Not really sure I like this. I'd rather a design be focused around the speed label. Performance centric and be over built. Not just a turbo motor out of a heavier platform sure horned in.

In essence, give me a motor designed from the ground up to be fast and to showcase the mazdaspeed brand.

I am not sure if we will get that based on the signals we are seeing from Mazda. A sturdy motor for hauling around a 4000 lb SUV is a step in the right direction for sure. If the major tooling is done for this engine (block, head, etc) getting the rest of things done aimed at performance shouldn't be too crazy for Mazda to do.
