(Thread Starter) |   Not Ranked : 0 score  Why not another S3 turbo build! Well as some of you may know, my HT65 from Forced Performance has finally started to smoke pretty much everywhere that I go. Sitting for about 30 seconds and the smoke starts to roll. Tried talking to FP about it, they blamed my car said they have pretty much these same turbo's running on Porsche 944's with zero issues. Interesting...So I decided to throw in the towel and jump on the S3 bandwagon with everyone else  The turbo lasted 2 years and about 40K miles give or take some here and there. And will be sent back to BNR to get disassembled! @atvfreek gave me S3 fever after looking at his numbers and how well it is performing on his car. Last Monday I purchased the S3 from Bryan, he shipped it but because of the holiday I didn't get it until today! Also looks like 7 out of the 9 studs are currently in the turbo! Wasn't going to install it until the weekend but I'm thinking about pushing it up for tomorrow and taking the day from work since I have some time to burn between now and the end of the year. Also purchased a DO 10 nozzle from Devils Own so I can remove my DO7 nozzle for more power! I would like to kiss the 400 HP mark then back her down. As I do have meth and e85 at my disposal I will update this thread as I go but I will be installing : BNR S3 Steel Braided Coolant line DO10 nozzle for meth along with my other parts to hopefully make it. Oh and lets not forget it's going to be FREEK tuned. Progress to follow.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Congrats on the BNR man. It will be easy tuning, especially seems how we have a solid base map to work from, and I know you have all the supporting mods. You will be ripping around in no time. Sucks that the FP turbo started smoking. I swear our PCV system just sucks ass. I will be putting a VC catch can on very soon. 26psi likes to push a little oil out the vent and into my intake.

And in other news...Turbo is INSTALLED!! Took me an hour and half to get the turbo completely out then I started to hit little snags here and there. In total still took about 4 hours. There was all sorts of shavings in the bolt hole coming out of the turbo for the oil return line (didn't notice that until I was trying to hook it up). Had to pretty much make new threads for the return line inside of the turbo but all is good! First start up, zero leaks for boost, oil, or coolant. Just had to add some to the overflow but other than that turbo install was a breeze! Thank you to everyone else who did the turbo install before me and made how to's. Especially @atvfreek and @Ziggo I will upload photos soon of the install. Found out the FP turbo had a bunch of shaft play (well anymore than no shaft play is too much). Oil was covering the inside of the turbo and intercooler pipe. Glad I got that out when I did!

Are you going for a 24psi tune right now? How much timing are you running up top so far? I'm stuck at 17.5* at redline if I remember right. Lol

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Well something isnt right. With the wastegate showing zero in all the logs boost still builds to 23 PSI. I hooked an air compressor up to the wastegate and it seems to open without issue from what I can tell

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Update : will be pulling the downpipe off once I get home to diagnose. Need to see if wastegate flap is hitting downpipe. Even though it seems as tho it is opening with compressed air. If still not hitting will be hooking the turbo up directly to the wastegate to see if I can get it to work that way. My turbos just dont want me to have the fast!! Lol

check downpipe/ebc first. If no issues will buy new lines for ebc and make sure nothing clogging lines. Also need to make sure the wastegate arm didnt get bent somehow during install. After that no clue...Even tho it would be quite easy since my grandfather is a 4th generation welder and with a divorced DP already I could just route it back into the DP. Lol. Maybe another day.
