Complained about CS return policy. CS stepped up. I like Spencer's butt

I ordered a BPV last night around 6pm and then sent email and order message before 7AM to cancel my order. Just had a chance to call to confirm cancellation and dude said that it shipped. Ok, that sucks, but I am reasonable and I understand that. Then I was informed that I can't return it and that Corksport doesn't accept returns, even in this case if the box remains unopened and returned.

Read the fine print I guess. I will sell this locally and just move on.


RETURN POLICY
All sales are final. CorkSport will only accept returns in the case of a manufacturer defect or a warranty related issue. Defective items will be replaced with an identical part. Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the purchaser. A preauthorized return number must accompany any return or delivery will be refused. If you would like to make a return, please open a warranty claim at this link

In the rare case a return is accepted, a 20% restocking fee will be deducted from refund/credit. Shipping charges are non-refundable. No returns or exchanges on non-warranted items will be accepted after 30 days of receipt.

Always take the time to read terms and conditions folks.

20% restocking fee makes perfect sense. I've had customers at work even complain about our 15% restocking fee and had to explain that time to ship, shipping, repackaging, and physically putting it back on the shelf, then updating inventory costs a lot to do.

Yeah I can't speak for the "all sales are final" policy. I don't have that at work, so no clue the philosophy behind that.

That fee is pretty standard all over. I've never canceled anything I have ordered for my car, though.

For me, customer service is not black and white. If I took a call from me, I would have looked at my account and thought, hmmm, this dude has ordered over 1K worth of shit from me over the last 3 years. Since he is a long standing customer and never returned anything, we can definitely absorb a return without an issue. "Sure, just when you get it, go ahead and ship it back at your cost and we'll refund your order". What's 20% of $186 vs. $1k in orders over 3 years? I walk away happy and order from them in the future.

Shit, my car is even on their website.

It's the language of the return policy that got under my skin a bit. Always read the terms and conditions folks.

Who did you talk to? Often the warranty process is out of the hands of us in sales. AKA we give you the line: "sorry we dont do returns" 95% of the time the customer is like ok, well I guess I did want it last night when I ordered, so I'll just keep it instead of buying that one I just found on eBay." but obviously there are different scenarios, which is where our warranty department comes in. They can make an exception and do a return, usually there is a 20% restocking fee, I have known it to be waived. Just depends on the situation, the customer and the item.

AKA: Sorry to hear about this, sounds like they did just follow our policy but didn't pass you to warranty to see if they can make an exception or evaluate the situation a little more.

Good of you to point that out. I have just recently starting reading store/return policy's on purchases as well. Fuck this though, but you know you will be able to turn around and sell it quick on this site. CS will probably lose some customers just based on "All sales final"

and I should say, a restock is fair, they took time to pack and ship and will have to take more to unpack and inspect, I have worked many customer service roles and was at one time a shipping/receiving manager; but all sales final? That I have a problem with and would hesitate to do business with any outfit that did and I like a lot of Corksport goodies. Buyer beware and watch those late night purchases

It's fair to note that almost all of the vendors on MSF have the same policy (almost word for word), but probably bend the rules often. It is just an upfront policy to have to cover yourself.

Also, just chatted with Brandon, sounds like he talked to you and that he did let you know that we didn't do returns, but offered to chat with our warranty/returns on it. So ya, let us know and I'll try my best to help you out.

Actually let me double check if it has left the building or not. If not, this shouldn't even be an issue.

P.S. To everyone.... Please CALL us if you need to cancel an order. I often fail to check every email before items get shipped. This is 100% a failure on my part, but calling us will get it solved ASAP.

I honestly don't see him blaming. Just stating facts. It's true, we "don't" accept returns. It is our policy.

I am curious why you changed your mind also though. Ha.

EDIT: just saw the emails "Hi please cancel this order. I found the leak problem with my existing bpv."

Also, I had returns/warranty grab it, they had to beat the USPS guy with a stick to get it back out of the truck, but we will cancel the order and refund ASAP.

Once upon a time I really had the CS BPV (beta tester) and it's pretty much one of the best designs out there. For me, one of it's biggest selling points is that it's 1 piece casting and uses the o-ring gasket. When I beta tested it, I already had a Turboshart BPV.

I only needed one, and the Corksport sold before the Turboshart after I listed both. Fast forward months.

I then discovered my Turboshart was leaking from every orifice- literally at the base because paper gasket is garbage, where the base mounts to the body and where the body mounts to the recirc tube. It was causing me some issues. Small post turbo leaks aren't necessarily easy to find. It wasn't until the fucker started whistling at me that it pulled my attention in and I started testing it.

I decided to buy a CS BPV, but then figured I would try an hour of work and $8 rtv on the Turboshart and I got the Turboshart leak free.

The Corksport BPV literally is IMO one of the best BPVs on the market for MS3/6, definitely the best in it's price range (<$200). So, it's worth some fuss.

Glad to see this got sorted out without much hassle. Every rule has an exception, and at first I was a little shocked that the response you got was that it shipped and you were pretty much shit out of luck. That's not ideal customer service IMO.

However, in the end, I have seen that Corksport does indeed take care of their customers. It has been shown that it is our responsibility as customers to make the appropriate contact and if we are polite and have valid reason most rules/fees can be altered per the situation.

@Spencer@CorkSport; is awesome for grabbing the box off the truck before it left the building. Shit, maybe I'll finally pull the trigger on the BPV and that box will be back on a truck before you know it. Time to check the bank account...

Reiteration on the quality of the CS BPV. Since end of beta test when bugs were worked out, it has continued to perform perfectly. I have never even had the need to remove and relube. That @Spencer@CorkSport; jizz that cums included is some miracle unicorn super lube goo! Way to innovate that wave spring fellas, and way to keep a long-standing customer and stand-up guy like @dale_gribble; someone who will keep coming back for more. Bending the rules for loyals is how you keep them that way.
