map if I planned on using the GA?
I am poooooooooor right now. So I'll probably just turn my mbc 1 or 2 clicks up at a time. Plus theres some locals out here running the same MBC who can help me ballpark where Ill be with how many clicks

As far as spool, I went with the IWG setup, I'm afraid I'll get gnarly boost creep if the flow is to good. I already have a catless dp into 3" cbe and my turbine housing is getting ported as well. If it doesnt creep to bad, I'll prob start looking into building myself a 3.5" MAF sri

Hold on. Since when do we not need a 3 bar when running and mbc?

The stock map cant read past ~22LBS of mani pressure regardless of what's controlling boost.
