Default CorkSport Black Hose Clamps

Hey guys, we are looking at offering our intakes with black hose clamps and I just wanted to get people's opinions on the two different finishes we are looking at. Below are a couple pictures of the two styles, Powdercoat and Black Oxide.

The powdercoat finish is a little more black, but the black oxide can be applied to the entire clamp (threads included). Anyway let me know what you think! Thanks.

i would do the black oxide because it will provide more protection to the threads from the elements and rusting.

Black Oxide.

IMO, it's a more OEM look.

Black oxide.

If the price is reasonable, I'd order a few of these and would be interested in alternate sizes (for bpv clamps etc.)

Regarding the corrosion resistance of the threads, the clamps are stainless steel, and I tested one of the powdercoated clamps in salt water. I let it sit in the salt water for a couple days, then it has sat in our shop and by my desk for a couple weeks now and still no rust. The only thing on it is some salt that stuck to it but no damage to the threads at all.

Thank you guys for the feedback! I appreciate it. We will be aiming to have the black oxide clamps available by mid-November if all goes according to plan.

However, we have some of the powdercoated clamps in stock now, but right now we are only offering these with an intake. These will be a special edition intake only offered this one time. If you would like the black powdercoated clamps, please request the black clamps in the comments of your order. And great news you can get the black powdercoated clamps at no extra charge!

For those of you who want the black oxide clamps, again we are looking at mid-November. Let me know if you guys have any questions, and thanks again!

We will have the black oxide for intakes for sure, but as it seems like many of you want just clamps, are there any sizes you would want especially? Again it is only a maybe at this point as far as single clamp sales go, but if we did offer clamps for purchase, what are the sizes you guys would want the most?

Couple of ideas for you:

First, although I like the powdercoat black, if the threads don't match, it'll end up looking incomplete, esp. compared with the SURE stealth clamps. In that case, you'd have to compete with them on price alone, which would probably suck for you both. (Then again, at ~$5 ea. for the SURE clamps, I doubt it'd be hard for you to win the price game). The oxide look is stealthier, IMO, and I like that (less ricey).

Second, CS already has multiple replacement silicone hose options, so why not make black hose clamps sized appropriately to the application and offer them as options with each silicone hose you all sell? SURE offers a whole array of black clamps, but they're offered as universal parts, which leaves some guesswork to figure out which ones you'll need when you install, say, a new TIP or new IC hoses. When I bought my CS silicone intercooler and recirc tubes from you, I went over to SU to buy their black clamps because I liked that look. (If I had known you were working on these, I would have waited...too bad for me.) Since I had to guess about the diameter ranges a little, I ended up with some clamps that barely fit. I think the IC clamp on the hot-side tube was right in between two standard sizes - can't remember which ones, tho. I would MUCH rather have been able to select "black clamps" as an option on your web site when I was buying the tubes. Would have saved a lot of angst. Right now I have some nice shiny silver-colored hose clamps sitting unused in an empty CS box taking up space in my garage.

So, in summary, offer sizes that sound more like "hot- and cold-side IC tube clamps (4 pcs.)" than "2.75 inches".

OK, enough free consulting for one day!

fooqr, thank you for the suggestion, we will look into just having it as an option on parts that replace silicone.

And as far as pricing goes, we haven't had a chance quite yet to determine what we will charge for these so as soon as I know I will let you guys know. Thank you again for the feedback everybody!

how about 2.5", 2.75", 2.25" as well as the intake/recirc. That will cover every clamp needed under the hood except for the BT guys.
