(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Recently, we've released some parts that seem to attract criticism lately. These parts are mostly made from suggestions from this very forum or from our website submissions. Invariably we get complaints that it's not for this car or not for that car or too expensive or not in the right color. So, with that in mind, I've decided to give one lucky MSF'er a chance to put his money where his mouth is. If you are truly interested in a part, have a great idea for it, think it will sell enough for us to make at least 100 of them, are willing to pay for your own prototype and work with us to perfect it; now is your chance! So here it is, post what you want, what you'd be willing to help with (your time and money will be required) and how many you think you could actually help sell. We know our customers are our brand, so tell me what you are willing to do to get the part you really want. Cheers, Joel P.S. I think this could be a lot of fun for the right person. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score After successful design/prototyping by the person, which party retains rights to the part? If there is any IP created from a new innovation, who owns the intellectual property? If the person owns the part, will you license it from them or buy the design? If you buy/own the part does the designer get royalties from sales?

I have a feeling this is geared toward providing a part for our cars that no one else offers...a white flag after the lugnut debacle, if you will. I don't think Joel@Corksport had dollar signs in his eyes while he thought up the idea for this thread. | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I heard from a little bird that Joel said the reason corksport "didn't make" rear calipers, was because of the "integrated drum parking brake." Because well all know that's how out parking brake works. Maybe corksport should concentrate on completing parts that they've already brought to market first. IE, find an Asian supplier for the rear caliper and put their name on it. Or is that too late now that willwood makes a kit? Why would it have to be cast?

| Not Ranked : 0 score I've played with drawing both up in CATIA and Pro/E (what I use at work) just to see if I could. I dont know enough about runner length or size, it was more of just seeing how difficult it would be. It's actually really tough when you have no reference geometry to help, like the full engine in the engine bay.

| Not Ranked : 0 score So now that you know the brakes aren't drum parking, will you finish the kit? And get the brakets for the speed6 made? Seems to me there are loose ends which should be tied up, before putting something else on your plate.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Brackets for Speed 6 are on the way. I think the rear brakes are going to be strictly a money concern. They won't sell enough to be worth it is my thought. If you look back everyone said they wanted red... the people that actually bought the brakes... left a lot of red on our shelves. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I like this idea. It could produce some parts that are badly needed but no one will tackle to do limited sales/returns. I'd be willing to brush up on my Solidworks/Autocad/Mastercam skills if it'd help. Plus I'm always willing to be a guinea pig.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I still know for a 100% fact that if somebody designed/modified a spill valve to work with upgraded internals the way the stock spill valve works with the stock internals and be compatible with E85 that this spill valve could be sold to pretty much anyone that has ever or would ever install internals and I imagine the margins would be there to make it worthwhile.

| Not Ranked : 0 score We have a lot of people on this forum with different skills. We could easily assemble a Design team where some people can work on drawing it up, others could help price out and obtain materials, someone to fab, someone to do the engineering validation, someone to test. I doubt one person could do all of this, but we could make it a team effort. I realize this is kind of what Corksport is saying, but for example, if I wanted to design an exhaust mani, I am not in the position to be able to install for testing purposes. This is where a team would be handy.

They're not even fronting the prototype capital.

| Not Ranked : 0 score That was my first thought. If all the skills are here on MSF and CS isn't funding anything, other then end production that they profit from, not MSF, then what is the point of involving CS?

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score These are all good points. I like the discussion!!! Let's keep in mind that just because you would be responsible for helping fund the costs of your prototype to keep and test, doesn't mean that CS would not be spending money. Engineering time, dyno testing (if needed), design time, etc. all cost money. If anyone feels like starting their own business, I'm all for that, we would probably be there to help and give advice. But if you want to be part of something, without having to start your own business, but still be able to say "that was me". This is a great opportunity. I will also say, that it can be lucrative if the idea is actually a killer. The customer that helped us with our BOV idea will be getting royalties when we finally release it. So there's nothing in this for use to just profit, we want to put our money where your mouth is just as much as you do. I see this as a success even if the net gain is zero dollars. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I would definitely be down to help develop some springs (or possibly coils) that are actually rated for the speed6. I know it's not a new idea but it bothers me that Autoexe is the only one making real speed6 springs and rpm is long gone. I'm going to school for automotive engineering and I can check if there is a spring dyno. I can also try and get access to lifts and alignment racks if needed. I also find rear calipers, manifolds and driveshaft all great ideas.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Would three other MSF members be willing to chip in $500 each (total of $2,000) for adjustable lower front control arms? Here is a generic plan with the money: -Buy two new control arms (left and right) to determine the stock mounting locations. I wouldn’t trust a used lower control arm, as one curb check is all it takes to tweak it. -Build two prototype welding jigs to duplicate stock mounting locations and then use them to fab up the actual controls arms once the design is completed. I used to work next door to this shop and they did the same thing: About Us : Maximum Motorsports, the Latemodel Mustang Performance Suspension Leader! -Use heim joints for the two mounting locations and a similar design for the ball joint as in this kit: CFM Front Tubular Control Arms for '00-11 Ford Focus -Conduct a rudimentary destructive testing similar to this one at 2:30 onward time frame. This way there is a no B.S. and you have clearly shown that your lower control arms are stronger than stock. Also showcase the figures derived from the engineering package you guys use: You could build something similar to that test fixture in 3-4 hours and use it for future suspension components. Since this is a lower control arm, gussets and or pierced tubes with welding around the circumference are mandatory to reduce catastrophic failures during impact damage. I would emphasize strength, lateral stiffness for reduced deflection, and then adjustments in that order. The four who provided the money should each receive a free pair of control arms and then CorkSport can make money on the other 96 pairs.

| Not Ranked : 0 score How about a on/off switch for all of us peeps with V2 APs that don't intend to upgrade. Basically all it needs to be is an OBD II connector male on one side female on the other with a switch in it. Install between the cable and the the factory port no cutting of wires needed. Still not sure why anyone would want to put up cash just to say it was their idea. When I invest green I expect return on investment.
