So much for all the rumors of a 2016 RX... I'll pour one out tonight.

It sucks that mazda can't find a sugar daddy to replace Ford. The sad fact is that despite record sales mazda isn't in a great place financially. They simply don't have the cash to spend developing niche market vehicles like the RX. It looks like the MX5 and mazdaspeed vehicles will have to carry to zoom zoom flag. Sad to think that the car company that just surpassed Honda in consumer reports and placed 2 vehicles in the annual 10 best list from Car and Driver, is struggling for money.

Thats seriously weak sauce. One of the sales guys at my local mazda dealer was talking up the rx9 today and I was excited to hear about it. Should of guessed it was bs. Like the skyactiv d powered mazda 3 that was supposed to be available in 2013 on the genpu.

Mazda isn't a big enough company to go spending money of R&D on more than one car at the same time. That being said, they need to focus the majority of their finances on cars and platforms that will make them far more profitable. That being said, the RX series isn't necessarily dead as long as they can eventually justify it based on sales or some other way, or funds become more available.

There's always hope, we'll just have to keep playing the waiting game

Not surprised Mazda is trying to focus on their new lineup and look and trying to get good sales on that. Thats why even a new Speed is taking awhile, they want to have a strong lineup to support the more enthusiast cars. I for-see a new rotary in the future but when and how depends on how they keep selling.

And right now Mazda is kicking some ass with their new lineup over Honda and Toyota.

Sadly, The rotary is dead as a sole power plant in any vehicle. Emissions laws are only getting more strict. Looks like I'll be starting an rx8 Haven.

A haven for the last rotary engine vehicle...that statement just makes me sad. I have been tempted to buy an RX-8 so many times, they are just insanely cheap now. But sadly what I need is a daily, not another car I am going to want to park.

In reviews? Yes. In awards? Yes. In total sales? Not even close. Mazda is beating their own sales records year after year, but they are still far behind Toyota, Honda, and Nissan. Mazda 3 vs Civic or Corolla is a no contest. Every review favors the 3. It's actually fun to drive, gets great gas mileage, has great build quality, and it's cheaper! Plus a car and driver top 10 pick AGAIN!

Mazda 6 vs Accord or Camry is a split for Honda and Mazda. Both the accord and the 6 made car and driver top 10 honors. Looks wise the 6 is the big winner here, but Mazda doesn't offer the power of the top of the line accord. Who would buy a Camry over either one? Pretty much people trading in their ten year old Camry for a new one just like it.

MX5 vs. No one makes anything that good for that cheap. Period.

Not gonna sit here and break down the SUVs and Vans. The Mazda 5 is a sales flop sadly, it's just a little to Asian/European style to work in the US. The CX-5 and 9 are both highly awarded and rated, though the 9 is getting long in the tooth. But if you've never driven a 9, no SUV should handle that well. Full disclosure, I own one, but read the reviews! One magazine said something to the effect of, this is what happens when you ask the company responsible for the Miata, RX7/8, and Mazdaspeed lineup, to build a 7 passenger SUV. It had a higher slalom speed then many sedans they tested.

In summary, straight from Road and Track's review of the Mazda 3. "Seriously, does Mazda make any bad cars? There isn't one that's not well-built, affordable, and fun to drive."

It is an idiom, same as walking in someone else's moccasins lol. It means that it's getting old, outdated, etc. The guts of the CX-9 haven't changed since 2007 when it came out, they did a facelift in 13' but that was it.

Leave the rotards alone Paul. It's a very unique engine that has it's advantages and disadvantages. Also a lot of the bad rep is from owners that never bothered to learn how to properly care for them.

That's exactly why it isn't a flop, they have to sell it in other markets to compete, it shares all of the expensive parts with the widely produced 3 and they sell everyone they bring to the states without spending a single penny on marketing. They never intended to sell a million a year, they had it on the shelf and said fuck it lets see if anyone buys it. Everyone they sold was a win in my book. Before they offered the cx5 I'm sure they were stealing every sale from a crv or rav 4.

Plus it's my likely next car, they are stupid cheap used and available with a manual transmission.
