(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I got a 2006 speed6 with 76,000 miles soon after I turned 18. It was about the only sedan that had a strong turbo engine without looking too crazy (my dad bought it for me). It also is a lot cheaper than a Mitsubishi or an STI lol. Anyway I drove it for awhile stock but it didn't take long until I wanted some more power. The first upgrade was an Access Port. I was kinda disappointed when I first got it because for some reason the off the shelf maps weren't hitting their boost targets. I still don't know why they weren't but I figured there must have been a waste gate problem. So I just made my own load based tunes and they worked great but it didn't seem to give it much more power. The stock turbo was maxing out at 225 grams/s. I even tried unhooking the wastegate and stepping on it at high rpm to see what I could get out of it but even then it only went to 231 g/s. Also my transmission was starting to give out. It was popping out of 2nd gear when coasting but acceleration was fine. I put a cpe rear motor mount on to see if that would help but it didn't. It did make it nicer to shift though. After I determined the turbo was maxed out I pulled it into the shop one afternoon. My initial plan was to take the down pipe out and weld in pipes where the catalytic converters were. But I had no idea how hard it was to take it out lol. I finally got it out and I realized there was no easy way to replace the first cat with a pipe so I ordered an eBay down pipe. That evening I went over to my brother's place and we were talking and he was showing me the turbo stuff he was buying for his Nissan and soon we came up with the idea to put his turbo on my car. The turbo was a $175 t70 off eBay from the speeddaddy store. As far as I know it has a 56/73mm 70a/r compressor and a 74/58 82 a/r twinscroll turbine. We took the stock turbo out and figured out the big turbo would fit. I got my buddy to weld the T3 flange to my stock manifold and he drilled new holes and did some grinding to make it fit. I got a universal 2.5 inch piping kit, a 25x12x3 inch intercooler and a Bov off of eBay. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I got a 3 inch intake also. I had to deleted the egr valve to make the turbo fit. With a some help from my brothers and my buddy who is a mechanic we got everything together but I did not put a wastegate on. The turbo spooled at 4000-4500 rpm but it was a pain to drive because I always had to make sure it wouldn't over boost. A few weeks later i put a wastegate on from obx racing. With my buddys help we drilled a hole in the top of the manifold and welded a flange on. We then put a section of flex pipe from the wastegate to the down pipe. After that was on I finally figured out how fast it was! The air flow went up 350 g/s range and the vdyno went from 225 stock to 350 - 400 HP range. I had the wastegate set at 21 psi. The 0-60 times went from 5.9 stock to the 4s( the best I did was 4.4 and the quarter mile in 13.00. I'm happy!! Lol ![]() Eventually second gear got so bad it started popping out under acceleration so I had to skip second. At that point I pulled it into the shop dropped the engine and trans rebuilt my transmission, put a act clutch in, and did a full engine build. The transmission fork for 1st and 2nd had the plastic pads broken off so I order 3 forks from speed performance with brass pads. The Transmission works great but I now I have more vibration with the new flywheel and balance shaft delete which can be annoying at lower rpms. And now my fuel pump is maxed out so my engine build didn't help me much so far. I never upgraded the fuel pump internal because I'm assuming that's already done because I don't think a stock pump supports 20 psi of boost or 400 HP. I never dynoed it but it seems the vdyno is fairly accurate from what I read. With air its flowing that makes sense. Sometime I would like to get a twinscroll manifold, a better spooling turbo and port injectors. ![]() ![]() ![]() Yes I'm slightly redneck lol. I bet i'm the only one with a stock T3 turbo manifold :-) —But I'm having fun and I think it can be even more fun when you don't quite play by the "rules". So far the turbo has been holding up so I guess not all eBay turbos are bad. There's a lot more I could explain but I'm tired of typing so just ask questions if you want more details. (Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score So now I'm thinking my fuel pump is not upgraded lol. When I bought the car there was a Manuel boost controller in the center console so I figured since I wasn't having much problem with rail pressure drop the previous owner upgraded it. But since I have such a huge turbo it don't spool until higher rpm and that's also when the pump flows the most. So I guess once you have upgraded internals the rail pressure shouldn't drop below 1700 but mine drops to 1000 with the boost above 20 psi. So basically a faster spooling turbo will need that upgrade before a large slow spooling turbo. At least I don't need to switch to aux fuel yet. Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using Tapatalk |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Actually I did do a lot of reading on here but I just never posted before. Yeah I know it might sound like I don't know anything but I'm adventurous enough to do stuff that ain't "cool" to see if it works. So far it hasn't made a problem and I've been running it a few thousand miles now. My turbo did smoke for a while but I put a better drain on it and that took care of it. As far as eBay stuff there's no guarantee but then there is no guarantee with name brand stuff either. I just read about the guy who seized up a gtx3076 twice. At least if mine seized up its only a 170 dollar turbo lol. Here's my 1/4 mile time. For some reason I can't get good 60 foot times but at least things wont break as soon that way. ![]() Sent from my SHIELD Tablet using Tapatalk |

| Not Ranked : 0 score you should do a 4th gear pull and throw that log into Virtual Dyno, Curious to see how long the welds on that manifold will hold up, you defiantly should've done at least the HPFP first. But at least you're having fun with the car, once i get my XS power manifold im basically going to do the same thing but with a precision turbo

| Not Ranked : 0 score I take no issue with being adventurous and trying out/fabricating new parts, after all that's what a fun/project car is about. I lost respect however, when you "assumed" it had an upgraded fuel pump and said the pressure dipped to 1000 psi. That right there to me said you don't respect your car. For the sake of the car prove me wrong. |

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Yeah I agree running my fuel pressure that low was the dumbest/riskiest thing I did. But in my defence I was also watching the AFR at that point and it never went above 12.0 so it didn't knock or anything. No even I don't think a fuel pump is something to skimp on lol. I'll probably go with autotech. I was thinking of going with Integrated engineering cause there are supposedly built better but I'm not sure its worth the extra money. Where could I get a sticker like that?... Ah that's right eBay haha :-) BTW that 1/4 mile I was just on a road. There's a long, flat bridge nearby so I it did at night when there wasn't any traffic.
