(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score I just installed a BNR Stage 3 on my Mazdaspeed6. It has a very good high end performance but takes an extremely long time to spool up - it seems that this thing wakes up around 3k and real high boost pressure is reached far beyond 3500 rpm. I'm hitting my boost targets of ~20.3 psi from 4 - 6k with WGDC values of max. 63, so in principal the turbocharger is working as expected, but what could be the reason for the very late spooling? My WOT-load values are very low as well (<1.9 at 3.5k/intake air temps of ~100°F). Just for your information: I still have the stock intake system (except for the tip) and no fmic! Best regards from Germany! |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Going wot at 2500 you should have 20+psi at 3200-3400 rpms. You may need to make load table adjustments, wgdc adjustments, or wastagete/load dynamics adjustments. As raider said, post some logs and we can check it out.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Yes, I forgot to mention that I'm running a Grimmspeed in 3 port mode. The wgdc start values are high enough - my boost dynamics maps are stock, and since I'm boost tuning, I (almost) don't care about the load maps ;-) Other mods: SU tmic, water inj., racepipe, cb, tip, k&n air filter, hpfp-upgrade, forge bov, itv22 plugs. Concerning intake mods: I'm going to install a Corksport sri + cold air box although this won't be much beneficial in conjunction with the current hot summer temps. I will post some data logs this evening. Last edited by EmPeEs6; 06-21-2012 at 08:19 AM. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score too much restriction on the intake and you need a tune, bad. my 3071 hated having such a small intake (cobb intake + PG TIP) I can't imagine how the heck you're running on stock intake. Just too slow to spool.

| Not Ranked : 0 score again, suggest: -post map -post maf cal and WOT logs -compile list of related mods into single post so folks do not need to search your stuff -donate, as detailed answer is obviously worth more than your time to search, learn & extrapolate from existing information. Heck, you've already been told where to begin looking. and no, I won't pester over & over. I just think it's a cheap price for what folks charge quite a bit to do professionally that is being asked for for free.

| Not Ranked : 0 score A larger intake and exhaust will certainly help. The BNR is a fast spooling turbo, your WGDC should be 100% up to 3000 RPM. Without more information it's hard to tell if this is a hardware issue or a tuning issue.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Seems fairly straight forward to me... Stock intake, stock primarly cat, no real tune. What did you expect. Open up the breathing a little for that turbo and get a real tune and you will be quite pleased I imagine.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Thank's Lex - this was exactly the problem! Since I used to run a wgdc start value of 35 at 3k rpm resulting in 20.3 psi with my upgraded k04, I thought that the BNR would spool up early enough to produce at least 17.4 psi at this revs and wgdc. I increased the value to 55 (and also the one for 2500 slightly) and now the car runs much better! Concerning the "very helpful" comments like "you need a proper tune...": I'm just beginning to tune the BNR and there are almost no experiences with this turbocharger in Germany, so this process will take some time! |
