(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Where can you get stainless versions of these screws? If that's not easy to get ahold of, I'm going to try and find something stainless with the same thread pitch and such cause the rust is driving me crazy.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Check Ace Hardware, they have a huge selection of stainless screws, bolts, pan head, socket, etc . They also have a chrome section as well. Its where I go to get that kind of stuff since Lowes and Home Depot suck balls as far as selection goes.

| Not Ranked : 0 score If it is metric, good luck finding them in stainless at a local home improvement. They're very limited. Do yourself a favor, take one out and find the thread pitch and diameter, also the length. If they don't have them there, just go ahead and order them online. Doing this would help you from finding out you can't find it, and looking all over creation for it. The chrome plated ones may Crack when tightening and start to lift off after awhile putting you in the same boat . There is an are hardware clear on the other side of town from me with a big metric selection. I don't know if ace is nationwide, though.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I was missing the socket head screws that hold the MAF sensor in on my MS intake, went to ace out of frustration from the other places and they had them in the correct size and pitch. I was blown away so I started looking at their selection and they had a hell of a lot of specialty metric sizes.

| Not Ranked : 0 score This place rocks. Not sure if they ship. http://www.flafasteners.com/?nomobile=1 Big factors will be not just thread size, but the head. Other option is to remove Allen head screws, soapy water scrub, then dry. Paint em and reinstall. Use painters tape on the Allen wrench. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I took mine out and measured. It's 4mm x .70 and 8mm long. Having said that I have the older version of the BPV where the screws are inset into the head of the valve so it may be different than what you have in your picture. Here's an amazon link to a stainless replacement. http://smile.amazon.com/12Pcs-Stainl...+8mm+stainless |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Yes, the 4mm x 0.7 is right. I had to get some new ones because the originals seemed a bit short and wouldnt bite. Found some at HD, just not in stainless. I did have to grind the heads down just a bit, as the replacements had slightly bigger head diameter.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Considering buying this BPV and just going to order them at the same time if these are correct. Don't need no rusty screw heads. I know Synapse claims the non-stainless ones "help maintain torque" by galvanic reaction, but it's kind of a bunch of crap to say "we depend on corrosion and rusting to keep our fasteners in place".

I notice McMaster has a "Magni-coated" screw that claims 1000 times more corrosion resistant than zinc. McMaster-Carr ...I wonder what color they are. I've heard of a coating that sounds like that and it's still sort of silvery, but gray. McMaster also has two part numbers for SS: McMaster-Carr McMaster-Carr Hmm, turns out of the three Fastenal part numbers, one of them is in stock at my local store(s) anyway. https://www.fastenal.com/products/de...S2530008A20000

| Not Ranked : 0 score Yes indeed. I think @CorkSport; should contemplate replacing the hardware on their inventory - this cost me $2.25 per unit and takes ~5 minutes. I have two more local friends that just ordered CS BPVs mostly because I told them this thing is fast and trouble free. It might seem like a minor issue, but the "before" picture illustrates pretty well the yuck factor of a little rust.

The third one I linked from McMaster, in a known variety of SS (18-8; probably the same as your silverware), are 6 cents each or 36 cents per unit. Even if shipping fills it out some, it's gotta be a fairly negligible part cost increase. I bet their original thinking is that it looks cooler with black fasteners. Maybe it does at first. But to me it looks just as good with the silver ones. Once you screw the BPV down with silver screws, and since the fitting on the top is silver, there's no reason more silver doesn't look fine.

| Not Ranked : 0 score whatever the reasoning for these pigmented screws, whether for looks or with some scientific rationale in mind, i just want screws that won't rust. this stainless option is a great substitute.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I did my best to replicate what I broke them at with the allen wrench. I'd call it snug plus a 1/4 turn. Corksport will probably have the particulars if you want to be 100% accurate.

| Not Ranked : 0 score 1/4 turn is a lot past snug. Maybe an 1/8 at most.
