Default Control Arms

We have been quietly working in an adjustable front control arms since 2013 for the Mazdaspeed 3. We haven't said much about it as we wanted to get some real world use and abuse to validate the design to ensure it is trouble free.

We have been road testing the arm for over 2 years now and we are confident in the design being sturdy to hold up to the abuse people can put them through.

We know there is another option on the market which is fairly expensive. Our arms would be $525 for the pair. How many people would be interested if we made a batch of them?

@CorkSport; Are there any other benefits beside better adjustability? (weight savings, stiffer, etc.)

What is the weight vs. the OEM arm?

Will you be including the rear bushing housing and bushing?

If so, will they be available without it and compatible with aftermarket parts like the Whiteline Anti-Lift Kit?

OEM Arm 10lbs
CS arm 12.2lbs

It is a complete arm with bushings and rear bracket.

To keep our test data clean we have only run the arms as they are and not tried it with the whiteline kit.

Do these arms share the same rear "pinion" design as the OEM arm? That is to ask - would a bushing made for OEM arm theoretically fit these arms?

How many miles would you expect that spherical to last on a street car, and how easy is it to replace once it's worn out?

They can last an easy 50K if you pack the boot with grease to help keep the water out. One jam nut and then just unhread it. Reverse steps and you are done.

Sorry for falling off the planet and not answering the questions. I was on vacation then spent last weekend at the tracking beating up on on parts and trying to win some races.

I don't have an answer yet as we have not worn out the set installed on the car. I will talk to the bearing manufacturer to see if I can get an expected lifespan. The bearing is easy to replace, unbolt it and put the new one in.

It is very close to the stock rear design.

I am picking this project back up. We kind of stopped doing anything with it over the last two years to waiting for the mileage to pile up and the engineer who started the project is not here anymore. I will be running back through data we have and re-check everything for min-max on camber, if they work with whitelines, etc.

New STI's and EVO 10's have bearings at the LCA contact points and so should we!!!! Hell, even 70's Lambo's have them. You used heim joints on your rear camber arms (primary reason I bought them) and I have your upper strut mounts with bearings and rear toe links with heim joints. I want more heim joints!

You will be selling more of these to guys that want true steering accuracy and alignment at 9/10's and up driving limits. Those guys will have no problem with a slightly harsher ride from a bearing/heim joint vs a poly bushing. Just test drive a new STI. Suspension is firm and taught like it should be and they have bearings in the lower control arms now.

Tri-Point made these for the Mazda 3 track car and it didn't have half the power of what some guys are running...Please add bearings/heim joints:

These are some badass arms.

Need more concrete explanation of benefits of these over stock + whiteline bushings + camber plates...

Your design is better than the competition for the adjustability aspect. However, I would truly hope you would at least add a spherical bearing or heim joint to the front pivot point of the LCA. It is the least expensive option of the two pivot points.

Just bumping this...I've bought more than a few thousand worth of things from you guys in the last year (my wife says...lol) and these look interesting. I'm looking for balljoint durability and changability. I'm replacing my OEM arms this week after running at COTA last month.

So...if these are going to be significantly stronger then cool

Question 2007 Speed 3 control arm

I'm having trouble with getting the rear mount off the front lower control arm, will a gear puller work in this situation?Any suggestions not involving fire.
