For those with built engines would you build it again?

sorry to thread jack here but would you be able to substitute a new oem block for lets say a CP-E stage 3 block and not have any of these same issues of getting rebuilt vs new? im a CP-E fanboy obviously and if I was to get built then I would probably go with the CP-E block with the 90mm bore and I would try to do all the labor myself (not sure if you need anything else besides the block and stuff that comes with it).

Excellent question, i have been wondering the same thing going the CPE route. Can you buy the block with their rods and pistons already installed and everything balanced so its pretty much bolt in with our car?

For coolant I run 60%water and I live in Houston. In the summer I see oil temps around 190-200 and coolant temps around 180-190. You don't want to run more than 70% water due to corrosion and deposits.

Are you measuring oil temp off a filter sandwhich plate?

Yes. Its the same as the engine temp on the ap with my car.

I remember when I was in the 240sx scene and my boy wanted to build his sr20 motor. So we went to a well known engine builder in the area and spoke to him about doing the work. He asked if there anything was anything wrong with motor, and my boy said no. He asked if he was building a car to run at the track? My boy said no. The builder told him leave the car alone then. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. As long as you don't try and exceed the motors Limitations then its fine for a street car. If the car was made for turbo from the factory then it can take some abuse. So save your money! Just like lex said I've known many people with built motors whos cars are never running, always some b.s, lol..

Yep I decided to not build. Going to drop in an sbc clutch and ride the engine out. I'm happy with the 400whp I'm at.

thanks for the advice, i was thinking if i should rebuild soon at 90k with stage one parts or not. Ill do a compression check sometime to see if any seals are shot.

Carrillo rods, PU pistons, BSD...everything else OEM except for the "aftermarket" ring gaps.
