No sir, I didnt receive any calls from Corksport other then from you in the morning, and your email in the afternoon.

I will check the email now from a terminal in case it didn't go to the phone.

EDIT: checked the email from a terminal. They didn't make it to the phone for whatever reason.
Sorry about that.

If I didn't answer the email you could have called, isn't that right fanboys.

Derrick, I will call again today around 10PST and talk with Brydon or whoever I need to speak to.

So I called Bryon today, explained to him my issues.

In my progress of taking everything apart yesterday iI swapped in some stiffer front springs I had laying around. Ride quality was improved significantly as well as turn in. I gave Corksport the specs on the springs to save people some time and headache. I am going to test some other springs that may be offered as a track/aggressive option in the future.

They asked how we could make this right? I said reimburse me for the cost of the springs that I had to use to correct the kit as well as I one more thing.. . .

ROLL CENTER ADJUSTER BALLJOINTS

Then I can lower my car for track duty.

I'd like to see this experience be constructive for the community.

The damage to my end links, chassis, wheel bearings and brake line better be the commitment that the roll center kits will be made. I don't want to feel like I damaged my car for nothing.

I think that's reasonable.

The amount of damage that the coils blocking up and causing the horrendous bang is no laughing matter...I have wheel bearings stashed away in case.

But there are times when damage is almost comical.

Shortly after the install of the coilovers, I noticed that the horn was making a sound like an ailing cat when I locked the doors getting home from work one night.

The next morning, on the drive to work, I went over the unavoidable rough patch which causes the same loud banging. After getting to work, I locked the car and pressed the button three times to hear the horn (I'm OCD like that) and there was no horn.

Today I went to change the horn and I saw it hanging...why was it hanging? The horn bracket broke...

I can't wait for those new springs to get in... 7k (392 lbs/in) is too soft for a 6" spring on the speed3. It may be perfectly fine on a regular 3 but not on a speed3.

Well I think 9k springs would be great for daily and 11k for track.

Maybe I missed something, but what was different with your car and the kit from corksport vs. everyone else who has bought the corksport kit and has not had any issues? Did you order a custom set of springs that are different than the normal supplied springs initially?

They are the same kit, we just use them on the track.

We run them at full height and full negative camber. We did this to get the most travel (apparently not) and the proper geometry.

Apparently when you do that, they get pissed off and fuck your couch.

Honestly the difference between Paul and most 'Speed3 owners is, Paul beats the living fuck out of his car driving it hard. I've never seen you drive Paul, but I've read a bunch of your work on this forum tuning and developing the chassis for hardcore driving. Most folks here don't wander into those actual racing sub-forums, they don't realize you're riding it hard.

I read this whole thread. Sometimes customer service doesn't happen like it should. Sometimes customers aren't as clear and communicative as they need to be. No blame laid here, just a statement of fact from someone who has been a customer and who has been retailer and supplier.

What I like about this thread: Paul, who drives his shit harder than most of us ever will, is now working with CorkSport to resolve these issues, because he wants a better product for our community. CorkSport, recognizing that Paul is one of those rare hardcore users appears to want him to utilize their products for improved performance.

What's the reality of this thread? It's fucking good shit. Better products by working with the parts suppliers and the end users. Shit, where I come from we call that a "positive feedback loop", and that's the best shit you can get.

I hope that Paul and CS can come together and provide a workable solution for Paul AND for the Mazdaspeed community.

Good shit.

I can attest to that. Paul has driven my speed before, and yes he was driving it hard (nothing like if he was at the track). He showed me what these cars are capable of....I will say this "the fucker can drive!"

Corksport, may very well be going downhill, it seems. The products should be engineered for drivers like paul to begin with.

Also on an unrelated note, when you purchase a FULL turbo back exhaust, ( AND WAIT OVER THREE MONTHS PATIENTLY ) they should come with corksports "better then stock" hangers.
And when you have to purchase those said corksport hangers because they do not come with the kit,, they should at least come with ALL 6 hangers needed, not just 4.
The products should be engineered and sold for the hardest of drivers. With end users like paul in mind... beating the hell out of it.

Not really. As said above they are resolving it and figuring out what happened.
They also have been offering us plenty of good things lately, with more great to come. IMO

No not really. The average person does not need some 30 way adjustable suspension for there car. The average person likely just wants something that will give them a little more then what the factory suspension offers. ie. just being lower or better handling, and staying comfortable all in one and with a not so bad price tag.

If they want more then that there are other options and specialty companies for that.

I am sure there is more info to this. ie was everything in stock when you ordered? Except this not the proper thread to be discussing this in. If it is an issue, you have the option of creating your own thread, or rant in your local nator thread.

The products should be engineered and sold for the hardest of drivers. With end users like paul in mind... beating the hell out of it.

did you buy those hangers expecting a 10hp increase? they're just hangers lol

Just curious...how are the camber plates holding up to this abuse?

Do the Corksport plates carry the weight of the vehicle on the spherical bearing in the plate, or do they carry it on the plate itself, like Ground Control's plates ? Based on the hits you have described, I am thinking about bent plates and/or damaged spherical bearings....

I haven't noticed anything bent regarding the camber plates. They are still able to be adjusted and move freely. I would suggest lubing them up as a preventive maintenance at least every oil change with a shot of . . . well anything to keep the water out. I use white lithium.

The only problem I've observed with the Corksport Camber Plates on a car has to do with the thickness of the pillowball and the top center nut being so big that it's difficult to grab the top of the damper shaft to tighten the nut (this is on a car with Mazdaspeed Accessories Coilovers [KW V3s, more or less] - @Gladcow;'s car).

Holy crap... 5.5" springs is way too short for the front of these cars. I was running 6" springs and that was giving me issue even at 800lb. Now I run 7" springs...

The plate carries the weight of the car, the bearing is unloaded.

Well, I spent some time talking with Paul. We came up with a few ideas and talked about a few things. We initially used a smaller spring from H&R that was only 7K. We have since changed to a custom spring much like the ones Paul uses now. Also, Paul and his team are a special case as they are in that 1% that actually beat the hell out of their cars and try to get every ounce of performance out of them. With that in mind, I'm going to do my best to get parts in Paul's hands to beat on.

His team is going to test out a few parts for us and give us feedback, as the #1 Mazda performance company we definitely want people like Paul and his entire team working to help us push the envelope just that much further.

Cheers,
Joel

A pure street pad, if you're doing anything more than Auto-x, you'll want something more aggressive.

The fix has been in for a long time, he just had one of the very first sets and never got the newer springs, he used his own. That, coupled with the fact that he is probably the only person running them at stock height made things a bit interesting. Paul actually runs a stiffer spring now as well that we were testing but we went with a slightly softer version after feedback.

Any chance of a modification to them to allow for close to stock ride height? As Paul has indicated, close to stock is ideal with getting maximum camber out of the car, given the chassis.

Any word on pricing for caliper upgrade? I was just about to do brakes on my car, but I'd hold off to upgrade to 4 pistons, if the price isn't insane.

You can get closer, I would PM Paul and he can tell you the exact things he did to get the most out of them.

As for the brakes... they are here:
Idea for cheaper 4 piston calipers

Price will probably be $799.99

Cheers,
Joel
