Why is this almost 20% more expensive than the Gen1 cat-back system? I'm interested in it, I just remember reading that you were going to try and get this out at under $500.

Probably a lot of factors. I know we were shooting for sub $500, but it didn't work out. A combination I'm sure of development, vs design, vs quantity we will sell all added together. It's definitely a nice setup than our Gen 1 exhaust (shh, don't tell us Gen1 guys!)

Not bad, a little on the high side I think, but if you were to include a way to cover the other exhaust exit then this would be a good purchase.

Anybody on the forum pick this up yet? I'm interested in some consumer feedback on it.

@Spencer@CorkSport;, appreciate the answer. I know product development doesn't always go as expected. Understand that this is essentially the same amount of material/labor as a Gen1 system, with a much lower expected sales volume. Was hoping it would end up closer to that price, but it didn't; I get it.

Yeah I've had it since they came out. I love mine. Fantastic sound. Once I realized I was missing a spacer on the racepipe I have no fitment issues at all. No rattles. It looks great and the price was in my range.

If you have any specific questions let me know. The nator

Has there been any improvements made on the hangers?

Not sure if that was directed at me but I can tell you the only issue I had was that I was missing a spacer/donut on my racepipe that caused the mid pipe section of the exhaust to butt up against some heat shielding in the exhaust tunnel causing a minor rattle. Once we put the spacer on it it sat perfectly and the hangers are all good.

No, it was not really directed at you, but since you answered....

The hangers are not all good, if they are still using what amounts to stainless brake line tubing for the hangers. I had a local down at my place to do a brake job and rear motor mount and this is what I saw. As you can see in the picture, there is no evidence of an impact to the hanger.

I have installed many exhaust systems over the years, and when I saw this...well, I could not believe an after market company would use hollow tubing instead of solid round stock.

When he emailed and called Corksport to utilize the "2 year warranty" they told him to go to an exhaust shop and have it welded and they would only reimburse him $35 for repair. Re-welding this hanger at the point where this broke is not an option as it will only make the metal more brittle and it will break again.

Well obviously I know nothing of past issues with that, but I can tell you that the hangers on this system appear to be completely solid and are very sturdy.

Are they hollow tubing or are they solid?

I'm 99% sure that many OEM exhaust hangers are hollow as well. My 06 Civic SI had hollow hangers off the main cat (i.e. a heavy item) and I'm pretty sure the Evo X has hollow hangers as well (I'm sure to cut down on raw materials costs).

We all know there are lots and lots of Corksport exhausts out there and to my knowledge this isn't a widely reported issue. Some times stuff just happens... In all my 17 years of modding every car I've owned, I, right? Try to keep the mindset that anytime you break free any factory seal/bolt/screw or replace any part, expect that you may have to re-visit it in the future regardless of the price/quality of the parts you have and/or who put them in.

Exactly, there probably is a bunch of these out there, but that just reinforces that this problem was from a craftsmanship issue or a material issue. They (corksport) wanted him to have that hanger welded, which is a no go after it has broken that close to an already existing weld. It simply will not hold.

We make revisions and changes to parts quite often based on feed back from customers, things that have concerns, or problems.
They make revisions for a reason, and I understand why companies do this. But why not send a new style hanger out to help the customer?

To keep this simpler with less people (Me or any of the other sales people) in the mix Tom should talk with Kelly here @ CS. She is here to help.

-Derrick
He did, he talked to Kelly at the beginning of this week, and her solution was to have the bracket welded and CS would pay up to $35. What I am trying to get across is that having a weld put back on an already fatigued piece will result in the same outcome it is in now, broken. In my opinion, it looks like the weld was too hot and made the thin tubing brittle and it finally snapped.

Can any one find or does anyone know what their warranty actually covers? I have been looking on their website and cannot find any definition or description of what it covers.

They're solid. I actually put some vice grips on one of them to try and bend it before I realized I was missing a spacer. I was unable to get it to budge and it did not crush or distort at all.

I can get you a picture if you want. It's easy enough to throw it on a lift at work.

A pic would be great. If they are in fact solid, the. They have changed the hangers. I would think at least they could send him a new, solid hanger to have welded on with a reimburse of the shop labor for the welding.

That is obviously not what is on Tom's exhaust.

Please send him the new style hanger and reimburse him for the welding of the new hanger. This issue with his exhaust is a material/craftsmanship defect.

Is it a muffler or a resonator in the mid pipe? I wanna pull the trigger on this exhaust tomorrow but wanna make sure I can get through inspection with no issues.

It's a resonator. CS doesn't use mufflers. Direct from the mouth of um...one of them there. I can't remember the name because his voice had me in a trance.

Does this matter in PA? I have a racepipe and removed the OEM resonator and I pass in PA without issue...I thought they just scan through the ODBII port and that's it.

They are suppose to do a visual inspection as well and if no muffler or cat is in place they can fail you for that. However if you know someone that would let it slide then it wouldn't be an issue.
Just depends.

I've been to 2 separate places (not a friends shop) since I moved to PA - no issues, no mention of anything. I suppose I'll chalk it up to the one benefit of typical techs not doing what they are supposed to do?

Guess I should chime in here seeing as it's my pipe in the photo @silverdeamon posted. Corksport did say they would pay to have the bracket welded, I don't feel that that is a solution to the problem, more so a band aide. The reason I say this is because the tubing is hollow and relatively thin stock, I believe that welding that tubing will only make the material more brittle and fail again due to the heat of the actual weld. I have tried to call the multiple times since Friday (3-21-14) only to be directed to voicemail every time. I have left a message with no return call.
I also want it to be know that I run a good bit of their products and have never had any other failures until this. I'm not trying to get free product form them, just get what's broke fixed properly.

Man.... if you are that concerned about it, have the muffler shop make a new solid hangar... $50 later, things will be just fine and you can go whine about something less moronic. GSN
