Corksport Lowering Springs

Ok guys, I figured since Corksport is an active part of this forum and makes springs for both generations of speed 3s this would be the place to get some questions answered.

I'm assuming since you have springs for both gens that you made them after doing some testing and measuring on both cars, including knowing the stock spring sizes and rates.

So first thing first, what are the spring rates, lengths, and diameters of gen1 and gen2 springs? I've heard that they're different, but I haven't found anything definitive on exactly how.

Second, would gen 2 springs physically fit on a gen 1 speed 3, and vice versa? If so, and if one were to do such a thing, what would be the effect?

Why would you want to mix the gens?


Gen WON is 25% over stock spring rate.

1.2" Drop in the front

1.0" Drop in the rear.


Gen 2 is the same 'stats' but I doubt they'd fit a WON

I'm not wanting to mix then gens, it's more just for general information about springs and if they're really compatible between the 2 cars. Mostly because it would allow gen1 guys to run swift springs where they aren't an option now.

Personally, I plan on getting corksport springs but I'm looking for general information and figured it would be easiest just to ask active members who make springs.

True true. However, I think Swift springs are too much.

As far as gen WON goes, CS springs are the cream of the crop.

I know we've talked springs and struts before, but mostly struts. So now I have a question about your spring experience.

For the most part I find my stockers ok...but that's as far as I would take it. when the road dips I find them to be very bouncy, and I've hit successive dips in the past that make me feel like i'm about to completely leave the ground. this is obviously bad for handling, and is also partly the horrible damping system.

How have you found the CS springs compared to stockers on the road? Your setup is geared toward multiple applications, I know that, but how does the car feel for daily driving? I'm thinking that the main problem with this car is actually the damping but super stiff springs wouldn't exactly be comfortable

Hey man, I must have missed this-

I fucking love my setup! I had some issues but non-related to the actual products. Now that I am 100% up and running its a fucking win and then some. I love the stiffness of the CS springs..they aren't overly stiff to where its completely uncomfortable but yet when I corner there is zero body roll...its amazing!

Since I don't track my car, and since I have to ride around with my girlfriend pretty often, I'm contemplating between these and the eibachs. If it was only me I'd be fully set on these, but the eibachs are softer and probably better for a daily driven car.

that said, I think the main problem is the dampers anyway, and while koni is having their sale I'm really, really wanting to pick up a set. I really want more lows though

None of the available lowering spring options for this platform even approach "too stiff" for a daily driven car IMO (not to say that some of them aren't "too low," but I digress).

They all utilize pretty modest increases in spring rate over the OEM springs, and as long as you don't run them underdamped (by appropriately upgrading your dampers in concert) I doubt you're going to feel that they're too aggressive for daily use (keeping in mind that those that drop the car too much without enough of an increase in rate might cause the car to feel like shit, but that has more to do with too much of a reduction in usable travel than it does from spring rates that are too stiff).

Thank you. If it were just me it wouldn't matter in the least (my old truck felt like I had solid rods in the back) but I like to think of my passenger comfort as well. I've heard that the eibachs are too soft and can be bouncy, and that's not what I'm looking for either.

When I upgrade springs I plan to upgrade the shocks as well (not doing coilovers) so that won't be an issue. I may also do the rsb, depending on my timing, but that's not critical.

Anyway, thanks to everyone for the info. I'm pretty well set on CS springs (to complement my other corksport parts) and I'm really ready to just do this right now.
